[Ancient Keep, Office - 24459]
Long, twisting veins of mithril and rhimar entwine around each other across the circular room's ceiling. Several rectangular cubbyholes line the walls, each containing an intricately carved ice sculpture within. Presiding over the center of the office is a large mahogany chair cushioned with rich leather, with an elegant mahogany desk behind it. Framed with etched rhimar, an oak-bound door leads back out.

She is short. She appears to be youthful. She has thick-lashed violet eyes and alabaster skin. She has waist length, ringleted blue-black hair wrapped in an intricately looping pattern around a pair of crossed rib bones tied with sinew. She has a delicate face, a small nose and slightly pointed ears.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing a shadowy black wraithaline medallion carved with runes, a jute-strung pallid avian skull with a wire-bound beak, a ruby-strung chain sporting a Liabo white moon pendant, a flowing stygian robe trimmed with various bones, a mithril Twilight Hall pin, a sable-framed stygian velvet houppelande spilling into a train of weblike onyx satin over a ruby flyrsilk petticoat hemmed with embroidered acantha leaves with a soft white lawn chemise underneath, a bloom-laden faenor vine wristlet set with crimson-swept orange crystal thorns, a sun-etched gold ring, an avian skull-clasped bag draped in layers of raw black silk, a thin black leather wand belt with a trio of scrimshaw buckles, an elagant ruby flyrsilk pouch adorned in sovyn clove trinkets, some pale silk stockings wrapped in black velvet vines under some deep black narrow-toed boots, and a smooth supple leather bodysuit with two silver eight-pointed stars on the collar.
Lady Elliathe just came through a heavy oak-bound door.
Elliathe gathers the wide skirts of her stygian velvet houppelande in her hands and drops into a low curtsy while maintaining impeccable posture and grace.
You grin at Elliathe.
With straightened posture and a firm chin, you present yourself to Elliathe with a short, courteous bow.
You greet, "Always a pleasure to see you."
You settle yourself on the mahogany chair for a moment's rest.
Elliathe nods in agreement to you.
Speaking warmly to you, Elliathe says, "Likewise, M'Lord."
You smile.
Speaking casually to Elliathe, you say, "I hoped to ask you a few questions tonight."
Elliathe adopts an agreeable expression.
Elliathe nods to you.
You say, "The same questions I will ask the others. I have five in total...though none of them are very tricky."
Elliathe informs, "I already had the occasion to speak with Councilor Opalina."
You smile.
Elliathe nods in agreement to you.
Elliathe smiles.
You say, "Councillor Opalina has been quite active as of late. She inspires me with her energy."
You chuckle.
Elliathe nods to you.
Elliathe cocks her head at you.
You say, "But let me not waste too much of your time. If you are ready, we can begin.."
You say, "And of course, take as long as you need to answer."
Elliathe says, "Of course M'lord."
You recite:
"What makes you want to take on this dangerous task?"
Elliathe ponders.
(Elliathe seems to take a moment to think through her answer, a thoughtful expression etched across her features. "I believe my reasons are two-fold, M'Lord.")
You nod slowly at Elliathe.
Speaking to you, Elliathe asserts, "On the first hand is my very nature. While I know there are many Empaths that are not of the service bent, which is admirable, that streak of wanting to put myself into the helpful service of others runs strong in me."
You smile at Elliathe.
(Elliathe holds up two fingers now, "Secondly is the safe and free haven this town as offered me.")
Elliathe nods once.
You nod.
You say, "Very good."
Elliathe says, "Coming as I do, from Hendor, and having lived most of my life under the yoke of the Edict, freedom and self-determination are important to me. As they are to this town."
Elliathe smiles at you.
You adopt an agreeable expression.
You say, "Indeed they are."
Elliathe nods in agreement to you.
You say, "So then, to my second question..."
You recite:
"Why do you feel you should be chosen above the other candidates?"
Elliathe slowly empties her lungs.
Elliathe cocks her head at you.
You gaze with interest at Elliathe.
Speaking calmly to you, Elliathe says, ""I understand the way in which the blood flows hot in this town. We are a passionate people, but unfortunately for some, they are unable to temper this hot-headedness. Again I point to my history. Living beneath the Edict in the family of a prominent merchant, it was imperative that no matter how hot my feelings ran, I needed to keep my cool. I feel that is needed in this situation."
Elliathe says, "We wish to avert war if at all possible."
You grin slowly.
You say, "That is what I’ve heard."
You nod.
