A Report From Lylia
[Moot Hall, Mayor's Office]
At the varnished modwir door, a red bear skin rug stretches across the polished hardwood floor. Twin velnalin hide chairs face the Mayor's pine desk, while behind it sits an incurvated bone armchair. A great stag's head and a dark-framed sketch are mounted above a cobblestone fireplace set into the western wall. Refreshments are offered atop an oak bar beside a tall arched window. You also see a wooden stick, a forest wolf, a basket of sticks, a large detailed map, a large dog bed and a bone-ringed dart board.
Speaking gently to Lylia, Cruxophim suggests, "Please, do have a seat. Something to drink, if you'd like."
You report, "Lylia's alright now, it seems!"
(Leafiara gives a sigh of relief.)
The floorboards creak from the crowd.
Speaking to Lylia, Sorrenn says, "Thank goodness."
Evia says, "He made his get away with Lylia as a sort of shield and distraction, fleeing to a place he could again use his mysterious magic."
(Dergoatean hugs Lylia a bit closer than he ever has before.)
Goldstr asks, "So he still wounded?"
Speaking to Lylia, Arnylon says, "Should have thrown the orb before he threw the gear thing."
Speaking calmly to Lylia, Cruxophim requests, "So, could you explain what happened?"
Lylia murmurs, "Forgive me. I needed a moment to compose myself."
Lylia takes a drink from her green absinthe.
Speaking gently to Lylia, you assure, "Anyone would."
Speaking to Lylia, Irar asks, "He tell you anything of note?"
Speaking to Lylia, Ysharra says, "I'm glad he didn't harm you."
Hapenlok says, "And the next time ....he takes a hostage? I suggest that you all shoot the hostage."
Evia says, "Give her a chance please."
Speaking gently to Lylia, Cruxophim assures, "Oh, of course... take your time."
Speaking to Lylia, Hapenlok says, "No offense."
Ososis nods in agreement at Hapenlok.
Speaking dryly to Hapenlok, you say, "That -would- be your strategy..."
(Lylia pauses for a breath to let everyone settle down before speaking.)
Ososis says, "I almost said it as well."
Dergoatean turns to face Lylia.
Berkana says, "I doubt he'd get much chance to do damage. Lylia is pretty quick and formidable."
Ysharra moves to stand behind Lylia.
Speaking to you, Stonmel says, "And yours to heal his wounds and send him on his merry way to kill again."
You take a moment to observe everything you can about Lylia.
Stonmel stares at you.
Lylia says, "I believe he simply wanted to find the closest available...victim, if you could use such a word."
Lylia wrinkles her nose.
Cryheart says, "I saw a yellow glow."
Lylia says, "And that happened to be me."
Evia says, "It had no interest in damaging Lylia, only in getting away."
Speaking to Stonmel, you reason, "I did what I had to do to save Miss Lylia, as she would have saved me."
Lylia nods at Cryheart.
Cryheart says, "After he rubbed the prism."
Speaking to Tarazota, Dergoatean says, "Stephos used some kind of yellow shard to disable magic in the Landing for a time, so his mercenaries could have a chance at injuring Rone."
You briskly say, "But I'm sure we'll get to that later tonight. Let's hear from her right now."
Cruxophim looks thoughtfully at Lylia.
Speaking to Lylia, Suprie asks, "And he said nothin the whole time he had ya?"
Lylia reluctantly says, "Without magic, he knew I was largely ineffectual."
Speaking softly to Lylia, Wintersylph asks, "Who else was with you when I saw you all on North ring road, there were three of you?"
Lylia acidly says, "If you would let me finish, I might tell you."
You nod at Lylia.
Cruxophim calmly inquires, "Anyone get a good look at him? His mask was loose?"
Cruxophim nods understandingly at Lylia.
Cruxophim recites:
"Quiet, please... let Lylia speak."
You look at Cruxophim and shake your head.
You tilt your head slightly toward Lylia, noting the subtle changes in her muscles and breathing.
Lylia says, "I did not see him, nor detect anything about him that might identify him. I tried to detect something unusual about his cologne, his manner of speech, the roughness of his hands on my arms."
Lylia shakes her head.
Berkana says, "Just back off of her and give her space to breathe."
Cruxophim raises an eyebrow in your direction.
Goldstr turns an inquisitive ear toward Lylia.
Cruxophim turns an inquisitive ear toward Lylia.
Cryheart nods at Lylia.
Lylia says, "I can only say that he is probably not a dockworker or lumberjack. Not a very powerful grip, though powerful enough that without magic, I could not break free."
Cruxophim turns to face Lylia.
Madmountan turns an inquisitive ear toward Lylia.
Cruxophim looks thoughtfully at Lylia.
Cruxophim collects a hollow bone vial from a large compartment inside the ebonwood kit.
Goblyn gazes curiously at Lylia.
Goblyn skips in a circle around Lylia.
Speaking to Lylia, Berkana says, "You could always stomp his instep with those boots."
Cryheart says, "Or kick em where it hurts."
Lylia continues, "He threatened me with violence if I did not go quietly. I chose to bide my time, wait until I could strike, and study what I could."
You nod slowly at Lylia.
Berkana nods at Lylia.
Irar turns an inquisitive ear toward Lylia.
Goldstr says, "Seems he was runnin to Lute's."
Dirra nods at Lylia.
Speaking patiently to Lylia, Cruxophim murmurs, "Wise move."
Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean says, "Anything you would've learned about him likely would have more value than any injury you inflicted."
Zosopage whispers to the group, "You see a white cloaked figure who is garbed in studded white leathers. The cowl of the figure's pale hood barely conceals a polished steel and nearly featureless mask that matches a pair of polished steel gauntlets etched with faint runes. Black-bladed daggers hang from the figure's belt, while two long sheaths hang down from the sides. In the light of the moon, the figure's eyes behind the mask look as if they could be blue or grey."
(OOC) You whisper, "Yep, same I saw." to your group.
Cruxophim whispers to the group, "Aye, saw that myself."
Lylia says, "I saw white leather on the arms holding my own, and I could feel the cold metal of his mask pressed against my face when I turned toward him to try to see more."
Daghina looks thoughtfully at Lylia.
You feel the blood drain from your face.
You nod grimly at Lylia.
Lylia says, "His eyes were pale, like mine. Grey, or possibly blue."
Lylia furrows her brow.
Cryheart asks, "So Miss Lylia..did ye get the impression it was male or female?"
Cruxophim nods slowly at Lylia.
Chamorr heartily says, "I tried to whack da lil bastid."
You nod slowly at Lylia.
Lylia says, "He had a pair of black daggers, I think, but only one at my throat."
Lylia furrows her brow.
You nod sympathetically at Lylia.
Cryheart nods at Lylia.
Cryheart rubs Lylia.
Speaking to Lylia, Hapenlok asks, "Any poison on them, that you could tell?"
Hapenlok adds, "You could tell?"
Lylia says, "At least, I believe it was black. And again, I was incapable of casting. Whatever Stephos had done, this man may have had some of the attainted crystal on him, or perhaps his own blade is a mandis shard."
Speaking softly to Cryheart, Wintersylph says, "I was in their space just south of the North gate on North ring road, and I did see HIM, it was definately a him."
Lylia shakes her head.
Lylia firmly says, "All I know is that I was incapacitated magically."
You frown at Lylia.
Lylia says, "He was injured. His side, just here."
Speaking to Lylia, Irar says, "Mandis..."
Speaking to Lylia, Shinann says, "Are you certain it was male? I am sorry if you are not finished."
(Lylia presses a hand to her own side, not too close to any vital organs.)
Cruxophim nods slowly at Lylia.
Lylia says, "Absolutely."
Lylia nods at Shinann.
Shinann nods.
Shinann says, "Thank you."
Berkana says, "It's not Mandis."
You nod faintly at Lylia.
The voice of Raelee says, "... I would not think it Mandis, either."
Raelee suddenly fades into view.
Lylia takes a drink from her green absinthe.
Lylia lets out a long, contemplative breath.
Cryheart whispers to the group, "To my recall...mandis crystals were clear."
Cruxophim whispers to the group, "Are some not black, as well?"
Arnylon whispers to the group, "They are clear."
Shinann says, "I checked the music shop."
Lylia adds, "For what it is worth, I did not feel in grave peril once he took me. I believe he wanted someone to conceal his escape, not to harm me."
Speaking interestedly to Lylia, you say, "So you're not one of his targets... very good to know."
You nod at Lylia.
Speaking to Lylia, Albanus says, "Lovely. He killed over a dozen folks, but didn't harm you."
Speaking to Lylia, Sorrenn says, "Ironically it seems you may have been safer than the rest of us."
Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean says, "Though he was quite at ease killing two dozen others in the process."
Lylia says, "Virtue is its own reward, perhaps."
Speaking to you, Stonmel says, "We can be certain you won't be either, after that."
Speaking to Lylia, Irar asks, "What about height, build?"
Stonmel shakes his head.
Lylia smiles at Albanus.
Lylia folds her hands.
Speaking to Lylia, Irar asks, "Any clues there?"
Cruxophim whispers something to Lylia.
Speaking to Lylia, Berkana says, "I guess I'll be poor then."
Lylia says, "He was somewhat taller than I, but not notably tall."
Speaking softly to Cryheart, Wintersylph says, "I saw Lylia, Rone, and Raelee, however I couldn't tell if Raelee was with them or not, although she did move east with them."
Speaking offhandedly to Stonmel, you mention, "I wouldn't be so sure. I have a certain plan he might not like."
Hapenlok says, "No worse than someone failing to disarm a scales trap and opening the damn box in the square."
Cruxophim nods slowly at Lylia.
Leafiara intends to propose gathering clerics and empaths to offer Rysus a chance to come forward into custody and attempt a treatment for his curse.
Speaking to Lylia, Irar asks, "Human, you think?"
Pukk quietly says, "I don't think Rae is with him."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Albanus says, "One is a mistake, one is malicious."
Hapenlok says, "But, all that involved plotting was more than useless."
Speaking to you, Stonmel says, "Tend his wounds and prevent him from being captured at a moment a weakness? Good plan."
