Irinara Illistim was the post-Lanenreat Argent Mirror during the Second Nalfein-Turamzzyrian War, the result of a botched attempt to manipulate war between House Faendryl and the humans. She was a pragmatist regarding power politics, taking a position of neutrality whenever House Nalfein was not in serious danger. With this informal non-aggression detente in place, she signed a formal military alliance with House Vaalor for mutual defense and strengthened her own military. Though this was a secret treaty at the time, it has since been made public, and remains in force to this day.
Unfortunately, her policy was not quite as clandestine as she had hoped, being caught red handed supporting Nalfein. The "Leaf On the Wind" airship was wrecked by the humans, who suspected it was transporting enemy troops, and subsequently discovered refugees hiding in compartments. The crew was executed. It was said a gauntlet of Yathrauniel was lost in the process.
Irinara assumed the Peacock Throne in 4,657 Modern Era (53,764 Illistim) to 4,878 Modern Era (53,985 Illistim). Her rule was 221 years.

The compass is plated in silver. It stands atop three stubby feet, with a clear glass dome placed over the top of its carved face. The cardinal directions are marked out with elongated crystal points, one of which is blackened, burnt and cracked. Next to the device is a small plaque.

In the Common language, it reads:
This compass was recovered from the wreckage of the Leaf On the Wind, a large passenger-class airship lost during the Second Nalfein-Turamzzyrian War. The ship was brought down by Turamzzyrian forces who suspected it of transporting enemy troops. The captain of the Leaf offered Turamzzyrian soldiers entry to search the ship, but failed to disclose all of his cargo, which included several compartments of refugees. The refugees were discovered, the crew was executed and the captain taken prisoner.
