Headline: On Wyverns and Peahens
In our haste to share the latest gossip on the Peacock Grapevine, we apologise for the brevity of this publication but, as they say in polite circles, "less is more," and we hope we will not disappoint.
A public court was convened in Ta'Vaalor on Restday afternoon and many took the opportunity to take a peek inside the Guardian Keep, which is all too often closed to the curious spectator, and to get a closer look at those who reside in the fortress; namely the Sovereign and his rather extensive entourage.
Military pomp and circumstance was the order of the day with a strong presence of gilt-armored legionnaires who were soon joined by a veritable phalanx of regents and administrators. With much fluttering of fans and eyelashes at the distinguished arrivals, the ladies also put on a display to rival that of the Shining Court and Naefira Palace.
Ceremonials out of the way, King Qalinor quickly got down to business (probably due to the discomfiture of his throne) with announcing that that mutual defense treaty with Ta'Illistim will remain in suspension indefinitely until such time as a new Mirror is coronated. Lady Sayilla Javilerre Illistim was in fine spirits. At one point, the King accused her, albeit in jest, of stealing the attention and word has it that she reciprocated with a threat to send in a wave of peahens. Political allies or not, there is certainly a chemistry between the Heads of State and it bodes well for the future of both courts.
Headline: More on the Sovereign's Wandering Gaze
If anyone within the Grand Audience of Ta'Vaalor's Guardian Keep missed the gazes His Excellency and Sovereign Commander Qalinor levelled upon Lady Sayilla Javilerre, Mirror-Elect of Ta'Illistim, during the recent Court session, it can only because they were looking anywhere but at the Sovereign. This reporter noted that the Sovereign's jade green gaze wandered often to the lovely Mirror-Elect, at times lingering for some considerable length of time.
While there is no doubt that the Sovereign must have some measure of respect for Lady Javilerre, for both her new position and the work she has spent the past few years pursuing, we must now begin to wonder at what other thoughts are brewing beneath his lasimor circlet. Could he perhaps be hoping for a closer tie to the Lady than one Sovereign to another? What could such an alliance between Ta'Vaalor and Ta'Illistim mean for these lands, and for the rest of the Elven Nations?
Rest assured, dear reader, that the Peacock Gazette will continue its watch of this development!
Headline: On Piracy and Stolen Relics
The Twilight Deathwhisperer is still at large. Whilst amusing, this rather ridiculous sobriquet - adopted by the young Gasen Nellereune - is on everyone's lips and it is imperative he is found. Judging by his demeanour, King Qalinor's patience is wearing thin and he made it abundantly clear that the lordling's "retrieval" was a priority. Once apprehended, he is to be immediately returned home, hopefully where his father will deal with him accordingly. Nothing a reprimand and temporary cessation of privileges can't sort out, I'm sure! Meanwhile, the search for a stolen relic also continues. The Crimson Legion, along with additional scouts, continue to pursue those potentially involved in both the theft and the self-proclaimed pirate.

High Stewardess Tahlthi Zythaira is stepping down from her role as High Steward of Ta'Vaalor. High Lord Chamberlain Retassal er'Anlan Vaalor has been appointed as her successor and will oversee the operations of the fortress, including commerce, ambassadorships, finances, and other administrative duties. With the post of High Lord Chamberlain now vacant, interested parties should apply in writing.
Citizenship is to be extended in Ta'Vaalor to forest gnomes and Burghal gnomes, by order of the King. These people retain their sovereignty, and as such, are provided with partial citizenship only. It is believed that the other elven nations will follow suit.