Speaking absently to Lylia, Cruxophim murmurs, "So we know that the suspect is male, eyes were... blue or grey, perhaps?"
Lylia says, "Raelee was not with him. She may have passed and seen him, but she was certainly not with him. I could not see if she made an attempt to apprehend him too."
Mylenna says, "It's almost like he purposefully left the trail of blood to follow. Once he had everyone there with him, no more trail was seen."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Suprie says, "But smaller, and meant for hurtin groups."
Raelee tiredly says, "I escaped the blast efficiently and alive. I merely followed as long as I could."
Cryheart nods at Lylia.
Shinann asks, "Lute has blue grey eyes. I am not accusing anyone, but maybe a relative?"
Leafiara's Interjected Defense
Speaking to Stonmel, you say, "I told you, I'll get into that story when Miss Lylia is finished. Some decorum, please."
You gaze heavenward.
Speaking to Stonmel, Lylia says, "A healer heals. It is what they do. I do not blame her for seeing to his wounds while I was incapable of action."
You ponder the meaning of Shinann's existence.
Cruxophim nods in agreement to you.
You grin crookedly at Pukk.
Stonmel says, "At the cost of the bounty."
Lylia fans herself.
Speaking seriously to Stonmel, you say, "Yes, I value Miss Lylia's life over the ten million silvers."
You stare at Stonmel.
Lylia murmurs, "I believe I need to sit down for a moment."
Lylia just went over and threw herself down on the chair.
Cruxophim nods in agreement to you.
Stonmel says, "And Rone's too it seemed."
Cruxophim offers Lylia a wide glass of cold water.
Cruxophim gives Lylia a strong, encouraging smile.
Speaking suddenly to Lylia, you ask, "Miss Lylia, are you done? So I can defend myself from this... person?"
You shake your head.
Lylia accepts Cruxophim's cold water.
Lylia nods gratefully at Cruxophim.
Lylia nods to you.
Dergoatean touches Lylia.
Cruxophim begins a careful examination of Lylia -- he takes her pulse, checks her temperature, and checks for broken bones or any other ailments.
Speaking to you, Lylia says, "Of course, and I would defend you as well. I was a witness to it all."
You smile at Lylia.
Speaking to Lylia, you say, "Thank you."
Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean says, "If I..."
Hlendril says, "We are dealing more than an assassin here."
Speaking softly to Lylia, Wintersylph asks, "Did you notice if Rone was able to use and spells or magics of his own while he was in town with you?"
Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean says, "If we."
Lylia smiles at Dergoatean.
Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean says, "If we ever lost you..."
Pukk quietly says, "Good question."
Lylia places a hand over her heart.
Pukk turns an inquisitive ear toward Lylia.
Lylia inclines her head.
Dergoatean hugs Lylia.
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim suggests, "Alright, say your bit."
Speaking pointedly to Stonmel, you say, "Now then... have -you- ever been kidnapped? Taken alive? I have, toward the end of 5116, and Miss Lylia among many others risked their lives and everything to try to save me."
Speaking to Dergoatean, Lylia says, "Thank you. Truly."
Dergoatean smiles at Lylia.
Stonmel glances at you.
Cruxophim whispers, "Let him say his piece, then you can rebut."
Lylia nods to you.
Speaking seriously to Stonmel, you say, "I owe the Landing my life, and in case you didn't see it, Rone took off my leg this very night--so no, I am not on his side."
Sorrenn says, "The prism seemed of gnomish constructoin."
Telum says, "Well you only have one side technically, if you lost yer leg."
Speaking to Stonmel, you reason, "I did what I had to in order to save a hostage. That is what clerics do--we save lives."
Lylia says, "The only time I noticed him using magic was to take me from one place in the woods to that hollow tree."
You twist your head slightly, cracking your neck. That felt nice.
Speaking simply to you, Albanus says, "So you admit you provided aid and comfort to the enemy."
You relievedly say, "Ah... finally got that out."
You dust yourself off.
Dergoatean says, "Gears."
Lylia takes a drink from her green absinthe.
Lylia looks rather relaxed.
Cruxophim turns an inquisitive ear toward Stonmel.
Speaking boredly to Albanus, you dismiss, "Spin it however you'd like. You would have let her die, I take it."
A Report From Stonmel
Cruxophim repeats, "Elaborate, please."
Speaking simply to you, Albanus says, "An enemy that had just previously killed over a dozen citizens."
Speaking to you, Irar asks, "What... *exactly* happened?"
Cruxophim turns an inquisitive ear toward Stonmel.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Stonmel says, "I can't speak for what happened before I arrived, but when I did, I saw Rone holding a dagger to Lylia. I went to cast a tangle of vines over them to sort it out later, and catch him. Then Leafiara who was already there, casted a sanctuary, preventing me from doing so. I drew my bow back and held an arrow with a clear shot on him, as she tended him."
Falvicar tilts his head toward you, examining you intently as the tip of one ear twitches briefly.
Speaking to Albanus, Kipara says, "Lylia is safe back with us, your accusations are pointless."
Stonmel says, "He then offered to talk to her privately later, and left."
Stonmel says, "She let that killer escape."
Speaking simply to you, Albanus says, "You are a traitor and should be thrown into a cell."
You disbelievingly say, "That is not at all what he said."
You gaze heavenward.
Speaking quietly to Albanus, Pukk says, "You are treading on some thin ice."
Lylia nods gratefully at Kipara.
Irar says, "Let her finish her story, please."
Irar turns an inquisitive ear toward you.
Albanus waves a hand at Pukk, dismissing him indifferently.
Arnylon says, "We know now he's not some spirit."
You acknowledge, "I did say I wanted to speak. Because I do. I want to reason with him, as Pup tried to."
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim repeats, "So your claim is that Leafiara made the room peaceful, then tended his wounds, then Rone said he would speak to her later?"
Cryheart says, "We hae a vigilante around...and we need to focus on capture."
Cruxophim peers quizzically at Stonmel.
Kipara says, "LET him escape implies that she had the ability to apprehend him. I think we're playing down Rone's strength."
Cruxophim recites:
"Quiet, please."
You seriously say, "He never said he would speak later. All he said was 'not now.'."
You shake your head.
Cryheart says, "If he bleeds...he can be captured."
(Pukk stands next to Leafiara.)
Stonmel says, "That's what happened."
Cruxophim calmly urges, "Let's not miscontrue things, let the people say what they have to say."
Lylia nods at Kipara.
Speaking disbelievingly to Stonmel, Marijka says, "Leafi treated wounds? She's not an empath."
Stonmel says, "He then let the girl go, and slipped back into his mist and away."
Shinann says, "If he bleeds, he is not a spirit."
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim inquires, "Is that everything?"
Speaking to Kipara, Lylia says, "Just so. If he could incapacitate me, however briefly, he would surely have been able to do the same to Leafiara."
Evia says, "There was no magic at that moment I assume."
Albanus says, "She attended to his injuries. He could have easily bled out enough to not been able to fight a net being thrown over him."
Speaking to Stonmel, Lylia asks, "Which girl is this you refer to?"
Telum says, "Just cause it bleeds doesnt mean we can take it out."
Lylia raises an eyebrow.
Speaking to Stonmel, Lylia asks, "Is there a girl I did not see?"
Roelaren says, "Ye are right no magic."
Lylia narrows her eyes.
Stonmel says, "Semantics."
Stonmel shrugs.
Hlendril says, "If we only let this bastard around at night there is no chance to find him."
Stonmel nods at Cruxophim.
Monthas says, "He could have hit the donation bin and gotten all the herbs he needed."
You dryly say, "Remarkable... -right- after I confess to writing those terrible pamphlets that accused everyone of not doing enough against Dennet, people still suspect I'm holding back."
Cruxophim begins chuckling at Lylia!
Lylia counters, "Truth."
Telum says, "I mean, Leafiara I assume bleeds."
Stonmel says, "That's what I recall of it."
Cruxophim nods appreciatively at Stonmel.
Speaking warningly to Stonmel, Nakaira rasps, "It is not semantics which cause the Lady Rashere to be accorded her due."
Telum asks, "You wanna try capturing her?"
Telum shakes his head.
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim concludes, "Thank you for your testimony."
Telum says, "Bad times."
Cruxophim turns to face you.
Albanus says, "Anyone can patch someone up from bleeding, if they know enough."
You acknowledge, "Yes, I tended his wound. It was the only way he would let Miss Lylia go."
Arguments and Counterarguments
Speaking calmly to you, Cruxophim requests, "Can you tell us your side of things?"
Albanus says, "And I suspect Leafiara knows more than enough to staunch wounds."
Speaking to you, Hapenlok says, "Welcome to my life."
You nod at Albanus.
Cryheart turns an inquisitive ear toward you.
Lylia says, "Indeed. It was clear that I was still in some danger; I am grateful to Leafiara for acting so quickly and surely."
Evia says, "Let's not get over excited, the fellow had a concern of what he saw, and has stated it, it will all be made clear."
Speaking to you, Stonmel says, "Being tangled in a mess of vines would have done the same, and had him in stocks before us to answer for the dozen or so people he killed not 20 minutes before that."
Speaking evenly to Albanus, Cruxophim warns, "I will have you thrown out for assaulting a Mayor, don't think I won't."
Suprie says, "Ya said ya didn't think he wanted to hurt ya."
Cruxophim turns to face you.
The voice of Rekarth says, "This fellow has certainly amassed quite a fine."
Falvicar stands in front of you.
Speaking seriously to Stonmel, you rebut, "I couldn't have known that was what you were trying. You didn't explain yourself, and you've shown so much anger at Rone that I didn't trust you not to try to kill us all just to take him down."
Pukk turns an inquisitive ear toward you.
Speaking to Suprie, Lylia says, "Which is why I said 'some danger.' I was not sure until he fled what would become of me. I began to hope I would live through it, but I did not feel 'out of the woods' while still in the woods, you see."
Dannore says, "Going to the constable to report Rone for murder."
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim interjects, "She has a point."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "No, she doesn't."
Cruxophim eyes Albanus with a stern expression, his dark sclera reduced to mere slits.
Speaking to you, Stonmel says, "No, I didn't stop to explain what I was able to do to disable this killer, so that he could avoid it."
