An assortment of carousel horses mounted on gilded poles encircle a moving platform beneath shiny metal rings hanging from a mirrored ceiling, just out of reach. A rearing stallion carved from black fel follows a winged, poplar-carved pegasus, while a prancing, helmet-clad centaur takes its place in line behind a spiral-horned unicorn pulling a chariot. Between the moving menagerie, a small red door with a brass knob is visible in the center support housing which is covered in colorful scenery panels. You also see a glass display case.

The Brass Ring, Carousel Center

A prime representation of gnomish artisanship, the inner workings of the carousel are laid bare behind the finely painted scenery panels in a jumble of gears, levers, and moving metal parts. Amid bins overflowing with tools and barrels full of black grease, an old monir chariot has been repurposed into a bed for the operator. A spiraling stairway winds around the enormous center pole supporting the roundabout, leading to a storage area above. You also see a small sign and a bushy browed gnome.

Extending from one temple to the next, overly bushy eyebrows create a single, thick carpet of fiery red across the gnome's forehead.  A full mop of wiry curly hair, only slightly less vibrant than his eyebrows, sticks out from all angles except where a pair of cracked lens goggles is strapped to his head.  His hands show signs of his commitment to his profession, evidenced by the grease beneath his fingernails and the singed hair on his knuckles.  His patchwork clothing appears a few sizes too large, but it is secured around his waist by a hefty toolbelt that holds his extensive collection of tools.

In the Common language, it reads:

A small herd of carved wooden horses in various states of disrepair are crowded into a makeshift corral taking up most of the available storage space above the carousel. Leather reins and tarnished bits hang on oak-paneled walls on both sides of a cedar cabinet filled with evenly spaced shelves. Suspended from the low ceiling by lengths of faded velvet, myriad brass rings, each polished to a mirror shine, reflect the flickering light cast from a pair of lanterns mounted near the stairway. You also see a perky bearded dabbler.

A perky bearded dabbler says, "I can remove certain properties on many items.  ASK ME about REMOVE to see what kinds of things I'm able to do for you.  My standard fee is 5000 raikhen, but for a script that has no mechanical value whatsoever, I will charge you only 1000 raikhen.  The script must be one that I am familiar with, so if I am not, I'll have to get permission first.  It shouldn't take too long, though."


Elegantly barrel-chested and graced with a flowing mane of flaxen tresses, a perky bearded dabbler is short of stature and nimble.  Her eyes reflect a good-natured flirtatiousness that is expressed in her ready smile and the gentle sway of her hips.  A plethora of bejeweled braids adorns her chin, though they have been parted into two groups to better show off her barely buttoned shirt, which is tucked into a pair of form-fitting leather trousers.
