Now that the world hasn't ended at the conclusion of Cross Into Shadows, I can unwrap some of the “presents” I’ve been waiting to tell you all about. I’m pleased to announce that the Spitfire will be returning in April this year for a limited engagement! She’ll be docking in the lovely port of Wehnimer’s Landing from April 10th to 17th in all instances (Prime, Platinum, and Shattered).

This handy dandy map shows the layout of the (in)famous vessel, so you can start getting ready. http://www.play.net/images/gs4/quests/Spitfire/spitfire_art.jpg

Shops and merchant offerings are still in the works and going through QC, but it’s not too late for suggestions! The centerpiece is the Spitfire itself, home to a notorious crew of Halfling pirates. The vessel is likely to also attract numerous traveling merchants who will set up shop near the docks in town. Lists of shops, merchants, services, and raffles will be published as we get closer to the date of arrival.

The event will be free and available to everyone, though I want to take a brief moment to discuss something new we’re doing for this event. Services will be capped at 10 and tracked by account. That means you’ll only be able to get 10 total services at this event (per account), as we attempt to spread the booty around to everyone attending.

Subject: The Super Secret Map Mini-Quest

If you don't know what this is... well, it's a secret! But asking around might not hurt.

If you completed the tasks the last time the Spitfire was 'round, you may be wondering if you should bother with this. If you like rum, then yes, you should bother with it. If you don't like rum, it's debatable why you're even spending any time around the Spitfire to begin with. But that's neither here nor there.

A few of the tasks differ from the previous round of Boatswain initiations. Try to do accomplish all without cheating -- unless it is driving you to drink, in which case, get some help from your friends (with both the tasks and the drinking).

Also, feel free to ANALYZE your map.

I know some of you like these, so for the Spitfire I will be releasing a new SmartWeapon script.

Cold Flares Edition!

These particular versions will not be sanctified, unlike the Vacuum and Fire flaring editions released at previous events.

/analyze my falchion
You analyze your steel falchion and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions, but the creator has stated that "The item type should not change."

The creator has also provided the following information:

The steel falchion is not unlocked!

Available Actions: RUB, PULL, TILT, and KNOCK.

This falchion may be altered to have a different 15/15/15 and SHOW description ONLY. No LONG descriptions!

Special merchants that are skilled with this type of weapon may also alter the weapon's parts. These are currently set to blade, edge, and hilt.

This falchion makes icy blue vapor.

You might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the steel falchion for you.

Sea Legs and Wings Shop

Subject: Shop Teaser: Sea Legs and Wings

Coming soon, to a Spitfire near you, is my new shop, Sea Legs and Wings.

Wares:
Debuting in Sea Legs and Wings are new upgraded Familiar Talismans.

The plain merchant version of the upgraded Familiar Talismans, once attuned to your familiar, will allow you to summon an identical familiar with 100% reliability from anywhere in Elanthia.

Also new to the merchant version, the player can attune their talismans to customized (altered) familiars to save and summon that custom familiar with 100% reliability from anywhere in Elanthia.

As these talismans are of limited charges, the shop owner recommends that you stock up. Knowledge or ownership of the binding rune or "binding"-inscribed runestones will be required.

Off the shelf, the fancy talismans in Sea Legs and Wings are pre-attuned to customized familiars with a nautical theme.

An example of using a pre-attuned talisman:

>gaze my talisman
As your eyes traverse across the grain of a rosewood cormorant talisman, the misty image of a blue-eyed crested cormorant fills your vision before slowly fading away.

>prep 920
You trace a series of glowing runes while chanting the phrase for Call Familiar...
>cast my talisman
You gesture at a rosewood cormorant talisman.
Your magic misfires. Perhaps you should attune the cormorant talisman to you, first.

>read my runestone
You quickly recognize the rune scrawled upon the runestone as the "binding" rune.

>wave my runestone at my talisman
You gesture over a rosewood cormorant talisman with your jade runestone. Thin tendrils of softly glowing essence reach out from the runestone to encompass the cormorant talisman in a cage of soft light. The luminescence sinks below the surface of the talisman leaving a faintly glowing pattern in its wake.

