1. Upcoming Events:

QUEST SIGNUPS STILL OPEN!
If you've been looking for a challenge, a noble cause, or simply wish to
test your mental and physical prowess, you might just be the person
Lorminstra is looking for!  It's not too late, "The Betrayal of
Lorminstra" quest is still open for sign up!  Check the web site
http://gemstone.net for more information and registration details. This
will be the final run of the Lorminstra Quest, so be sure to buy your
ticket today!

NEW PLAYER TOURS!Learn your way around Elanthia by joining daily New
Player Tours led by live GameHosts. For a list of tour times, type TOUR in-
game. To participate, login to play during the scheduled times and type
JOIN TOUR within the game.

MENTOR EVENTS
In addition to tours, Mentors are online 24 hours a day hosting Q&A
sessions and other special events for players of all levels. Keep up to
date on all the latest in Elanthia by reading in-game NEWS. Following are
a few events you shouldn't miss this month:

August 1st & 15th - Storytelling at River's Rest, hosted by The Order of
Lorekeepers on the 1st and 15th of every month at 10 PM EST. Read NEWS 53
for more details.

August 6th - First Fridays Festival of Learning, hosted by The House of
the Argent Aspis on the first Friday of every month at 10 PM EST. Read
NEWS 19 for more details.

August 9th - Museum Tours hosted by The Order of Lorekeepers and Helden
Hall every second Monday of the month at 8 PM EST. Read NEWS 28 for more
details.

2. Announcements:

BARD SONGSPELL 1030: SONIC DISRUPTION CHANGED
The Bard Spellsong 1030 has been modified so that the Bard will no longer
cause damage during the normal 'maintenance' cycle of the song.  In order
to cause damage with Sonic Disruption, it either must be initiated as a
new song, or manually renewed. Only the initial cast and subsequent RENEW
1030 will cause damage.  Normal spell maintenance costs apply whether the
spell is manually renewed or not.

JOIN THE GEMSTONE III TEAM!
If you're interested in game development and have programming skills,
impeccable writing skills, or game design experience, consider applying to
join the GemStone III Development Team!

We have published a new Assistant GameMaster application geared towards
those who are interested in game design and development.  If you believe
you have the skillset and desire to work on the best online game in the
industry, check out the "DevAGMApp" application in the Official
Simutronics Files section of our website (http://www.gemstone.net).

If development isn't your bag, check out the applications for other
exciting positions behind the scenes of GemStone III, including GameHosts

3. Premium News:

NEW BENEFIT FEATURES!
In October, 1999 a new benefit will be implemented to reward long-term
Premium subscribers.  Members who have maintained their subscription for
52 weeks will receive an item-description alteration; those who have
maintained their subscription for 104 weeks will be able to participate in
one of the quests specially scheduled for premium subscribers!

Premium members are now also able to choose between Ice Mule and the
Landing for where new personas start their lives.

JULY PREMIUM CONTEST!
The newest premium subscriber contest has been announced: Design a Toy!
For contest guidelines and prizes, see PREMIUM 6 or post your questions to
GM Ramou in Category 52, Four Winds Members area of the GemStone III
bulletin boards. Entries must be received by midnight EST July 31st, so
send in your submission today!

4. News from Simutronics:

HERCULES & XENA NEW PLAYER NIGHT!
Join the Staff of Hercules and Xena: Alliance of Heroes this Sunday,
August 1st, for New Player Night! Beginning at 8 PM EST, mentors and hosts
will be on hand to answer your questions, share tips & hints, lead tours
through the land, and much more! This is an excellent opportunity to meet
with fellow adventurers and explore the online world of Hercules and Xena.

in to play. If you have any difficulty joining the tour, type ASSIST and a
host will be happy to help you.

MODUS OPERANDI OPEN HOUSE!
The tropical island paradise of Modus Operandi, with its white sandy
beaches and mysterious dark alleyways, beckons you to try out your
sleuthing skills! Join the Morada Island Guides and fellow players for a
special New Player Night and Open House on Sunday, August 15th. Meet at
the Tourist Information Center for guided tours of the island, beginning
at 5 PM EST.

CENTER to find your way there.  Island Guides will be on hand to answer
