Beneath lengths of honey-hued gossamer, smooth white sand covers the floor of a timber-framed pavilion. Some woven reed baskets dyed vivid scarlet are scattered along the perimeter between oversize pots containing local flora and fauna. In front of a parchment screen, a display table draped with tonal silks offers an assortment of ornaments and trimmings.

Creamy white parchment screens separate this space from the main pavilion. Trunks and boxes laden with wares are piled high in the corners, waiting to be sorted and set out for sale. Wedged between woven reed bins, a dye-splattered bin, filled with vivid, liquid-filled vials, creates a colorful centerpiece.

Behind a wall of parchment screens, the gossamer panels draped over the pavilion have been drawn back, affording a spectacular view of the meadow. A shoe form rests upon a sturdy worktable littered with tools, inked designs, and measuring cords. Beneath the table, neatly labeled boxes containing a variety of footwear await delivery to their new owners.
