The Blood that Binds Character Vignette, Interruption

Oliviero was in one of the upstairs rooms of the Solhaven Inn. Although he claimed citizenship of the town, he still paid for a room at the Inn. He was his own family and owning a home sounded like loneliness. The Inn received a lot of visitors passing through from other towns which made it less lonely.

Resting on the bed, Oliviero opened his eyes to hear a commotion going on somewhere downstairs. He rubbed his eyes, got off the bed, and made his way to the washbasin and mirror. He could still hear the loudness downstairs. He wondered if there was a celebration going on that he was not informed of ahead of time.

Oliviero prepped himself and made his way to the front desk. The clerk behind the desk had a worried look on their face. "What is going on down here?" Oliviero asked. The clerk stared towards the taproom. "One of the Saxe family has not returned home. She was supposed to be home a few days ago. Her brother has requested help." Oliviero was familiar with the places and things around Solhaven, as he considered it his hometown. But he was not known for knowing the people. Only those who stopped by the Inn would he get to know. Many of those people did not live in Solhaven, however.

"Is this a private gathering?" Oliviero asked the front desk clerk. The clerk shook their head still staring in the direction of the taproom. Oliviero made his way to where all the chattering was happening. He could tell some were town officials. A few he had seen just by wandering around the town. Others he obviously did not recognize. One stood out to him, though. In the corner of the room was a shorter-than-average female. She was somewhat hidden in the shadows of the corner. He could tell she wasn't the same race as he was. With her hair up, his keen eyes could see she had gill marks behind her pointed ears. All she was doing was standing and watching. No one was paying attention to her, but she seemed to be watching everyone else. She had a wary, rebellious look to her as she scanned the room while munching on what looked like some type of wafers. Soon, her eyes locked on his as she noticed he was looking at her. Oliviero quickly turned his head away and moved inward acknowledging himself to the others.

A woman entered the room who looked to be the barmaid from the garb she was wearing and the apron around her waist and held up her hands asking for everyone's attention. Oliviero turned his attention towards her as she began to speak to the crowd gathered.