>prep 920
You trace a series of glowing runes while chanting the phrase for Call Familiar...
>cast my talisman
You gesture at a rosewood cormorant talisman.
You carefully weave tendrils of essence around the cormorant talisman, reinforcing the magic within. The two energies merge slowly, reacting with each other to form a new pattern within the cormorant talisman.

>prep 920
You trace a series of glowing runes while chanting the phrase for Call Familiar...
>cast my talisman
You concentrate on the cormorant talisman as you cast your conciousness out into the ether in search of a specific type of familiar.
A blue-eyed crested cormorant flies into the area, circling above you once before landing at your side.

To save your own customized familiar:

>wave my runestone at my talisman
You gesture over a rosewood cormorant talisman with your jade runestone. Thin tendrils of softly glowing essence reach out from the runestone to encompass the cormorant talisman in a cage of soft light. The luminescence sinks below the surface of the talisman leaving a faintly glowing pattern in its wake.
>glance wolf
You glance at a grizzled arctic blue wolf.
>wave my talisman at wolf
Your talisman is already attuned! If you wave now, your talisman will be irrevocably re-attuned to a grizzled arctic blue wolf. If you sure you wish to proceed, wave the talisman at the wolf again within 30 seconds.
>wave my talisman at wolf
As you wave the cormorant talisman in front of the arctic blue wolf's eyes, its gaze slowly follows the talisman's path through the air. The talisman suddenly grows warm in your hand, its surface rippling like water as fine details slowly form on its once smooth body.
>prep 920
You trace a series of glowing runes while chanting the phrase for Call Familiar...
>cast my talisman
You carefully weave tendrils of essence around the wolf talisman, reinforcing the magic within. The two energies merge slowly, reacting with each other to form a new pattern within the wolf talisman.
>gaze my talisman
As your eyes traverse across the grain of a rosewood wolf talisman, the misty image of a grizzled arctic blue wolf fills your vision before slowly fading away.
>tell wolf to leave
The arctic blue wolf pads off.
You sense the link between you and your arctic blue wolf weaken and vanish.
>prep 920
You trace a series of glowing runes while chanting the phrase for Call Familiar...
>cast my talisman
You gesture at a rosewood wolf talisman.
You concentrate on the wolf talisman as you cast your conciousness out into the ether in search of a specific type of familiar.
A grizzled arctic blue wolf pads into the area and moves to stand at your side.

Services:

The shop's proprieter will be around to offer familiar altering sessions.

In addition to altering sessions, she will be raffling (or auctioning) off one or two QUEST level familiar talismans.
Like the merchant talismans, quest level talismans will summon a specific familiar with 100% accuracy worldwide. Quest level familiar talismans, however, are permanent and will not crumble, and the familiar summoned will also have, in addition to the normal set of mood messages standard familiars have, an additional few messages customized for that particular familiar.

My new shop, entitled "The Black Market" totally stol-- err, realized in game an idea from SHADOWTHEFT on the boards!

>look clothing
Lying in shadows, the clothing is just a heap of random clothing. Without light, it just looks like a jumble of vague shapes.

>get clothing
You rummage through the random clothing and attempt to pick out something you might like, though it is impossible to tell without any light. Stepping back, you see you grabbed a short black chainsil skirt with a dagged hem.

>pinch my skirt
You pick at the fabric of your skirt with worried fingers, glancing this way and that. For some reason you swear you've seen someone wearing this at a social event, but can't quite remember which, or who.

>rub my skirt
You run your hands nervously over your skirt, noticing your palms are unusually sweaty. What is it about this skirt that makes you feel so uneasy?

The twin heads of the red sea serpent miniature focus a fiery blaze from their maws at the ground below a red-nosed halfling pirate miniature. Dark, thick bubbles begin to form from the fire, and it quickly becomes a roiling boil! The halfling pirate miniature sinks into the molten goo that moments ago had supported it. That's quite a char!

You press a small button on the back of the giant octopus miniature.

