“Citizens of Wehnimer’s Landing,”

“I write to you of good news, for both your town, your brothers in Hendor, and for the Turamzzyrian Empire. For years, your people have suffered countless losses and faced tragic event after event at the hands of the monster known as Drangell. I need not recount the stain his actions have left in your region, and the pain his murderous ways have left in the hearts and minds of your families and homes. But today, is not to reflect on the death he wrought. “

“No, instead, today is a time to celebrate. The menace known as Drangell has been captured and successfully contained, where he remains in the custody and watchful eye of my most trusted soldiers. But the victory of Hendor and Wehnimer’s Landing does not stop there. Thanks to careful planning and information from Hendor, a number of our allies and your heroes were able to locate the wanted criminal Alendrial, who is said to be the acting figurehead of the other faction of Rooks, who had been warring with Drangell and his followers. With little conflict, Alendrial DeArchon was apprehended and remains in my custody.”

“Tonight, late into the evening, I will hold a meeting outside of Moot Hall where I will inform the citizens and officials of Wehnimer’s Landing of my plans regarding the criminals Drangell and Alendrial, now that they are in captivity.”

“There is no better example than this triumph to showcase the benefit of our people working side by side in this region. Hendor has come not as occupiers, but as liberators and protectors. For too long Wehnimer’s Landing and its environs have been crushed under the heavy boot of darkness and chaos, and today marks a turning point in our combined efforts to raise the town and its people from such depravity and disaster. The Northern Sentinel, Earl Jovery, tasked me with both the honor and burden of forging order into your troubled region, and this defeat of Drangell and Alendrial is a powerful step forward, but the journey is not yet over. There is still much work to be done.”

“But today, do not fret over the difficulties still lurking on the horizon. Focus on the accomplishments our people have made together. I would thank the town officials, both the mayor and marshal of Wehnimer’s Landing, for their roles in this elaborate plan and seeing the value of the reward versus the risk. Truly, their cooperation was quite brave. The burden of leadership is the heaviest of weights, and you both hold my eternal admiration.”

“I would thank the handful of adventurers who came to me with the spark of this plan, and I am thankful that my Hendoran brothers and I were able to provide many of the critical resources and strategy to ensure the mission’s success. Your names are known to me, and should you wish, you may make them known to the town you helped to protect. Despite the distaste of having to temporarily align our interests with those of some members of the Brotherhood of Rooks, the plan was near flawless.”

“I would also thank the Silver Gryphons and the Landing Defense Irregulars for your unwavering support of Hendor and our operation. Your loyalty and valor are unmatched, and you have proven to be some of Hendor’s greatest allies. I shall see to it your efforts and courage are known to the Northern Sentinel.”

“To the Order of the Azure Sun, I offer my thanks in recognizing your duty to protect the innocent people of Wehnimer’s Landing during the battle and for your aid in the capture of Alendrial. However, I am vastly disappointed in your rejection of my plan and your failure to cooperate in the trap laid out for Drangell. You may raise the banner of honor as your defense, and balk at my questionable tactic of temporarily working with the enemy of my enemy, but you would do well to note the overwhelming victory we have accomplished. Let this stand as a stark reminder of the difference between a Swan, and a Phoenix.”

“To those who stood firm at the gates of Wehnimer’s Landing, pouring sweat and blood to repel the wave of attackers, your aid in this battle was essential and both Hendor, and Wehnimer’s Landing owe you a great debt of gratitude. Your ferocity in battle and your stalwart defense are the tales of true heroes.”

“But know this, and let my words and warning carry to every alleyway and rooftop of Wehnimer’s Landing. With both Drangell and Alendrial in captivity, the Brotherhood of Rooks faces extinction. There will be others, do not be surprised, who shall try to rise to power from the chaos and ashes, but know that none have mastered this more than the Phoenix of Hendor. Our blood and our people hold the mettle to endure and survive. The spineless Rooks have no such aptitude. The net has been cast, and your influence shrinks each day. I strongly advise you act upon the Mayor’s offer of service and a pardon, or your destiny is sealed with annihilation. To those who ally themselves with these shadowy cowards, you will share their fate.”