You gaze in wonder at your surroundings.
Stonmel says, "I simply tried to act."
Ysharra asks, "Murder and attempted murder. Somewhere upwards of twenty charges, no?"
Stonmel says, "And you did as well."
Speaking to Stonmel, Hapenlok says, "Well, your plan was likely better than what i was going to do, if I had arrived on the scene."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus asks, "He had just killed a dozen or so previously, which is fine. But a few more is the problem?"
Speaking seriously to Stonmel, you say, "And if you don't see why that worried me in a tense situation, there isn't much more to discuss."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus asks, "A dozen is a statistic, but Lylia is a tragedy huh?"
Speaking to Albanus, Telare says, "Yes."
Speaking to Albanus, Dreuntar says, "It's ok to bandage a killer that's just killed dozens to prevent the killer from killing one."
Speaking to you, Stonmel says, "The simple of it is, you decided to take the side of a killer and aided his escape."
Speaking to Dreuntar, Albanus says, "It is not."
Ysharra says, "Lylia is an officer of the Faendryl Enclave, a member of the Mayor's council, and the liaison to New Ta'Faendryl."
Speaking to Albanus, Dreuntar says, "That's the logic we heard."
Speaking simply to Stonmel, you say, "And you would have let him kill her. Yes... if we want to spin it."
You raise your eyebrows and make a show of gazing intently at Stonmel, but stop short of wasting any words.
(Lylia darts Stonmel a wounded look.)
Speaking calmly to Albanus, Cruxophim reminds, "She is one of my Advisors, an assault against her is action against the office of the Mayor."
Speaking to you, Stonmel says, "Well, you just freed him to keep on killing, so the countless bodies he drops from now til he's caught, that's on you."
Ysharra says, "And it seems to me like Cruxophim has been consistently opposed to the vigilante since he started his campaign of violence."
Lylia notes, "And the mayor himself has been threatened, do recall."
Ysharra nods at Lylia.
Speaking evenly to Stonmel, Cruxophim suggests, "Your ire is misplaced. I suggest you redirect that where it belong, instead of worrying about what ifs and what might have beens."
Speaking wearily to Stonmel, you say, "If you think I don't admit that possibility, you're wrong. But things get heated in the moment, when someone's life is about to be taken right in front of me."
Dirra glances at you.
Speaking to you, Irar says, "What exactly did he say to you? I may have missed that, in the midst of all the accusations."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus asks, "So, we could have captured Rone. But she bandaged him up and sent him on his merry way. And this is fine?"
Chamorr heartily says, "Well, why aint we out searchin fer him."
Speaking seriously to Stonmel, Cruxophim informs, "I am not going to blame someone for taking a peaceful route, instead of taking a life."
Madmountan says, "I'm leaving before I start slaughtering people for idiocy."
Speaking to Albanus, Kipara says, "What Leafi did was something called casualty reduction. no one knew the bomb would go off, and she simply did what she could with what little time she had to potentially save one more person."
Chamorr heartily says, "Steada pointin fingers is every direction."
Speaking to Chamorr, Hapenlok says, "Because...of his means of escape. It'd be a waste of time."
Lylia nods in agreement at Kipara.
Speaking sharply to Albanus, Cruxophim warns, "One more word."
Stonmel says, "So much for being committed to taking this killer down."
Lylia nods gratefully at Chamorr.
Arnylon says, "You'd be busy awhile."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus asks, "And what, you'll murder me?"
Stonmel says, "Shows a lack of leadership to call her move the good play."
Stonmel looks over at Cruxophim and shakes his head.
Speaking to Stonmel, Lylia says, "I tried and failed."
Lylia wrings her hands.
Speaking to Albanus, Shinann asks, "She saved Lylia's life. Do you have a problem with that?"
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim adds, "I hear what you're saying, believe me. It's something to consider."
Archales says, "I think there's been enough bloodshed for one night."
Speaking dryly to Stonmel, you deadpan, "Yes, I'm sure Crux doesn't want to take down the man who's threatened his life and everyone around him."
Speaking to Shinann, Albanus says, "She let Rone escape. That's what I have a problem with."
Cruxophim starts chuckling at you!
Ososis says, "To be clear."
Ososis says, "EVERYONE let him escape."
Speaking to Albanus, Archales says, "Silver lining we can still catch him an collect that bounty."
Speaking airily to Ososis, you say, "Well... you do have a point there."
Speaking to you, Stonmel says, "Maybe you just wanted him to kill the mayor to better your chances after you last failed run."
Evia asks, "Why do we stand judging one another, rather harshly instead of discussing what else we might do?"
Stonmel shakes his head.
Speaking heartily to Albanus, Chamorr says, "There was no way to stop him, I tried to whack him and nothin worked."
Speaking calmly to Ososis, Cruxophim assures, "We'll get him in time. He's wounded, cornered.... flustered."
Speaking to Ososis, Hlendril says, "Because everyone was too busy being politically correct."
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, you remind, "Crux isn't running this year."
Lylia nods emphatically at Ososis!
Speaking to Chamorr, Albanus says, "He was bleeding."
Speaking to you, Hapenlok says, "Well, to be honest. Your way was a bit less lethal than mine."
Speaking to Chamorr, Albanus says, "She patched his wounds, inside of her own sanctuary."
Speaking to you, Evia asks, "He isn't?"
Ysharra says, "I had been casting Spikethorn at him since he grabbed my friend."
Evia raises an eyebrow.
Speaking heartily to Albanus, Chamorr asks, "And?"
Ysharra nods at Chamorr.
Speaking to you, Hapenlok says, "I was going to remove the hostage from the equation."
Speaking to Chamorr, Albanus says, "He could have easily bled out if she did not."
Lylia gently rests her hand on Ysharra's shoulder.
Lylia nods gratefully at Ysharra.
Hapenlok says, "And Silvean would have been mad at me."
Hlendril says, "My draconian tactics are effective."
Speaking surreptitiously to Evia, you say, "Not that I know of... but he can speak for himself, I suppoose."
You furrow your brow, probably adding a wrinkle or two in the process.
Ysharra says, "None of them landed. The root was supressed to the ground."
Speaking to Chamorr, Albanus says, "If he would have bled out, we'd have him."
Dirra glances at you.
Speaking to Hapenlok, Lylia says, "Silvean may well erase this town if he hears of this. I shall try to make it sound like not much of a muchness when I speak to him of it."
Lylia clears her throat.
You lightly add, "And if he -is- running again, incidentally, then I'll drop out. I don't see a need to lose by about a hundred votes again."
You gaze in wonder at your surroundings.
Lylia says, "Safest for all."
Speaking to Chamorr, Albanus says, "But since she patched him up, no blood trail either."
Lylia folds her hands in her lap.
Cruxophim begins chuckling at Lylia!
Evia begins chuckling at Lylia!
Evia says, "I love that expression."
Ysharra grins at Lylia.
Kipara says, "What seems to be happening here is due to a lack of any real evidence or leads, Leafi is being attacked for her actions because it's seemingly the only thing we have to go on."
Pukk hugs you, and you wrap him in a warm embrace.
Evia says, "Much ado about not muchness."
Pukk quietly says, "I would vote for you."
Pukk leans softly against you.
Speaking to Lylia, Xorus says, "I hope he is charitable enough to not blame me for it."
Speaking to Lylia, Ysharra says, "My aim is decent with the thorns. I wouldn't have hit you, my dear."
Ysharra winks at Lylia.
Lylia nods at Xorus.
Speaking heartily to Albanus, Chamorr asks, "Should we tar an feather her?"
Hlendril says, "We need to be more firm and assertive about situations like this."
Suprie says, "Well, I suppose if this vigilante wanted us divided, tonight was a success."
Speaking to Ysharra, Lylia says, "I trust you, of course."
Lylia smiles.
You give Lylia a strong, encouraging smile.
Speaking to Chamorr, Albanus says, "If that's what is needed."
Cruxophim gives Lylia a strong, encouraging smile.
Hapenlok shrugs at Lylia.
Speaking to Albanus, Shinann says, "And you save lives. This coming from you. Hypocrite."
Dreuntar says, "I did not attack her for her actions. But she did allow him to continue to kill instead of being captured. Much more death will be the result of her saving one."
Speaking calmly to you, Cruxophim inquires, "Did you tend his wounds?"
Cruxophim cocks his head at you.
Stonmel says, "Spin whatever story, justification, or line you want. The end of the day, Rone was injured, weakened, and prime to be captured. I was about to disable him and end the standoff, and instead, Leafiara stepped in, prevented him from being stopped, healed him, and let him escape."
Hlendril says, "If someone shot an arrow at his forehead, things woulda gone different."
Stonmel says, "Nothing said changes those facts."
Speaking patiently to Cruxophim, you explain, "Yes. He put down Lylia because of that."
Lylia nods to you.
Hapenlok says, "Oh well. I would have liked to have seen some payment exacted for the arm I left on the ground on South Ring Road."
Speaking heartily to Albanus, Chamorr says, "Just hush, nobody is whackin Leafi."
Hlendril says, "Its a kill or be killed world out there, we need to be cold once for a while."
Speaking to Chamorr, Albanus says, "I don't make the laws, but they should be enforced."
Hlendril says, "Like our mayor Crux."
Hlendril says, "I... Think."
Speaking slowly to Stonmel, Cruxophim inquires, "So you would rather Lylia have suffered and we captured Rone?"
Speculation Spreads, Accusations Abound
Wintersylph softly says, "Not taking any sides, but there was nothing Vigilante about taking Lylia, her life was not in Danger, if the Man had wanted to kill her he would have as he did the rest of you."
Zosopage says, "It was a judgment call. Right or wrong it's done."
Cruxophim cocks his head at Stonmel.
Speaking to Chamorr, Albanus says, "Aiding Rone is making yourself accessory to murder."
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim reminds, "He had a knife to her thoat."
Lylia confesses, "I wish I could have said what bound me so. Whether it was residue from that yellow crystal, or whether it was something Rone himself had..."
Stonmel asks, "A little discomfort at being tangled in a vine?"
Lylia shakes her head.
Lylia says, "I could not say."
Hapenlok says, "She speaks truth. He could have slit her throat at any time."
