Article/Edits at Risk for Deletion

Hi there, FALAN. In reviewing some of the recent updates, I saw that you and another user have made edits to Missandai (prime), which appears to be a character page for someone else's character. There is no indication on the article's Discussion/Talk tab that Missandai's player gave you permission to create or edit a character page on their behalf. Gswiki:Policy prohibits users from editing character pages unless the character is theirs or they have been given permission by that character's player to make those edits. If you do have permission to edit this character page, you will need to indicate this by clearly stating it on its Discussion/Talk tab, Talk:Missandai (prime), that you have been given permission to do so by the player. Simply noting that in the edit reason for an article is not enough for Gswiki:Policy. Alternatively, Missandai's player can put that information on the discussion page. If you are Missandai's player, then you will instead need to state whether or not you have given any other users permission to edit the character page on its Discussion/Talk tab. When adding that information, please make sure to add ~~~~ at the end of your comments, which will automatically add a "signature" with your user name, plus the date and time of when your edit was made. If that information is not added within 7 days, your edits to the character page will be deleted from the wiki. If you have any questions about this process or need more information about the updated policy for editing character pages, please reach out to the wiki team on the Gemstone Discord forum's wiki thread. Thank you for understanding. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 11:15, 3 July 2024 (CDT)

__________________________________________________ Hi HOST-GSKEBECHET,

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I apologize for any confusion caused. I have been working closely with Missandai's player through private messages on Discord. She is on the official Discord server and is also a mentor, like myself.

I have informed Missandai about the need to indicate permission on the article's Discussion/Talk tab, and she will be taking care of this soon. It is likely that the "other player" you mentioned is actually her, as she has been directly involved in the editing process.

From my perspective, since Missandai herself has been editing and didn't remove any of the changes, it seemed acceptable. However, I understand the importance of adhering to the wiki policies.

Regarding the artwork, I assume I followed the correct procedures, but I am happy to provide more details if needed.

As a suggestion, perhaps implementing an "access denied" feature for unauthorized edits could help prevent similar issues in the future. I understand this might be complex and time-consuming, but it could be worth considering.

Thank you again for your understanding, and please let me know if there are any further steps I need to take.

Best regards, FALAN

FALAN, thank you very much for responding! The other user did clarify that they are Missandai's player and that you have permission to edit the character page. With regard to your "access denied" suggestion, that is unfortunately not possible given how the wiki permissions are set up. One of my roles as a moderator is to flag any irregularities in article editing, which includes edits that appear to possibly violate the current Gswiki:Policy. Most of these are resolved with just a follow up message, like the one I sent you. This process is simply to make sure that Gswiki:Policy is adhered to and is not any sort of official warning.
With regard to the images that you have uploaded, all of them have been reviewed at this point and all contain the required information for image copyrights. I did notice that you tend to forget to add [[Category:AI artwork]] as part of the image file notes when uploading AI-generated images. While I do add the required category the first few times a user forgets to add it, while still providing all other required information for an AI-generated image, I do eventually start flagging them for the uploader to fix if it happens repeatedly. If you are ever unsure about what to include, the Gemstone Discord forum's wiki thread is the best place to ask for a fast response.
Lastly, if you ever need to add a "signature" to a discussion/talk tab, such as following a message, the easiest way to do this is to add ~~~~ after your message. This automatically converts the four tildes into a signature that includes your account name, a link to your account talk page, and the date/time of the message. This is especially helpful for scenarios like noting who else may have permission to edit a character page! HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 09:08, 9 July 2024 (CDT)
