The ball and chain is an articulated concussion weapon which consists of a heavy metal ball at the end of a chain attached to the end of a haft. The flexibility granted by the chain multiplies the force of a blow, making it more difficult for an opponent to parry and will cause, in addition to hitpoint damage, crush critical injuries. To be effective with the ball and chain it is strongly recommended that the user train in the blunt weapon skill.
Due to its longer Roundtime and lower than average AvDs the ball and chain is considered somewhat inferior to most other blunt weapons.
