Neartofar Forest is not known for its coniferous trees, lush terrain and varied wildlife; however it is known for the extremely dangerous and menacing stockade defended by ogre warriors.

A black cloud appears on the eastern horizon then gradually spreads across the sky. As it approaches, a rush of feathers and clack of quills builds in a deafening crescendo as an enormous flock of pigeons wings west over the forest.
A chill wind gusts across the rocky ridge, forcing the trees below to dip and bend like dignitaries in a receiving line.
A pair of banded hawks swoop low over the forest, banking in perfect synchrony as they patrol the sky over the forest.
A rustle in the underbrush signals the approach of a black bear cub. It pokes its furry face out from behind a nearby tree, glances around, moans piteously, then lumbers off beyond the pale of trees.
A small plume of white smoke rises in the far distance to the south, perhaps from some careless traveler's campfire.
