Warm shades and cool ones, printed and solid, metallic and matte, the patchwork fabric sashes forming this shabby tent create a cacophony of color. A triplet of matching end tables, one missing a handle and all of them scuffed and worn, define the space. One table with a deep gouge and its back to the central pole supports a silver-veined white marble stand with a small chip. The one with a missing handle stands against the outer wall and bounds the space on the west, just as the third well-worn end table resting near a pair of painted silk privacy screens draped with ribbons and lace bounds it to the east.

Craft and Create, Cut Corner

Strings of quartz crystals weigh down the chaotically colorful fabric ceiling, their facets scattering light that glints off precious stones in a rich mahogany jewelry display lined with worn blue velvet. To the northeast, some pale sage lace ferns frame a glossy ebony buffet with a missing door that backs against a wall of heavy curtains. On its black granite top with a spiderweb of cracks are jars of broken jewelry, boxes of mismatched beads, and a partially polished copper tin.

Repurposed crates are stacked around the wall like shelves, each cubby filled with small boxes, piles of folded fabric, tarnished statuary, and broken jewelry. Wildly mismatched, overstuffed pillows surround the eclectic space and create an inviting ring of comfort. Towards the northwest, in front of a wall of heavy curtains and just opposite a pair of painted silk privacy screens draped with ribbons and lace, an ornate brass tray with a fractured mirror top offers a mix of refreshments.

On the ornate brass tray you see: a crimp-edged petite fruit tart, a blue glass of crystal clear water, a tall glass of rich chocolate milk, and a flute of blushed peach sparkling wine.