Filled with wares from leftover treasure chests, this shop has something for everyone! Shell lovers might find an interesting shell or two in the back room.

>exhale my shell
You raise the cream conch shell to your lips and fill your lungs with air. You blow as hard as you can, but the best you can muster is a wet-sounding splutter, sending flecks of spittle flying.

>listen my shell
You hold the cream conch shell up to your ear and listen...

You don't hear much of anything except for the endless reverberation of your surroundings.

(Hmmm...)

>look in my shell
You look into the aperture of your cream conch shell and notice some movement. Whatever it is, it's too far inside the shell to get a good look.

(Hmmmmmmm...)

Looks like you might want to find Bobbler. If you find him and are able to snag one of his special shells...

>shake my shel
You turn the cream conch shell upside down and give it a firm shake. You hear something rolling around inside, so you shake the shell eagerly and with anticipation!

A few grains of crystalline sand drift down to the floor, and suddenly, a gold-flecked mottled green pearl drops from the outer lip of the shell and lands in your hand with a soft plink.

Cobblers unite?

Tired of worrying about your scruffy sunset shadow? Twobits is here to help!
A fine selection of shaving supplies, specialty scented soaps, and fine-quality razors* are available on the Spitfire!

You see Dwarfed.
He appears to be a Dwarf of the Khanshael.
He is average height and appears to be very young. He has beady golden eyes and dusky skin. He has shoulder length, wiry brunette hair with lighter streaks. He has an unshaven face, a classical nose and deep laugh lines.

look in kit
In the shaving kit you see a nubby cloth, a folding shaving razor, a compact platinum mirror, a white glass shaving bowl, a tufty shaving brush, a cup of clear fresh water and a leather strop.

Dwarfed gazes at his reflection in the platinum mirror.

Dwarfed tilts his platinum mirror, peering into it carefully as he slowly pulls a folding shaving razor against his skin, leaving a clean lather and hair-free patch of skin in its wake.

Dwarfed snaps the folding shaving razor slightly, flicking away excess foam built up on its edge.

A little effort and some careful scrutiny later...

You see Dwarfed.
He appears to be a Dwarf of the Khanshael.
He is average height and appears to be very young. He has beady golden eyes and dusky skin. He has shoulder length, wiry brunette hair with lighter streaks. He has a smooth freshly shaven face, a classical nose and deep laugh lines.

I've left out a lot of information for you, as in most of it, to discover on your own!

Trim that unruly face fuzz!

  • Some maintenance required.

~Twobits

OOC: This kit works best for those with facial hair; and no, lady dwarves are not forgotten!
Use of the supplies will not remove a beard, sideburns, or goatee; however you will find the razor works nicely with them!
The feature of a smooth freshly shaven face is temporary, just as it should be.
Those without facial hair (I'm looking at you in particular, elves!) can pretend to shave *grin* and still take on the benefit of a nice smelling soap exclusive to Twobits' shaving kits!

HUGE kudos to GM Keios for her coding in getting this ready for the Spitfire. She brings good text-things to text-life!

Variable Expresion Portrait Lockets

Subject: Lockit A Lot - Portrait Lockets

Dear Buccaneer and Marauders,

For clarity's sake, given the various versions of portrait lockets out and about in Elanthia already:

Lockit a Lot sells one specific version, but it's been expanded -- there are more "moods" available for the initial portrait (see the sign in the shop), and additionally, there is now a second tier of verbs. Some of the messaging on the second tier is specific to the "mood" of the locket. ANALYZE will tell you about your locket's mood, as well as if your locket is eligible for an unlock (which means some previously purchased lockets, if they are this specific version of locket, will have a note that mentions that some merchants can unlock its abilities to a second tier).

The lockets can be attuned, as well, between couples or pairs of people. The first tier keeps its original COVER messaging. The second tier adds in attuned-specific WHISPER messaging, which lets you inscribe, from afar, a very short note into the companion locket. So you can literally whisper sweet nothings to your love, even when he/she isn't right next to you.

Tott will do a bit of unlocking and attuning at some point during the Spitfire's stay.
