Nine of Cups

Nine of Cups is an eatery in Pinefar that sells food. Once a popular hangout when the trading post was first established, use has diminished in recent years. There are a number of booths in the main cafe.

The proprietor is Faust the bartender.

Here in the Cups, the knotty-pine walls are hung with a variety of game trophies and paintings. A row of booths lines the back wall, and opposite them stands a long, low bar with a shining brass foot-rail. Wooden panels suspended from the ceiling sway gently back and forth, propelled by a complex system of cords and pulleys that crisscrosses the wainscoting. The panels whisper a lazy swish that keeps the air moving gently and dissipates the distinctive aroma of cigar smoke.

Faust's domain is one of highly polished wood and shining hardware. Rows of glasses reflect light and the luster of brass fittings. Candles with beaded shades are placed intermittently down the length of the counter, which add to the mellow gleam. Over the bar hangs a monumental painting of a scantily clad, reclining halfling. You also see a small woven mat sitting on the floor with a blue pottery bowl on it, a wooden placard and Faust the bartender.
