Question & Images at Risk for Deletion
Hello, DESP914. I'm reaching out to you about a couple of things.
First, I noticed that you created a new category, Category:Darrgo's Gems and Fringes, and I'm not quite sure what the purpose of it is. Typically on the Gswiki, categories are used as a way to group (categorize) multiple related articles. Examples of this include Dwarf player characters (all Dwarf player character pages), Category:Combat Mechanics (anything related to combat mechanics), and Category:Ebon Gate Festival (everything related to all Ebon Gate Festivals). Based on the information shown in the category you created, it appears to be a list of available options that you are offering with sheath making, associated with your character Darrgo (prime). If that is actually the case, this list should be made as a subpage (not a category) to either your character's page or to your user page. It should not be a standalone article, and it definitely should not be a standalone category. Can you please help me understand what the intent of the category is? I can help with moving relevant information to an appropriate subpage if need be. You can respond either here or or on my user talk page, followed by ~~~~ to automatically add a "signature" at the end of your comment.
Second, I noticed that several of your recent uploaded images include what appear to be screenshots, including screenshots of existing Gswiki articles. While the Gswiki:Style guide does not fully apply to character pages (or subpages), I wanted to suggest that you consider either linking to the relevant section of the existing article, Sheath making, or transcluding the information from Sheath making to your character page. This is not something that you have to do, however it is generally recommended that redundant information be transcluded to reduce the accumulated file size imapct on the Gswiki.
Lastly, among your recent images uploaded, there are three that are missing information required by Gswiki:Policy. This does not apply to the screenshots taken of Gswiki content, due to the type of content and how it is available elsewhere on the Gswiki. File:Darrgo.jpg, File:Workshop.jpg, and File:Patterns.webp are missing the following information:
- Who created the image?
- If that person is not you, was permission granted by the artist to upload it?
- If AI imaging software was used to create it, what is the name of that software?
- If AI imaging software was used to create it, [[Category:AI artwork]] must be in the image description for inclusion in Category:AI artwork.
Please see Gswiki:Policy#Copyrights for more information about the image policy and its requirement to note image creators, what AI imaging software was used (if any), and if permission was granted by the creator to upload the image to the wiki. This information needs to be on the images as well as on all articles using them. In addition, all images using AI software in their creation are required to be included in Category:AI artwork. To add that text to the image file, you will need to click on "Edit Source" on the image file itself and add all of the required information. All articles using this image will also need to have their captions updated to include this required information.
If that information is not added within 7 days, these images will be deleted from the wiki. Please do not remove the {{moddelete}} template from the images. Another moderator or I will remove that template after your updates have been reviewed to ensure that they meet Gswiki:Policy requirements. If you have any questions about this process or need more information about the updated policy for images, please reach out to the wiki team on the Gemstone Discord forum's wiki thread. Thank you for understanding. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 08:49, 23 January 2025 (CST)
Hey there! sorry, I'm really new with this whole Wiki stuff ever since Nightpixie told me about it a little bit ago. I believe I added the AI artwork into those images, which were from the free site: https://magicstudio.com/ai-art-generator/ (except for the patterns image, i created that on a notepad). As for the Gems and Fringes page, it is to be a subcategory, but had no idea how to do it.. haha, sorry, i tried looking things up and was winging it, but clearly didn't do it right. Also, I'll definitely look into trying to link those images to the Sheath making page. I just wanted to make a type of "Workshop" category for my stuff that I create for people. Any assistance if i did the AI tags wrong on those images and subcategory change would be greatly appreciated as I'm a little off on this kinda thing ~~~~Darrgo 14:15, 23 January 2025 EST
- Thank you very much for letting me know! I made some modifications to those three images so that they are now all in compliance with Gswiki:Policy. When adding the category, you actually need to omit the nowiki markups as they prevent the category from actually working. I typically only include them in messages like these so that the text displays properly when viewing them. The captions that you provided for the images on Darrgo (prime) were good, however that information also needs to be on the images themselves. I have also added your caption information on the images themselves so that they comply with Policy. I noticed that you uploaded another image recently, File:Gencraft.jpg, which had a good caption but was missing the AI artwork category, so I have added that to this image as well. Please make sure to include this information on all future images and as captions for any articles featuring them or they may be flagged for moderator review.
- As for the mistaken category, I will go ahead and delete it at this point in time as there is no longer any content there and it appears that you have moved all information to Darrgo (prime). In the future, if you ever want to make a subpage of your character page, there are several ways you can go about it. You could use the Gswiki search option to go to, as one example, "Darrgo (prime)/Gems and fringes", and then click on the link above all of the pages listed that says to create the new subpage. Alternatively, you could also create a link on Darrgo (prime), such as, Darrgo (prime)/Gems and fringes, and then when viewing Darrgo (prime) click on that red link to create the new subpage. Hopefully this helps with your wiki endeavors moving forward. If you ever have any questions, there are a number of players (and staff) well versed in using the wiki who are always willing to offer help or tips on the Gemstone Discord forum's wiki thread. Thank you very much for helping me out there! I'm still learning and thought I had it right, but I see what you did on those images and at least I know how to do that going forward. I appreciate it!