Stonmel says, "I'd rather the killer be brought to justice."
Wintersylph softly says, "Taking her had a different intent."
Hapenlok says, "After effecting his escape."
Stonmel asks, "How many bodies did he leave tonight alone?"
Speaking to Lylia, Irar says, "None of us could cast for a while. I had to leave town to try and locate you."
Speaking to Wintersylph, Lylia says, "I do wonder what stayed his hand."
Lylia furrows her brow.
Lylia nods at Irar.
Speaking to Lylia, Ysharra says, "It may have been what was left from that, yes. It's what kept him from using his little trick so Stephos' man could shoot him."
Stonmel asks, "How many more grave injuries?"
Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean says, "Plurality must not be posited without necessity."
You speculate, "Rone was gravely injured... He probably had to assure he still had a getaway even after escaping the gates."
Speaking to Lylia, Hapenlok says, "The carnage, probably."
Lylia says, "It seemed to linger nearer to him. I could not cast, although I tried."
Speaking to Lylia, Ysharra says, "Made him vulnerable, and clearly more inventive."
Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean says, "We know the crystal had that effect on all of us - seems the simplest explanation."
Lylia nods at Dergoatean.
Speaking to Lylia, Dreuntar says, "Sense of self-preservation I'd imagine and knowing you didn't have the courage to off yourself along with him when you brandished that orb I'd imagine."
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim reminds, "I wasn't there. It is not the route I would have gone, possibly, it was not my choice to make. Nor was it yours."
Wintersylph softly says, "Here we are arguing about something not related to his intent or who he is, we are being distracted with this babble."
Speaking to Lylia, Thrassus says, "It may have been an aftereffect of that plinite shard's burst."
You add, "Oh, and yes... in the light of the moon, his eyes seemed maybe blue or grey, but other than that I couldn't get a clear look..."
You nod at Thrassus.
Cruxophim nods absently to you.
Dirra says, "Not to choose side, perhaps a tending of this Rone migt have been a strategic atempt on Miss Leafiara's part to slow him down. A mending such as that does take time."
You nod at Dirra.
Roelaren says, "He made it impossible to cast, and if aiding him stayed his hand from killing his hostage then Leafi is a hero."
Hapenlok says, "It doesn't matter. either way."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Stonmel says, "When the city guard won't take down a killer, when he's killing citizens of this town, when he's committing mass murder... it is the right of everyone to hunt down and stop them."
You say, "And he had to offer me his side... loosing his grip on Lylia."
Roelaren nods to you.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Stonmel says, "If you believe it was not my call as a citizen to try and take him down, after this office placed a bounty on him no less, then I don't know what else to say to you."
Pukk quietly says, "You all say he was weakened and that is true. But you don't know for a fact that you could have taken him down. He is tricky and has magic toys. He could have had another that did more damage than before...Leafiara may have saved more lives that way too."
Speaking heartily to you, Chamorr says, "Next time poke him in da eye."
You grin crookedly at Chamorr.
You nod faintly at Pukk.
Speaking to Dirra, Lylia says, "I had not even thought about that. If so, her cleverness is even greater than I already believed it to be."
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim clarifies, "The right, yes. You were outside jurisdiction of the Landing. No action was legal or illegal."
Lylia gazes admiringly at you.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Kipara says, "Go on, do it."
You blush a light pink shade at Lylia.
Ysharra nods at Lylia.
Speaking to you, Evia asks, "So, his side was very badly gashed?"
You nod at Evia.
You confirm, "Yes... he's no phantom."
Hapenlok says, "I'm wondering if those crossbow bolts were poisoned."
Lylia says, "Indeed. I could see that. And smell it. Blood on him."
You nod in agreement at Lylia.
Lylia says, "No bowel perforation, I would say."
Speaking to Lylia, Dirra says, "Just a thought, Ma'am."
Cruxophim nods once at Lylia.
Speaking to himself, Dergoatean says, "Plenty of things are legal and are also stupid..."
Stonmel says, "The fact that this act of treason isn't condemmed..."
Lylia notes, "One can smell that too, when it happens."
Speaking to you, Evia says, "And tending to it, left the fellow, somewhat bound for at least some moments, so that was a good thing."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Hapenlok asks, "Can you answer to that?"
Lylia wrinkles her nose.
Speaking thoughtfully to Lylia, Cruxophim agrees, "The blood was not dark enough."
Stonmel says, "Is just more lack of leadership from this office."
Speaking to Lylia, Irar asks, "Any thoughts on race? Human?"
Cruxophim eyes Stonmel with a stern expression, his dark sclera reduced to mere slits.
You glance between Irar and Lylia.
You nod at Evia.
Ysharra says, "The De'Archons seem to be effective, though. Between the bounty and the mercenaries, Rone has been driven out of his shadows."
Speaking to Irar, Lylia says, "Hard to say. Very difficult. I believe so, or perhaps half-human."
Ysharra says, "Pardon me, his mist."
Speaking quietly to Stonmel, Pukk says, "It is not treason to try to save people. I believe that is what Leafi was considering."
Speaking to you, Albanus says, "It's a good thing that these people won't see you punished, but just remember, you are an accessory to every murder tonight, and every murder from henceforth for your actions."
Speaking to Ysharra, Hapenlok says, "..and back in."
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim warns, "I would, perhaps, be more careful with your words."
Speaking relievedly to Evia, you say, "I'm glad an empath wasn't the first to find him."
Irar nods at Lylia.
Speaking to you, Albanus says, "I do hope you can live with yourself."
Speaking boredly to Albanus, you dismiss, "You would have said that even if not for tonight, just because of my pamphlets about Dennet."
Speaking pointedly to Albanus, you say, "In fact, you already did."
Cruxophim recites:
"Did anyone else actually witness Leafiara treat Rone's wounds?"
Speaking to Stonmel, Shinann asks, "All these ifs. If you had taken him down with your bow, he could have dropped the prism when he fell and then who would we charge? You?"
Speaking to Cruxophim, Stonmel says, "For speaking the truth of it? She saves a killer and lets him go free to harm others."
Speaking sincerely to Shinann, Lylia says, "Thank you."
Speaking quietly to Albanus, Pukk says, "Don't be a dingleberry. You have it in for Leafi anyways."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Stonmel says, "And you support her."
Speaking to you, Albanus says, "I was trying to get a rise out of you about your little journalism. But this time? It's quite serious."
Archales asks, "Do you need more than one witness?"
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim states, "You are clearly upset, and not thinking rationally."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Hapenlok says, "Ironic. It's not me tonight. And I've got cause to be absolutely furious."
Speaking seriously to Albanus, you ask, "Then let's discuss that. Is Deacon Irar responsible for everything Raznel has ever done because he didn't share what he knew about Naimorai?"
Irar sighs.
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim reminds, "Treating injuries is not a punishable offense. If it had happened within the walls, then yes... perhaps."
(Lylia pours a little water into her absinthe, turning it milky.)
Shinann says, "We can only work forwward from here and anything else is not really productive."
Lylia takes a drink from her green absinthe.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Stonmel asks, "What else would you call it when the mayor pardons and supports someone who gave aide to a murderer?"
Hapenlok says, "And I am a bit furious."
Speaking pointedly to Albanus, you say, "No. He isn't. If he was, he and I would need to have serious words after the black blood curse."
Speaking to you, Albanus says, "I don't believe that your print inspired this murderer. I do believe that your actions have made him able to murder in the future, however."
Xorus whispers something to Lylia.
Speaking amusedly to Stonmel, Cruxophim reminds, "There is nothing to pardon. There are not charges."
Dirra says, "Well he DID pardon a war criminal."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Evia says, "Not to mention, the tending of a serious wound binds the wounded person in place quite effectively."
Speaking slowly to Stonmel, Cruxophim repeats, "Say it with me. There. Are. No. Charges."
Speaking to you, Albanus says, "Deacon could not have seen whatever her name is becoming Raznel. No one could have."
Speaking wearily to Albanus, you say, "If you think I'm denying that, you understand me even less than I already thought you did."
Cruxophim begins chuckling at Stonmel!
Speaking to you, Albanus asks, "Then why didn't you let him bleed out?"
Hapenlok says, "Bound wounds are a hindrance."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Dreuntar asks, "What're the chances of getting some popcorn added to the bar before you leave office?"
Archales turns an inquisitive ear toward you.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Stonmel says, "Of course not, because the leadership here is weak."
Speaking wryly to Stonmel, Cruxophim remarks, "Is it what I would have done? No."
Stonmel shakes his head.
Speaking to Albanus, you explain, "Because he would probably have taken Lylia and everyone else there with him."
Cruxophim pointedly says, "Seems that you are the weak one, being so unable to take him down."
Speaking to Lylia, Hlendril says, "Be well, ma`am. This fair Landing is my second home and I will DIE for it."
Cruxophim begins chuckling at Stonmel!
Evia says, "Well, we are truly getting nowhere now but deeper into the mud."
Speaking to you, Albanus says, "If he was bleeding, someone could have tracked him, and he would have been weakened by the blood loss."
Speaking to Evia, Telare says, "Not unusual."
Cruxophim pointedly reminds, "Since you were right there, and all."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Stonmel says, "Keep trying to mock me, you only further expose yourself and your colors."
Cruxophim levels his gaze at Stonmel, staring intently at him without blinking his eyes.
Speaking to you, Albanus says, "I shouldn't be having to tell you this, but I am."
Speaking to Albanus, you wonder, "If you ever find yourself in this situation, what will you do? Maybe time will tell... but I hope you're never faced with such a thing."
Pukk quietly says, "Ooh. I can mock you."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Dreuntar says, "A big bowl of popcorn amidst the drinks on the bar. It'd make this more fun to watch."
Zosopage says, "Or he would have found someone else to tend him or find the herbs he needed."
Cruxophim dubiously muses, "Sure."
In a fair imitation of Stonmel, Pukk quietly exclaims, "Mock me!"
Speaking to you, Albanus says, "I would have let Rone bleed."
Speaking to Albanus, Hapenlok says, "He's still gravely wounded. Any actions would cause that bandage to open right back up."
Speaking amusedly to Albanus, Cruxophim remarks, "Some priest."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "Priest, yes. Empath, no."
