Character pages allow players to have a space on the GSWiki to put information on their characters, with minor formatting guidance. Anything related to their character, including appearance, short biographies/backstories, portraits, creative works, logs, etc. would be able to go here, or be set up as a subpage to the character page.

When creating a page, in order to ensure disambiguation between characters that share the same name between instances, only the character's first name, followed by the instance in parentheses, should be utiltized for the page name. The reason for this is surnames can change, however, the first name will always remain the same.

While not necessary, the table to the right is an example of a template that can be used to provide wiki readers a quick, at-a-glance look at the character. Not all information is needed or necessary, as only things filled out will appear in the table. The only parameter that is required in this template is the instance, as it will automatically categorize characters into the selected instance, thus eliminating the need to add an additional category at the bottom. There is also now a town parameter which is optional, and primarily for prime player characters. This will allow them to select up to two towns they primarily play in, and will also add them to categories based on what is entered. Any more than two towns would need to have the category added to the page, otherwise, the template handles the two already.

Template Instructions

The character profile template puts a table on the right side of a profile page that will look like this if all parameters are completed. The template code should be put on the page first, followed by any normal text. A good example of the use of this template can be seen here.

It is not necessary to complete all parameters. Parameters will not show if you do not complete them.

Character portraits can be uploaded at the Upload file link under Tools at the bottom of the left sidebar.

Text between <!-- and --> will not appear on your profile page (it is commonly used to leave editor notes). It is okay to remove the <!-- and --> and the text in between.

Additional Format Parameters

Please use the Discussion page if you need to change more format parameters and do not know how to edit the template to do that. These parameters are entirely optional and can be used if you do not like the color scheme displayed here.