Elliathe shakes her head.
Elliathe frowns.
Elliathe says, "We're potentially sandwiched between two Empires, which is not a good state of play,"
You adopt an agreeable expression.
Elliathe furrows her brow.
You say, "Yeah, the pressure from both is creating quite a bit of friction..."
You say, "Which leads perfectly into my third question for you..."
Elliathe says, "Especially since some of the denizens of the Glatoph have joined Gnul's forces."
You apologetically say, "Unless you hadn't finished with your previous answer."
You smile.
You nod slowly at Elliathe.
Elliathe says, "Oh, no I am done, forgive me for prattling on."
Elliathe blushes a soft apricot shade at you.
You say, "Yes, I heard that same thing last night. I do need to gather information regarding what is happening in the south, but that will need to wait for another evening..."
You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs.
You grin at Elliathe.
Elliathe nods in agreement to you.
You say, "You speak with eloquence, you do not prattle."
Elliathe says, "Well when the time comes, I have kept myself abreast."
You say, "My third question then..."
You nod at Elliathe.
You recite:
"What do you see as a reasonable outcome to this conflict?"
Elliathe slowly empties her lungs.
Elliathe says, "That is a very difficult question to answer."
You nod slowly.
Elliathe narrows her eyes.
Speaking to you, Elliathe asserts, ""Truthfully, what *my* ultimate outcome is matters little. I am no Councilor of this town. I would firstly follow the will of the Council and Mayor in what we wish to achieve. Personally though?"
You nod at Elliathe.
Elliathe paces back and forth.
Elliathe says, "Personally I hope that we can achieve the 'best case scenario' of having our sovereignty entirely preserved. However, there is such a thing as incremental results. First increment would be allowing trade once again with Briar Moon. Secondly?."
(Elliathe begins to count off various achievable points.)
Elliathe says, "Would be no airships passing directly over our town. The third point would be assurances that no foreign troops will be within the borders of our town. And we would work down the list from there."
You smile at Elliathe.
You nod.
You say, "Very good."
Elliathe informs, "After all, Diplomacy is the Art of the Possible. It is better to come back with *something* than nothing at all."
You say, "This is always the truth."
You nod at Elliathe.
You say, "My next question can be answered with a simple yes or no, but you are welcome to expound upon it."
Speaking to you, Elliathe says, "But again this is just my take and my personal feelings. Ultimately it is up to the adminstration and care of our Mayor and Council to outline what those incremental points are."
You bite your lip.
You nod.
Speaking to Elliathe, you say, "Perhaps I should allow you to tell me when you have finished answering the question."
You chuckle to yourself.
Elliathe says, "Oh no, I am finished."
Elliathe nods to you.
Elliathe says, "Forgive me."
Elliathe blushes a soft apricot shade at you.
You flash a wide grin.
You say, "There is no need."
You recite:
"Do you believe that Ta'Vaalor's actions against Icemule have been justified?"
Elliathe slowly empties her lungs.
Speaking honestly to you, Elliathe says, "I have left my opinion on such matters to be shaped by the opinions of people I respect? As I was not here to witness these events, and having only heard bits and pieces, I cannot fully form an opinion. *However* from my understanding this all occurred because of perceived rudeness. If that is truly the case, then this was quite an overreactive judgement rendered upon our town for a mere slight. I hope that makes any sort of sense."
You nod in agreement.
You say, "It makes perfect sense."
Elliathe wonders, "I will definitely need to do more research into the exact occurance if I am chosen."
Elliathe nods to you.
You say, "And now...you have survived the roughest of my questions."
You flash a wide grin.
You ask, "Shall we tackle the last?"
Elliathe nods in agreement to you.
You recite:
"If this trip to Ta'Vaalor ends in disaster, and you are not heard from again, what final words might you offer Icemule?"
Elliathe ponders.
Elliathe raises an eyebrow in your direction.
You cock your head at Elliathe.
You smile.
Speaking amusedly to you, Elliathe informs, "This is oddly the most difficult question!"
You say, "There is that possibility."
You nod slowly.
You laugh softly, trying to hide your amusement.
Speaking to Elliathe, you say, "Simply speak from your heart."
(Elliathe seems to consider this for a long moment before finally answering, "My my spirit see us to Freedom. May my Lady," here, Elliathe reaches up to run her fingers across one of the silver eight-pointed stars embossed into the collar of her bodysuit, "Grant that I am avenged.")