You nod at Hapenlok.
Speaking to Hapenlok, you agree, "Right. Thankfully it wasn't an empath who found him first."
Lylia quietly asks, "It has been a trying enough evening. I was with Leafiara. She made a choice that saved me; I cannot gainsay her for that. How many others has she saved, or tried to?"
Roelaren says, "While he slit his captive's throat right."
Lylia surveys the area.
Cruxophim calmly reminds, "Believe me, I will have his head soon enough."
You nod in agreement at Lylia.
Speaking to Lylia, Evia says, "Perhaps he shed blood on your garments as well, take care to check later."
Cruxophim nods once at Stonmel.
Lylia asks, "How many of you here has she aided?"
Lylia nods at Evia.
Speaking to Albanus, Hapenlok says, "She made a judgment. And I respect it. Much as I had wished that someone had showed similar respect to me, when I tried to ward our main means of defense."
Archales says, "She killed me once."
Goblyn raises an eyebrow in Lylia's direction.
Stonmel snorts!
Archales says, "But it was in a duel."
Cruxophim begins chuckling at Archales!
You grin crookedly at Archales.
Speaking to Evia, Lylia says, "I shall. I tried to press my elbow into his side, where he was wounded, but he guarded it well."
Lylia nods in agreement at Hapenlok.
Speaking to Hapenlok, Albanus says, "Her judgment is poor. I honestly think she's infatuated with Rone."
Speaking to Albanus, Hapenlok says, "Something was tried. It failed. This nonsense is non-productive."
Roelaren whispers, "Thanks for helping Lylia get free."
Speaking lightly to Archales, you say, "I was just happy we were the two finalists... half-elves there in the elves' tournament."
You smirk.
You wink at Archales.
You hug Roelaren, who wraps you in a warm embrace.
Evia nods at Lylia.
Roelaren hugs you, and you wrap her in a warm embrace.
Roelaren hugs Lylia.
Ysharra starts chuckling at you!
Goblyn laughs!
Goblyn agrees with Lylia.
Ysharra kisses Lylia on the cheek.
Speaking to Lylia, Roelaren says, "So happy ye are alive and with us."
You glance upward and whistle quietly, an innocent look on your face.
Cruxophim chuckles.
Roelaren smiles at Lylia.
Speaking mischievously to Ysharra, you confide, "We really stuck it to 'em."
Cruxophim grins at Lylia.
Speaking to you, Ysharra asks, "Stuck to them, hm?"
Hapenlok murmurs, "And this is why I hate people in general."
Goblyn leans over and whispers, "You do think it is -more- or -less- likely that the vigilante will be attacking you now?"
You nod eagerly at Ysharra.
You quietly whisper to Goblyn, "Less likely, I think."
Dirra says, "May I just say...."
Speaking seriously to Cruxophim, Dreuntar says, "Popcorn on the bar before you leave office. Think about it seriously."
You tilt your head slightly toward Dirra, noting the subtle changes in her muscles and breathing.
Goblyn cocks her head at you.
Speaking quietly to Hapenlok, Pukk says, "Well, it if makes you feel better. I like you Happy."
You grin impishly at Goblyn.
Goblyn whispers, "This does make you happy or not so happy?"
You quietly whisper to Goblyn, "It makes me happy. I've been hoping someone could get close to him as an ally... even if only a feigned one... to learn more about him."
Lylia takes a drink from her cold water.
Lylia removes an embroidered sapphire silk handkerchief from in her wrap.
Opinions and Challenges
Speaking gently to Stonmel, Cruxophim reminds, "Look. You are more than entitled to your opinion, I'm not going to dissuade you of that. And I don't agree with that course of action either, but we have laws here, and she was not in violation of any of them. I will consider the ramifications of this."
(Lylia dips a corner of her handkerchief into her glass of cool water and delicately dabs at her temples.)
Lylia fans herself.
Hapenlok says, "Because if I had arrived there first, you'd all be lining up to lynch me. Guaranteed."
Speaking wryly to Albanus, Cruxophim adds, "And yours, as well."
You nod in agreement at Cruxophim.
Stonmel glances at Cruxophim.
Hapenlok says, "And Silvean would be coming out of retirement to find me."
Hapenlok grins wryly.
Cruxophim begins chuckling at Hapenlok!
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "I wouldn't be sad if you randomly fell off a high place in the next few days."
Falvicar wiggles his ears at you.
Speaking seriously to Albanus, you comment, "We know."
You chortle.
Speaking wryly to Albanus, Cruxophim remarks, "The feeling is mutual."
Raelee narrows her eyes slightly, studying Lylia with a cool, analytical gaze.
Speaking firmly to Hapenlok, Lylia says, "Not I. I would have vouched for your choice as well. No matter what it was."
You wiggle your eyebrows at Falvicar.
Dirra says, "If Miss Leafiara wanted to aid him, she very well could have whisked him from town walls and had him long on the road to other environs. She confessed a crime but that does not make her guilty of anything since then, She made a choice, we all do every moment of every day, maybe benefit of the doubt here."
Speaking to Albanus, Shinann says, "Sounds like something the vigilante would say."
Lylia adds, "And Silvean travels a good bit. He is not 'retired.'."
You nod at Dirra.
Lylia shakes her head.
Stonmel says, "It has never been made more clear to the citizenry that this threat is not being taken seriously enough, than tonight."
Irar ponders.
Speaking to Shinann, Albanus says, "Oh yes, I'm the vigilante."
Thrassus asks, "I wonder if that shard's effect will be longer lasting on Rone, since he was the target of it?"
Lylia nods in agreement at Dirra.
Xorus says, "He is far too young to be that sedentary."
Speaking to Dirra, Lylia says, "Well said."
Shinann says, "I did not say you were."
Goblyn bursts out in loud, raucous laughter at Albanus.
Dirra curtsies to Lylia.
Speaking to Thrassus, Lylia says, "That is my surmise. I was unable to do much."
Speaking calmly to Stonmel, Cruxophim states, "What, half the populace out scouring the lands was not enough? I see."
Lylia looks thoughtful for a moment, then shrugs.
You calmly say, "I am not even saying I made the best move. There might have been one better. But it was the choice I made in the heat of the moment, in a very difficult situation."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "I'm turning myself in, hand over the 10 million."
Irar says, "I'll take my leave, and leave you folks to sort out the threats and defenses."
Thrassus nods at Lylia.
Speaking to Lylia, Irar says, "I am glad that you are safe."
Cruxophim wryly remarks, "I'll be sure and hire more mercenaries to die, then."
You earnestly say, "And despite our in-fighting, I do hope none of you will ever have to face a hostage situation like that--never mind be the hostage. As Lylia was. And as I've been before."
Lylia bows to Irar.
Goblyn looks thoughtfully at you.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "Captain Shinann has cracked the case, I am the vigilante."
Speaking to Irar, Lylia says, "I am very glad to be safe."
Irar says, "This night has troubled me greatly, and I need to pray on this."
Irar smiles at Lylia.
You nod understandingly at Irar.
Speaking to you, Hapenlok whispers aloud, "Next time...kill the hostage. Problem solved."
Dirra says, "And..."
You stare at Hapenlok.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Thrassus says, "We have have a limited window of time to catch him."
Speaking skeptically to Albanus, Cruxophim comments, "You don't look nearly agile enough."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Stonmel says, "I'm not going to play politics with you. The fact that Leafiara is not condemed for her actions is an insult to all the victims of Rone."
Falvicar whispers, "I'll protect ye if you need it."
You quietly whisper to Falvicar, "I appreciate that. Thank you."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "It's all a show."
(Stonmel turns towards the exit.)
Dirra says, "Many who have erred deserve redemption. This I know for myself."
Stonmel just went through a varnished modwir door.
Cruxophim wryly retorts, "Oh, you aren't? So I should just disregard all you've said for the last 20 minutes?"
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "I'm actually a human operating a giantkin golem from the inside."
You gaze in wonder at your surroundings.
Lylia takes a drink from her cold water.
Cruxophim calmly concludes, "Done."
You bury your face in your hands.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Hapenlok says, "I already did."
Pukk quietly says, "Not all the victims. I died too and I don't hold anything against Leafy."
Speaking to you, Albanus says, "You were right, there was another golem, but it wasn't the Deacon."
You hug Pukk, who wraps you in a warm embrace.
Speaking to Pukk, you remind, "And I lost my leg to the bomb too."
You nod.
Speaking to Pukk, Hapenlok says, "I was close to the blast. i really don't know how I survived it ..mostly intact."
Speaking to Pukk, Lylia says, "What happened after I was taken? I heard screaming."
Lylia says, "I thought for one breathless moment that I had accidentally dropped that crimson orb."
Speaking cheerfully to Lylia, Hapenlok exclaims, "We all exploded!"
Lylia furrows her brow.
Speaking quietly to Hapenlok, Pukk says, "You are short. It went right over head."
Speaking softly to you, Wintersylph says, "This is not the first, nor will it be the Last, I greatful you acted, as I hope others do in the future, non action is accepted failure, you acted, and so right or wrong, it was honorable as a citizen."
Speaking to Lylia, Albanus says, "Oh, nothing. Just a lot of dead people, and missing limbs. Normal day for you."
Speaking quietly to Cruxophim, Khylynnia says, "I stopped listening to him as soon as I heard him begin blathering on about treason."
Lylia gives Evia a friendly hug.
Lylia takes a drink from her cold water.
Speaking wryly to Khylynnia, Cruxophim remarks, "He's an idiot with an opinion."
The voice of Rekarth says, "The odd device was apparently some manner of explosive."
Jhenni says, "My body was wounded and I'll always hold that against Leafiara....if she'll let me."
Jhenni winks at you.
You poke Jhenni in the ribs.
Speaking lightly to Jhenni, you say, "I was wounded too. And... it really hurt."
Speaking quietly to Cruxophim, Khylynnia says, "You got that half right...he IS an idiot."
You grumble.
Lylia nods.
Lylia put an embroidered sapphire silk handkerchief in her wrap.
Speaking quietly to you, Pukk asks, "You give him a inch and he takes a leg?"
