Not even that, really. The main reason we removed it from spell slot 1613 was because it was mostly useless. Even if it outright killed the target every time, it's still not that great. It doesn't justify a spell slot, but we still think it's a neat ability. So we made it innate and significantly boosted it so that it affects all creatures in the area. It will also serve to notify other hunters that a paladin has died nearby.

Yes.

You sense that 61 creatures have been injured and 24 have been slain in the reckoning!

Your mileage will, obviously, vary.

Divine Vengeance has returned as an innate ability for paladins. The ability is learned automatically once they know up to spell 1613. It will activate when killed by a creature, which results in a spiritual shockwave that affects all creatures in the area - causing a knockdown and damage. The ability has a 4 hour cooldown.

KRAKII
For clarification: the only thing that this really truly affects--from the standpoint of the Paladin--is if the Paladin were to be raised and then remain in that hunting area, so that when the creatures were killed he would get credit for having damaged them, correct?

Not even that, really. The main reason we removed it from spell slot 1613 was because it was mostly useless. Even if it outright killed the target every time, it's still not that great. It doesn't justify a spell slot, but we still think it's a neat ability. So we made it innate and significantly boosted it so that it affects all creatures in the area. It will also serve to notify other hunters that a paladin has died nearby.

so you might be in a different room from the dead person and the creature you're attacking might spontaneously die or get injured from this, when you don't want it to be injured?

Yes.
