Brushes and combs can be used by a ranger on their own companion. Characters who the ranger has {{boldmono|BEFRIENDed}} can also use a brush or comb on the companion. The companion must be sitting or lying down; avians cannot be flying.

A feline companion with higher affinity may begin to purr. The chance is higher when groomed by its owner than by a befriended character.

The Animal Companion brush is a grooming tool used with ranger animal companions. It can be made as either a brush or comb, with different messaging for each. Avian, canine, rodent, and feline companions also each produce type-specific grooming results.

Brush

The brush uses its soft bristles to groom an animal companion. PINCH removes the material left behind by the most recently groomed companion.

Analyze

You analyze your grooming brush and sense that the creator has provided the following information:

This is an Animal Companion Brush. You could WAVE it at your or a befriended ranger's animal companion or PINCH the brush. There are no tiers to unlock. The noun must remain "brush" or "comb", and each has slightly different messaging.

Usage

Verb Companion First Third
WAVE Avian You gently run the soft bristles of your grooming brush over the seahawk's feathers, giving them a healthy sheen. XXX gently runs the soft bristles of his grooming brush over the seahawk's feathers, giving them a healthy sheen.
Canine You gently run the soft bristles of your grooming brush over the forest fox's fur, making its coat soft and lustrous. XXX gently runs the soft bristles of his grooming brush over the forest fox's fur, making its coat soft and lustrous.
Feline You gently run the soft bristles of your grooming brush over the goldencat's fur, making its coat soft and lustrous.

With sufficient affinity, this may be followed by: A goldencat begins to purr quietly.

Rodent You gently run the soft bristles of your grooming brush over the weasel's fur, giving it a healthy, fuzzy look. XXX gently runs the soft bristles of his grooming brush over the weasel's fur, giving it a healthy, fuzzy look.