Speaking calmly to Khylynnia, Cruxophim reminds, "Everyone has a right to their opinion."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "Rather an idiot with an objective opinion than a mayor with a serious case of bias."
Shinann says, "Well, we can only move forward. I am glad you are safe, Lylia."
Shinann says, "Excuse me."
Speaking heavily to Pukk, you acknowledge, "Something like that."
Albanus scoffs at Cruxophim.
Shinann just went through a varnished modwir door.
Hapenlok says, "Hate to say it, but I agree with Shinann. this time."
You nod at Hapenlok.
Pukk quietly says, "What is the world coming to."
Speaking calmly to Albanus, Cruxophim assures, "I'm hardly biased. This 'Rone' has it one for me as much as anyone."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "You're obviously biased toward those that you favor."
Suprie says, "History lately of people settin themselve up ta avoid suspicion, Mayor."
Lylia takes a drink from her cold water.
Speaking wryly to Albanus, Cruxophim counters, "Oh? Is that why I don't have you in chains for assaulting me? Because I could. And I certainly do not favor you, I assure you."
Hapenlok says, "But this is what happens when you follow a complicated scheme devised by a complete maniac who more than likely is giggling about the collateral damage tonight."
Cruxophim laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement from Lylia.
Hapenlok says, "So, you know."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "You going around biting people is grounds enough for you to be in chains, and you do it unprovoked."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Hapenlok says, "Devise your own plan this time."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "But, you see no issue with that."
You gaze in amusement at Albanus.
Speaking dismissively to Albanus, Cruxophim jests, "They aren't Mayor."
Speaking lightly to Albanus, you say, "Jhenni and Khy here bite me all the time and I don't mind."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "Mmhm."
You glance between Jhenni and Khylynnia.
You nod once.
Speaking to Goblyn, Hapenlok asks, "Did you happen to recover my limb?"
Khylynnia giggles at you.
Speaking to Pukk, you muse, "I think you might have even bit me once or twice."
Jhenni snickers at you!
Lylia says, "I am not certain about that, Hapenlok. He did not seem to be willing to kill wantonly. At least, he did not seem to wish to kill me, although I have no doubt he might have if Leafiara had not found me."
You nod at Lylia.
Speaking to Lylia, Hapenlok says, "I was referring to Stephos."
Pukk grins at you.
Speaking to Lylia, Albanus says, "For a guy that doesn't want to kill wantonly, he did a really good job of it."
A Report From Leafiara
Speaking calmly to you, Cruxophim comments, "I am curious about one thing, and that is why you saw fit to aid someone so intent on killing our citizens."
Lylia dismissively says, "Oh, him."
Cruxophim looks thoughtfully at you.
Speaking to Lylia, Hapenlok says, "Well, he was greatly wounded. That's usually the worst time to corner someone, to be sure."
Speaking curiously to you, Cruxophim inquires, "Do you believe that is why Lylia was released?"
Albanus says, "Thirty-five people."
Speaking to Cruxophim, you explain, "To save Lylia's life, as I've said. I didn't see another way."
You nod at Cruxophim.
Albanus says, "Rone killed thirty-five people with that device of his."
Lylia says, "Yes, he would have no trouble killing any number of people to have his way. I have not forgotten his workings with the Krolvin slavers." [In reference to Hap's comment, which was in reference to Stephos]
Albanus says, "And wounded more."
Speaking to Lylia, Hapenlok says, "In similar cirumstances? i would have called down meteors. And probably eminitated a wave of flames."
Cruxophim nods grimly at Albanus.
Speaking to Albanus, Lylia murmurs, "Then I feel especially fortunate that I was not one of them."
Speaking to Cruxophim, you continue, "He had to let go of her with one arm when he thought I would tend him--to open up his cloak."
Speaking to Lylia, Hapenlok says, "You would have opened a void."
You nod in agreement at Lylia.
You give Lylia a strong, encouraging smile.
Speaking to Hapenlok, Lylia says, "I certainly tried."
Speaking to Lylia, Albanus says, "He took quite a few limbs, including my right arm."
Dirra cocks her head at Lylia.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Berkana says, "Your cleaning bill for this office must be astronomical."
Speaking curiously to you, Cruxophim inquires, "Did you learn anything further from that experience?"
Cruxophim laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement from Berkana.
Lylia noncommittally says, "Pity."
You add, "And since Miss Lylia's magic wasn't working, I assumed mine wouldn't either. I could be wrong, but it was what I thought."
You nod.
Lylia nods to you.
Speaking to Lylia, Dirra asks, "Do you believe she acted regardless of your well being?"
Speaking to Berkana, Goblyn grumbles, "I do wish he would not make it cleaned up."
Speaking regretfully to Cruxophim, you say, "I didn't. Just the blue or gray eyes that Miss Lylia mentioned."
Speaking to Goblyn, Berkana says, "All the animals."
Speaking mischievously to Berkana, Cruxophim remarks, "Something like that."
Speaking to you, Albanus says, "According to the Dwarven Ranger, you were able to cast a sanctuary over the area."
Hapenlok says, "Well. At least you all know a bit more about this person than you did before."
Speaking to you, Albanus says, "Obviously your magic was working if that is the case."
Hapenlok says, "Not much to go on, but there you have it."
Speaking calmly to you, Cruxophim suggests, "There's nothing that I can charge you with, but it might behoove you to issue a public apology. If you choose to, obviously such is your choice."
You calmly remind, "Peaceful magic works in many places where harmful magic doesn't. I wanted to save Lylia, not inflame the situation."
Speaking to Dirra, Lylia says, "I believe she acted on behalf of my well-being. She assessed the situation critically and quickly, as a good healer can, and chose the course of action that would cost the fewest lives."
Dirra frowns.
You add, "And the sanctuary stopped him from harming her."
Lylia adds, "Including my own."
You nod at Lylia.
Speaking to you, Albanus says, "No magic was working inside town after Stephos shattered that crystal, and Rone has proven before that he can ignore sanctuary status."
Speaking to you, Dirra asks, "Did you alert all where he was? Discreetly of course?"
Speaking calmly to Albanus, Cruxophim inquires, "Did you witness all this?"
Speaking to Albanus, Hapenlok asks, "She acted as a priestess. I would have acted as I was wont to do. Can you honestly tell me, if it had been me? You wouldn't be up in arms about me killing Lylia and trying to take down Rone?"
Speaking to Albanus, you rebut, "When he strikes from the mist, yes. He was too injured."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "I can go on Stonmel's words."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "As you can go on her words."
Speaking seriously to Cruxophim, you say, "I'll issue a public statement and describe the situation. Whether people want me to apologize is up to them."
You nod at Cruxophim.
Hapenlok says, "Because that's exactly what I was prepared to do."
Hapenlok says, "And if it happens again? I'm prepared to do it."
Lylia says, "Indeed, why trust the words of scores of others when you can trust the words of one person who already agrees with you."
Speaking calmly to Albanus, Cruxophim repeats, "Of course, I'm not here to dictate what you believe, even if it is not what I believe."
Cruxophim begins chuckling at Albanus!
Dirra glances at you.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "She already admitted to laying down a sanctuary."
Speaking embarrassedly to Dirra, you say, "I didn't, no. I was too much in shock that I stumbled across them--after how well he'd eluded us. I wasn't thinking straight on that."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "I heard thoughts of someone warning the Empaths and Clerics to move to Voln after the crystal due to the antimagical nature, as well as reports of magic working outside of the town."
Lylia admits, "I believe few of us were thinking straight at the moment. Including Rone himself, if I do not miss my guess."
Speaking to Lylia, Dirra asks, "Do you believe she was aiding you?"
You nod at Lylia.
Goblyn cocks her head at Lylia.
Dirra cocks her head at Lylia.
Lylia nods at Dirra.
Speaking patiently to Albanus, Cruxophim reminds, "That was actually a sound move, preventing him from assaulting his captive. Hostage negotiations 101."
Zosopage asks, "Wait one thing is bugging me here. Where you were, magic was useable correct?"
Zosopage peers quizzically at you.
Speaking to Albanus, Hapenlok says, "That was me. You're welcome."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Albanus says, "Thanks."
Lylia says, "I can say with some certainty that was her goal."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus asks, "Mayor. Do you remember the night that Madmountan was assaulted?"
Zosopage says, "Hense the sanct."
Speaking to Zosopage, you explain, "Sanctuary magic, at least, I can't speak for any other kind of magic. Certainly Miss Lylia's didn't or she would have escaped."
Lylia says, "Which, of course, we also know because she has told us so and has no reason to lie."
Lylia sets her mouth in a thin line of disapproval.
Lylia nods to you.
Speaking to Albanus, Goblyn complains, "I did miss this assault on Madmountan."
Formal Investigation?
Speaking seriously to you, Cruxophim warns, "I'm going to request that a formal investigation take place regarding your conduct. While I don't know that any charges can be filed, I do feel it deserves investigating."
Zosopage says, "So in that case how can Stonmel say for certain his spells would even have worked."
Zosopage says, "If they had then Rone's would have too."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "He was assaulted in town square central. Rone has proven he can ignore permanent sanctuaries, no less temporary ones."
Speaking calmly to you, Cruxophim assures, "This is nothing personal, of course."
Speaking to Goblyn, Thrassus says, "I would describe it more as a tickling than an assult."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Marijka says, "I request to be tasked with this investigation."
Goblyn frowns at Cruxophim.
Goblyn glances at you.
You lightly acknowledge, "I will say... it's surprising that -right- after I confess to my wrongdoings around Dennet, people are suspecting me of lying now. Even though I've said I could have made mistakes in the heat of the moment."
Cruxophim cocks his head at Marijka.
You furrow your brow, probably adding a wrinkle or two in the process.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Lylia says, "I hope that you will allow me to write a full account that may be weighed in this investigation."
Dirra says, "Well we Imperialists believe in the Rysus Code. Law and court, and all. I would say if victim and accused speak the same tale, unless you wish a full court adjudication should be believed."
Speaking calmly to Lylia, Cruxophim assures, "Of course."
Lylia nods in agreement at Dirra.
Speaking understandingly to Cruxophim, you say, "Of course, my fr--of course, Mayor. It's worth pursuing."
