Tonsorial Tricks

Tonsorial Tricks are a set of scripted shaving devices that interact with one another and allow characters with beards set as their Distinguishing Mark to shave and style them. This results in a temporary 4-hour change to the Distinguishing Mark feature. The temporary style can also be shaved off to have a clean-shaven face for the remainder of the 4-hour duration. They only work for characters that already have facial hair. Tonsorial Tricks shaving implements were first sold in Shaver Me Timers at the 2015 Spitfire. The shop was described as offering shaving supplies, specialty scented soaps, and fine-quality razors. The shop also several different bowls, unscripted containers, small mirrors suitable for inclusion with a shaving kit, and a ten different scented soaps. Shaving implements have been sold at a variety of festivals since. These razors were most recently sold at Ebon Gate in Quinton Manse. Shaving Bowl Analyze You analyze the glass shaving bowl and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions, but the creator has stated that "The item type should not change." The creator has also provided the following information: A white glass shaving bowl appears to be a shaving bowl used for holding shaving soap. Closer inspection reveals that you can PUT or DROP soap IN the bowl. Once filled and wetted down with water, a wet brush can be DIPPED or DROPPED IN the bowl to create shaving lather. The creator has also provided the following information: A tufty shaving brush appears to be a shaving brush to be used with a filled shaving bowl. Closer inspection reveals that you can DIP the brush in water to wet it and in a wet filled soap bowl to load the bristles with lather. Shaving Cloth Analyze You analyze the nubby cloth and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions, but the creator has stated that "The item type should not change." The creator has also provided the following information: A nubby cloth appears to be a cloth used for shaving. Closer inspection reveals that you can RUB the cloth on your face to remove shaving cream. CLEANing a razor while holding the cloth would be a handy way to remove built-up crud. Shaving Razor Tier 1 Analyze You analyze the steel straight razor and sense that the creator has provided the following information: This is a Tonsorial Tricks item and as such will temporarily change your Distinguishing Mark Feature to have a groomed goatee. The change will last for four hours, but if you don't like the style then you can shave it off and the rest of the time your face will be clean shaven. It is currently One (OTS) out of Four Tiers, and has access to one style. Additionally, it has access to the following verbs: Close, Nudge, Open, Pull**, Rub* Lastly, your steel straight razor is currently set to create the following style: pencil-thin, melanite black goatee *Indicates grooming action. **Indicates clean shaven action. You may alter this freely provided it still looks and functions like a normal straight razor. You get no sense of whether or not the razor may be further lightened. Tier 4 Tier 4 expands the razor to eight styles, including a customizable style, and adds SPIN. SPIN cycles the razor between goatee, beard, and mustache styling. Closer inspection reveals that you can PUT the strop ON something like a barrel to tether it. RUBbing a razor ON the strop would probably give the razor a nice sharp edge. Additional Information Only characters with beards can use Tonsorial Tricks razors. The beard must be in the Distinguishing Mark field in order for it to work with these razors. Characters who do not have a beard but want one can get one in several ways.
