:Yes. The spelling is Hoard for those creatures, even though Horde would make more sense in context. In the 1999 copy of "Creatures & Monsters" the Hoard are page 110. In "Creatures & Treasures II" from 1989 it is page 33-34. I intend on significantly re-writing this page to condense it and make the literature parallels or allusions cleaner, since it is more clear to me now that the landscape corresponds specifically to the Underworld parts of the Dreamlands (where I assume the idea is playing off "Charon" being the name of the boatman across the river Acheron in Hades/Inferno.) If the mana draining puzzle is not broken at the moment I assume it involves spells my character does not have or else syntax I've never guessed. :I know that it involves multiple spell lists, and my recollection was that it could not possibly be done by a single character. (Then again, the rules on what is permitted on scrolls have been greatly relaxed, so it may, now, be possible for just one to do it.) I did write to Banthis & Lyredaen--since they're back--pointing them to the page for anything that they a) remembered and b) felt permitted to write about, but it doesn't look like they've visited. I ''kind of'' think that it was Banthis who had posted saying that the puzzle hadn't been solved in a while, and then coming back later and saying that it had been broken and just re-fixed, but if so that would mean that it was ~16 years ago; sadly, I was unable to find anything in my archives about that discussion.
