The main differences between old-style and new-style claidhmores are that old-style has a -10 AS (thus a laen claidhmore would be 3x - 2x = 1x or +5 AS) and a +10 AvD (versus new-style.) These factors essentially even out. Additionally new-style claidhmores lend a higher DS to many stances, but has a lower damage factor against plate armors.
