She hesitated to leave the cabin, but at that moment there was nothing else she could do for the raven haired man but let him rest. Pulling the covers over his chest she kissed his forehead, his snow white skin clammy and cold, despite the fever.

The air still held memories of winter in the breeze, but the cold wasn’t going to stop the aelotoi from looking for answers. Dawn approached and off in the horizon orange and pinks mixed within the obsidian waters of Darkstone Bay. The water provided a stillness now despite the chaos and war that raged just hours before.

The hypnotic lapping of waves against the wooden docks was interrupted by a thud. Her pear green eyes shifted downward as another krolvin body knocked into the others that had been washed ashore. A sanguine film rested on the surface of the water as if to be another reminder that more blood would be shed.

She quickly scanned the bodies with a critical eye, hoping none were in fact the person she was looking for. Noticing that none came close to the giantman’s body, an audible sound of relief echoed the pier.

“Your ship is ready, Thaellian.” Georgl barked at her. A scrawny and sun-withered hand waved her onward as the dock handler sat lazily as his post. As she made her way up the ivory mistwood gangplank, her boots felt heavier than usual. The gravity of numerous situations weighing down on her at once.

But she could not show it.

The salty air and ocean spray provided a brief escape from what waited for her back in Wehnimer’s. Despite the urgency of their search, being at sea was calming. The small sloop glided through the Black Sands, but she knew what they were searching for wouldn’t be here, she was just hoping for a clue.

“Where to, Captain?” a stout dwarf inquired. Kayse surveyed her ship and crew with a piercing gaze as she stood behind the wheel next to her navigator.

“Northwest.” She commanded. “Towards the Cobalt Depths and beyond. We will scour every inch of the sea if we need to. And dive as deep as we can. We must find him."
