Barter Alley

Barter Alley is a shop in Commerce Burrow, around Icemule Trace, that sells player shop furnishings. It can be accessed through the alley near the clothier. It is additionally adjoined to Trader Alley via the crossroad, Barter and Trade.

Darkness fills this quiet alley, and mud-covered ice is pushed into mounds on either side of the packing-crate pavement. Wagons move slowly through the area, delivering goods to the shops and kiosks whose colorful awnings brighten this moonlit edge of town. You also see a large scale and a decorations sign.

The granite wall is almost completely hidden in darkness. The mud ruts are deep here, and the packing crate pavement is almost lost in the mud and ice that have accumulated from the road. Wooden planks serve as bridges across the sludge. The smell of freshly baked tarts fills the air as halfling merchants loudly argue with cart drivers about various loads of merchandise. You also see an advertising sign.

An old pushcart lies abandoned at the side of the alley, where its wooden wheels gave out under its final load. Many footprints marked on the packing-crate pavement suggest that visitors to the alley frequently inspect the cart before rejecting its value at salvage. You also see a ceilings sign.

Many of the small shops are closed for the night, but others linger open through the night to capture every last silver coin that might wander in from the alley, looking for a warm place to spend the night. From the north a harsh voice rasps out something about "rats" and "racing." You also see a wall materials sign.

The packing crate pavement of Barter and Trade Alleys widen into a broad if unimpressive plaza in front of the sturdy tower in the southeast corner of Icemule Trace. A few halfling militia guards patrol the square at all hours, but most of the people in view have more important matters in mind: doing business with one of the many small merchants whose shops stand in the shadow of the tower. You also see a flooring sign.