Goblyn whispers, "You will like me to feed him a disgusting pie later, maybe one with raspberries or with lemon and nothing dead in it, for what he is saying?"
Goblyn raises an eyebrow in your direction.
You quietly whisper to Goblyn, "Feed who?"
Dirra says, "Your choosing."
You gaze in amusement at Goblyn.
Speaking calmly to you, Cruxophim explains, "We'll get depositions from all involved."
Goblyn glances at Cruxophim.
Goblyn flashes you a toothy grin.
You nod in agreement at Cruxophim.
You nod eagerly at Goblyn.
You grin slowly.
Goblyn laughs!
You quietly whisper to Goblyn, "Oh, please!"
Goblyn nods in agreement to you.
You grin impishly.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Marijka explains, "I did keep you informed, as a courtesy, with the status of my last investigation. I trust you are assured of my methodical and logical approach. You've seen my work."
Goblyn giggles.
Speaking amusedly to you, Cruxophim repeats, "I'm fairly sure there's nothing to charge you with, technically speaking, however... due process and all that."
Dirra says, "But for the moment if accused and victim say the same, content to not see shadow."
Cruxophim looks thoughtfully at Marijka.
Speaking uncertainly to Marijka, you remind, "It's well known you're one of my close friends... that would be a conflict of interest."
Lylia takes a drink from her cold water.
Albanus says, "Honestly? I think all of you collude with one another to find loopholes and circumvent proceedings and the law."
Lylia hides her face in her upturned palm and slowly shakes her head. After a barely audible sigh, she regards Albanus with world-weary gaze.
Speaking amusedly to Marijka, Cruxophim remarks, "She's got a point."
Cruxophim glances at you.
Albanus says, "All. Of. You."
You continue, "Because unlike what our favorite mad priest here said, I -am- interested in going along with the law."
Speaking to you, Marijka observes, "I was an investigator before I was your friend, and as a follower of Koar, I am sworn to not allow friendship to sway justice."
Speaking calmly to Albanus, Cruxophim inquires, "Tell me, what law did she break?"
Cruxophim peers quizzically at Albanus.
Speaking witheringly to Albanus, Hapenlok asks, "You include me with them?"
Lylia wearily says, "It is always the thief who worries about his pockets being picked. I am not sure you want to walk that road."
Lylia shakes her head.
Speaking sincerely to Marijka, you say, "I know that, but the townspeople might not see it that way. And rightly so."
You insist, "We should find someone neutral."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "Accessory to murder. Don't give me none of that hoosegow about "outside of the walls" nonsense either."
Speaking threateningly to Albanus, Hapenlok says, "Because.... I think I'm starting to get angry."
Speaking to you, Marijka asks, "Neutral like... who? Koar Himself?"
Speaking to Cruxophim, Dirra says, "Of course you can open a court matter into this."
Speaking amusedly to Albanus, you say, "It's amazing how often you disregard the law, like what's in our jursidiction, while speaking openly against a vigilante."
Speaking calmly to Albanus, Cruxophim states, "We'll look into it. I don't think those actions can be construed as abetting."
Lylia nods to you.
Speaking to Hapenlok, Albanus says, "It seems you're an outsider, but I'm not completely sure."
Speaking witheringly to Albanus, Hapenlok asks, "Were you even there?"
You amusedly repeat, "An outsider. Uh-huh."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Albanus says, "No one was except Lylia, Leafiara, Stonmel, and Rone."
You raise your voice in merry laughter.
Speaking calmly to Albanus, Cruxophim chides, "Some people actually -abide- by their oaths to help all in dire need without bias."
Speaking to Albanus, Hapenlok asks, "And you're casting judgment?"
You seriously state, "Hap's been here for years. Far longer than many."
Hapenlok says, "I'm less inclined to give these people here benefit of the doubt on ANYTHING."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Albanus says, "I am attempting to get judgement from the court system."
Speaking to Albanus, Zosopage asks, "If it were you that was in Lylia's shoes, would you have given up your life. perhaps not able to even be raised?"
Lylia quips, "Then by all means, let us find Rone and ask him. You already believe one over two; perhaps adding a third voice would make a difference."
Speaking to Zosopage, Albanus says, "To get the murderer? Yes."
Zosopage asks, "At the risk of permanent death?"
Speaking to Albanus, Dirra says, "Fairly sure the Rysus Code is not applied here."
Albanus nods at Zosopage.
Zosopage says, "Easy to say."
Speaking softly to Cruxophim, Wintersylph says, "I can't believe we are haveing this discourse on an Empath's healing and somehow comparing it to Murder, or escape or some sort of conspiriacy, Leaf did what all Empaths could and should do, she healed, she embraced code of ethics to save not one, but two lives, yet we are condemming her for that? This is disgraceful, how we can point fingers in a post invasion is like crying over spilled milk, we need to move forward."
Cruxophim begins chuckling at Lylia!
Dirra says, "Nor any other Imperial rule."
Lylia nods emphatically at Wintersylph!
You amusedly clarify, "I am not an empath, but I do appreciate the thought."
Speaking gently to Wintersylph, Cruxophim assures, "It's not, I think it's a farce myself."
(OOC) You whisper, "I'm still wondering if Kenstrom thought I was an empath." to your group.
Lylia says, "A healer, then. A compassionate soul."
Lylia nods to you.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "I don't know what oaths you think someone has taken."
Suprie says, "She ain't a healer, so that isn't quite right."
You smile at Lylia.
Hapenlok says, "In the heat of the moment, people act instinctively."
Hapenlok says, "They act as they're trained."
(OOC) You whisper, "Would explain a lot about the Shinann/Sareyna/Leafiara team to watch Reannah, heh." to your group.
Wintersylph giggles at you.
Speaking wryly to Albanus, Cruxophim retorts, "Apparently none you've taken."
Cruxophim begins chuckling at Albanus!
Zosopage says, "It stands to reason if Stonmel could have cast upon Rone. Rone could have done so in return."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "Quite."
Speaking interestedly to Zosopage, you say, "A good thought."
Goblyn whispers, "Even if you are not an empath, you do know the ways of the body in some respects, yes? You give and take life from corpses. You do know when they are too injured to be making the life to."
Goblyn shrugs at you.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus asks, "Did you take an oath when you became Mayor, or did they just toss you arse-over-teakettle into the office?"
You nod faintly at Goblyn.
You quietly whisper to Goblyn, "That is very true."
Goblyn smiles at you.
Speaking calmly to Albanus, Cruxophim concludes, "I'll submit it to the courts, and let them decide. Feel free to close your mouth at any point, less more hot air escape it -- it's warm enough in here as is."
You idly say, "I don't remember an oath. I did watch Pup hand him the reins... figuratively."
Dirra says, "Just my opinion......"
Speaking to Dirra, Lylia says, "One I am grateful you are willing to share."
Lylia inclines her head.
You tilt your head slightly toward Dirra, noting the subtle changes in her muscles and breathing.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "Oh yes, wouldn't want to upset the cozy little status quo you and your...associates...have."
Speaking grimly to you, Cruxophim warns, "Endless paperwork."
Cruxophim starts chuckling at you!
Hapenlok says, "Well, I'm not one of those hypocrites that's going to question your judgment, Leafiara."
Hapenlok shrugs at you.
Lylia says, "I appreciate cooler heads when I have been through so much tonight already."
Lylia closes her eyes for a moment.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "Forgive me Mayor, I throw myself at the mercy of your office."
You calmly say, "Despite the sparring, I do appreciate everyone's thoughts. I can't learn if I'm not challenged."
Speaking calmly to Albanus, Cruxophim muses, "Perhaps you're just a bit sore that no one seems to like you."
You tilt your head slightly toward Dirra, noting the subtle changes in her muscles and breathing.
Speaking to Albanus, Suprie says, "That's probably enough boy."
Goblyn gazes with interest at Lylia.
Speaking to you, Hapenlok says, "But I do in all seriousness, say that the next time you find yourself in a similar situation? Consider shooting the hostage."
Speaking to Suprie, Albanus says, "Messenger."
Speaking carefully to Hapenlok, you say, "I know that's what you'd say, yes... but it's not something I can bring myself to do."
Zosopage says, "It was a judgement call, right or wrong it is done and over with and we carry on with any consequences even if they are harsh."
Speaking to Albanus, Suprie says, "Not when ya lose your head."
Speaking to Suprie, Albanus says, "I care not for your opinion. And if you don't wish to hear what I have to say to the Mayor, you can leave."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "What was I-oh right, I actually don't care much if people like me."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "I'm not running for public office."
Dirra says, "How many of you in light of a confession on a tree took the time to ask Miss Leafiara about it? You are quick to condemn and I am willing to wager few investigated. Shame on you now to blame on half information. She was wrong, she has admitted it. She works to clear her name. This eve's victim does not blame her. I think we should all agree that we need to move forward proactively."
Suprie says, "Some people just don't have no sense."
Speaking quietly to Albanus, Khylynnia says, "It isn't that we don't wish to hear what you have to say to the Mayor, it is that you have said it so many times we are getting tired of it. You have beaten this dead horse enough, let's move on."
Stephos' Plinite? Chance of Poison?
You absently wonder, "While we're here, did anyone see if Stephos -used- the shard? All of it or only part?"
You smile at Dirra.
Speaking appreciatively to Dirra, you say, "Thank you. Almost nobody seemed to approach me about it."
Albanus says, "He used it, no idea if it was the entire thing."
Speaking absently to you, Cruxophim remarks, "All of it, I'd assume."
Speaking to you, Thrassus says, "He threw it on the ground at Rone, where it shattered."
Speaking to Dirra, Hapenlok says, "To be fair, I'm just glad it's someone other than me, for a change that's getting questions and daggers stared...and probably thrown at them."
Hapenlok grins mischievously.
You note, "Only Crux, Shinann, Stormy, and Khy. And Cay."
You nod at Thrassus.
Lylia nods in agreement at Dirra.
Speaking to you, Hapenlok says, "And sort of me."
You thoughtfully say, "So Stephos can't use that same trick next time he tries..."
Thrassus nods to you.
You nod at Hapenlok.
Speaking idly to you, Marijka says, "I would have, but it was already being discussed when I got back here."
Suprie says, "Not unless he's got more of those."
Albanus says, "Unless he has more than one shard, or split it into pieces."
Xorus says, "With any foresight in his planning his men would have been using poisoned bolts."
Xorus says, "I suppose we shall see."
Thrassus says, "I suspect that the shard may have a longer effect on Rone since he was the main target of it."
Speaking to Xorus, Hapenlok says, "It's what I was wondering."
Speaking to Xorus, Albanus says, "I don't think Stephos was planning on someone patching Rone up after he was hit with the bolt."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Hapenlok asks, "Crux, do you happen to have any knowledge if those people were using poisoned bolts?"
Speaking absently to Hapenlok, Cruxophim remarks, "Not to my knowledge."
Speaking to Berkana, Marijka says, "I figure if they didn't want an audience, they'd retire to a place which isn't literally owned by the town citizens."
Speaking to Xorus, Albanus says, "Of course, if he was poisoned, I'm sure Leafiara would have cured that."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Hapenlok says, "If they were smart, they did."
Speaking to Marijka, Berkana says, "Not always true, but... sure."
Speaking simply to Albanus, you agree, "Indeed, he didn't seem concerned about poison."
Speaking to Albanus, Hapenlok says, "Well, the poisons Stephos would likely use wouldn't be able to be cured by normal means."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Albanus asks, "Have experience with such?"
Speaking to Albanus, Hapenlok says, "Well, this town does, yes."
Cruxophim bemusedly jests, "He's not Carenos, come on now."
You remind, "Speaking of Carenos... for the record, I didn't kill him when I had him alone, no matter how badly I wanted to. I do care about the law."
Xorus says, "Indeed. Ysharra killed him."
Hapenlok says, "So, you know...her binding the wounds likely prevented death by bloodloss, but death by poison is a distinct possibility."
You nod slowly at Xorus.
Lylia closes her eyes for a moment.
Hapenlok says, "Which could mean that the bodies will pile up, as our vigilante comes to realize that his time may be limited, if that's the case."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Albanus says, "I doubt they were poisoned bolts. Leafiara admitted that Rone wasn't concerned about it. I believe he would have known if he was poisoned, unless it's simply the most insidious poison."
Cruxophim carefully reminds, "I think it best we avoid poison, lest we end up in another situation like Larsya, Carenos, Cyph... need I go on?"
Speaking wryly to Cruxophim, Hapenlok asks, "Did you tell ...him that?"
Suprie says, "What's that sayin? Fool us five times..."
Speaking wryly to Hapenlok, Cruxophim muses, "I was just speaking in general."
Hapenlok says, "Well."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "I mean, your friend there has a cart of poisons. Out in front of her pie shop."
Speaking baffledly to Cruxophim, Goblyn asks, "What is wrong with this situation that was like Carenos and Cyph?"
Cruxophim begins chuckling at Goblyn!
Cruxophim wryly clarifies, "It was a jest, all... calm down."
Xorus says, "And little Larsya."
Cruxophim gazes in amusement at Hapenlok.
Goblyn cocks her head at Hapenlok.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "There's also a corpse in the basement, which I'm sure is in violation of some sort of city ordnance."
Goblyn blinks at Albanus.
Speaking calmly to Albanus, Cruxophim assures, "No, it isn't."
Albanus stares at Cruxophim.
Speaking confusedly to Albanus, Goblyn asks, "You do mean Cookie?"
Speaking to Albanus, Hapenlok says, "Only the old Mayor, pay it no mind."
Hapenlok says, "If you mean here."
Hapenlok says, "Old Stennis' bones."
Cruxophim snickers at Hapenlok.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus asks, "Really? There's no city code about keeping corpses in the same shop that you sell edibles out of?"
Hapenlok says, "He got too greedy."
Albanus rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Jhenni says, "But Lord Mayor, no one in this town is allowed to jest, lest some be offended and it is a greater crime to laugh than to cry."
Goblyn scowls at Albanus.
Lylia smiles at Xorus.
You grin crookedly at Jhenni.
Speaking to Albanus, Goblyn grumbles, "He does have a name."
Lylia nods at Jhenni.
Speaking to Goblyn, Albanus says, "He needs to be buried."
Goblyn mutters something about prejudices.
Goblyn blinks at Albanus.
Speaking to Albanus, Hapenlok exclaims, "NO. He belongs in a museum!"
Speaking amusedly to Albanus, Cruxophim reminds, "It's nowhere in proximity, and this isn't the Empire... we don't have stringent food preparation guidelines, or Helga's would have closed years ago."
Cruxophim snickers at Albanus.
You laugh softly, trying to hide your amusement.
Speaking to Albanus, Goblyn complains, "Why will you want to bury him? He will be very bored if he can only be looking at dirt all day and night."
Cruxophim nods grimly at Goblyn.
Hapenlok says, "Well, thanks everyone, for an entertaining evening."
Goblyn looks at Hapenlok and breaks into a cheeky grin.
Hapenlok says, "You've all reminded me why I hate all of you."
Goblyn agrees with Khylynnia.
Speaking to Hapenlok, Suprie asks, "Nice ta watch it from the outside, eh?"
Goblyn blinks at Hapenlok.
Speaking to herself, Dirra says, "Not involving myself in that matter."
Speaking quietly to Albanus, Khylynnia says, "Perhaps we should bury you and see how well you like it."
Goblyn scowls at Hapenlok.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "I'm sure her kitchen is closed, I can't find any actual food there. Just that pot of...something she keeps stirring."
Speaking amusedly to Hapenlok, you counter, "As if you need reminders."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Lylia says, "And I hope you have a fine night too."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Meureii laments, "That hurts."
Speaking to Goblyn, Hapenlok says, "Almost all of you."
Speaking dubiously to Hapenlok, Goblyn asks, "You are hating me, Hapenlok?"
Speaking to Lylia, Hapenlok says, "You're okay."
Speaking monotonously to Albanus, Cruxophim inquires, "Did you try actually ordering something?"
Hapenlok and Lylia shake hands.
Speaking to Cruxophim, Albanus says, "Only saw drinks."
Cruxophim kisses Lylia tenderly on the cheek.
Speaking to Falvicar, Hapenlok reminds, "ALMOST all."
Lylia bows to Hapenlok.
Speaking to Khylynnia, Albanus says, "You may bury me when I am permanently dead, like that poor fellow in the basement."
Lylia rests a gentle hand on Cruxophim's arm.
Lylia smiles.
Speaking to Hapenlok, Zosopage asks, "50 50 maybe?"
Speaking to Albanus, Hapenlok says, "Nope. I got a better plan for your corpse."
Speaking slowly to Albanus, Cruxophim reminds, "Rolton sandwiches, turnips, etcetera."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Albanus says, "This is assuming you outlive me."
Speaking to Albanus, Hapenlok says, "I will."
Cruxophim calmly states, "Well, I suppose I'd best go file this report."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Albanus says, "Perhaps."
Cruxophim amicably states, "I may or may be back for a while, feel free to linger if you wish."
Speaking to Albanus, Goblyn notes, "I will maybe save some room for you on the couch near Cookie."
Speaking quietly to Albanus, Khylynnia says, "At this juncture, and by your incessant ramblings on, it would appear that you are already brain dead and that your body hasn't caught on yet, so burying you might be doing you a service."
You simply remind, "Do tell me when we're ready for the formal investig--"
You bemusedly say, "Ah... he ran off."
Attacks and Sanctuaries
[discussion tapers off with Crux gone, but just for fun, I've jumped ahead a bit...]
Hapenlok says, "I would have killed you all if I were cornered."
Speaking to Hapenlok, you assure, "We know. Trust us, we know."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Meureii says, "You probably would have done a better job."
Hapenlok says, "I still might kill you all at one point or another."
Hapenlok pulls aside his coat and shows Meureii a fiery meteor shower tattoo.
Hapenlok says, "Hopefully not all at once."
Goblyn frowns at Hapenlok.
Hapenlok says, "Then that means I'm moving to another continent again."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Meureii says, "Dance and dodge."
Dirra says, "And I do not know what I would have done, but Miss Lylia's safety would have been my only concern."
Speaking to Hapenlok, you offer, "Meteor Swarms are pretty decent ways to kill everybody. Not that I have to tell you this, of all people."
Speaking boredly to Hapenlok, Saranja says, "I know I killed you at least once... so, fair is fair."
Speaking confusedly to Saranja, Hapenlok asks, "When?"
Speaking to Saranja, Hapenlok says, "I honestly cannot remember you doing that. i think you're lying."
Speaking to Dirra, Lylia says, "I am honored to have so many who would look after my safety so well."
Saranja quietly says, "Some body party of Miss Goblyn's."
Hapenlok says, "Oh, that's probably why I don't remember it."
Speaking to Saranja, Goblyn asks, "Maybe you will show him again?"
Dirra says, "Choices in a moment are hard and fast, ripples afterwards rock every shore as tidal waves."
Hapenlok intones a phrase of elemental power while raising his hands...
Hapenlok gestures at Goblyn.
The evanescent shield shrouding Goblyn flares to life and absorbs the essence of the spell, dissipating it harmlessly.
Hapenlok snaps his fingers at Goblyn.
Speaking to Goblyn, Hapenlok exclaims, "Cheater!"
Goblyn laughs at Hapenlok!
A look of concentration briefly passes across Goblyn's face.
The air about Goblyn shimmers momentarily before the evanescent shield surrounding her collapses.
Hapenlok intones a phrase of elemental power while raising his hands...
Hapenlok gestures at Goblyn.
The floor beneath Hapenlok rumbles, then erupts in a shower of rubble that coalesces in to a large, pudgy hand in mid-air.
CS: +520 - TD: +443 + CvA: +20 + d100: +8 - -5 == +110
Warding failed!
Goblyn tries to avoid the stone hand, but it soon catches her with a loose grip that quickly tightens.
You chortle.
Speaking respectfully to Goblyn, Saranja says, "Not here, no."
Hapenlok slowly moves his hand in a waving motion, and the stone hand holding Goblyn moves in response...
CS: +520 - TD: +423 + CvA: +20 + d100: +90 - -5 == +212
Warding failed!