Elliathe says, "Likely it will be more of a gurgle, but yes. As an Empath... one accepts the possibility of death every day. We're familiar with it."

You chuckle.
Elliathe nods in agreement to you.
Elliathe says, "Indeed he likely will be."
You say, "Let us hope it doesn't come to that end."

Speaking to you, Elliathe agrees, "Indeed."
Speaking to Elliathe, you say, "I will take what you told me tonight, and share it amongst the Council as well. We have quite a decision to make soon.."
Speaking to Elliathe, you say, "And I find your answers tonight to be quite strong."

Speaking gratefully to you, Elliathe says, "Thank ye M'Lord. It gives me great pleasure to hear that."

She has shoulder length, glossy pale green hair adorned with a cascade of silver leaf skeletons along an intricate circle braid. She has a cherubic face, a pert, daintily upturned nose and a dimpled chin. A soft grey penguin feather quill tipped with a gold-leafed silver nib is tucked behind her ear.
She is in good shape.
She is holding a copper wire-wrapped mesille scepter in her right hand.
She is wearing a peaked purple wizard's hat, a rose-inlaid ruby heart medallion, a deep blue hooded cloak clasped with a silver crescent moon, a mithril Twilight Hall pin, a silver spiral brooch set with a star ruby and engraved with the letters WW, a diamond inset wolf-shaped pin, some exquisite satin gloves, an elegant sanguine harness slung over her shoulder, a rich purple woolen backpack, some tooled spiked full leather, a pale violet tunic embroidered with celadon dragonflies, a driftwood and leather band, a sapphire-inset rose gold ring encircled by white gold, a polished gold ring, a suede-tied dark vanilla silk pouch, a baby blue kilt, and some royal blue tanned walrus leather thigh-boots lined with rabbit fur.

With a graceful movement of her hands, Teaberry lowers her head and sinks into a formal curtsy before you.
You greet, "Good evening."
You stand back up.

Speaking to Teaberry, you say, "I won't keep you long, I know there are many festivities tonight."

Speaking to Teaberry, you say, "As you were one wishing to explore the option of joining the delegation, I have for you five questions...the same I will be asking to each."
You say, "Take as little time, or as much, as you wish with each."
Teaberry asks, "All right. What would you like to know?"
You smile.
You say, "I'll begin with the first...."
You recite:
"What makes you want to take on this dangerous task?"
Teaberry says, "I want to go because--well, there's a lot of dissent Not everyone seems to agree on what should be done. I want to go because I know I'll try to be fair. And I'll try to listen to everyone and see what can be done."
You nod.
You say, "A noble intention indeed."
Teaberry says, "And I don't think that you were wrong to voice your opinion in private. I'm sorry it became public."
You smile.
You say, "Most kind of you to say that. It is quite unfortunate it has leaked, as it has."
Teaberry nods.
Speaking to Teaberry, you ask, "Do you have more to add, or are you ready for the next?"
Teaberry says, "I'm ready for the next, sir."
You say, "I ask, because I had a habit of cutting off another earlier."
You chuckle to yourself.
You nod at Teaberry.
You recite:
"Why do you feel you should be chosen above the other candidates?"
Teaberry says, "I don't. I feel that the Council should choose the best for the job, whether that's me or not. And I wish the delegates well, whoever is chosen. But as to what I can bring to this--a focus on fairness, an eye for detail, a knack for getting people to talk to me, a willingness to listen, and no animosity toward anyone. I want everyone to get along, if possible."
You smile at Teaberry.
You say, "A very diplomatic answer...impressive."
You nod once.
You say, "We shall move to the next question...and with its answer, be over halfway done."
You recite:
"What do you see as a reasonable outcome to this conflict?"
Teaberry says, "Thank you for your patience. I know that I am taking a fair amount of time to think over my answers."
You say, "No no, take as long as you wish. I am in no hurry."
You smile.
Teaberry says, "A reasonable outcome--well, I'd like to talk things over with Briarmoon Cove and see if we could establish a treaty with them that wouldn't interfere with the one between Ta'Vaalor and Briarmoon. They're closer to us geographically, so it might be a good idea to be closer to them economically. I'd also like to renegotiate some portions of the existing treaty between us and Ta'Vaalor. Treaties are amended all the time, after all. Mostly, I would like to get rid of the bad feeling between our town and Ta'Vaalor. Anger and fear aren't good for either side."
You nod in agreement.
You say, "Indeed...they are both quite destructive emotions."
Teaberry says, "Which...mostly will involve listening, I think. Listening to what's being said and what isn't."
Teaberry says, "People don't always talk about what's really wrong. Especially if their pride has been wounded, and that's happened on both sides."
Teaberry sighs.
You nod slowly.
You say, "And that sort of wound is perhaps the hardest to heal."
Teaberry nods to you.
Teaberry says, "It is, unfortunately."
You say, "My next question, it is a simple question. A yes, or no, will do. But of course, you may expound on that, should you wish."
Teaberry nods.
You recite:
"Do you believe that Ta'Vaalor's actions against Icemule have been justified?"
Teaberry says, "No. You're not the entire Icemulian government, and your opinion was intended to be private. I see Vaalor as lashing out in injured pride, and having taken that position, not really knowing how to back away from it. Not to mention that Vaalorians have a tradition of not retreating even when it's practical to do so. And...well, countries don't like admitting to having screwed up. They think it makes them appear weak. I think it makes them appear like people."
You grin at Teaberry.
You say, "Indeed. And I think you sum up the Vaalorians quite well."
You chuckle to yourself.
You say, "And with that, we are brought to the final question I wish to present...an easy one, perhaps."
Teaberry nods.
Teaberry smiles.
Teaberry says, "Ask away."
You recite:
"If this trip to Ta'Vaalor ends in disaster, and you are not heard from again, what final words might you offer Icemule?"
You gaze with interest at Teaberry.
Teaberry says, "That would not be my expectation, but if it happened--'I would say to change the battlefield. Not to fight them on the turf of warfare--our population is too small for that--but to switch the battleground to somewhere where we can win. Trade. Transportation. Lore. And use those wins to make Icemule stronger. Above all, try to get along. It will drive the Claw of Andelas crazy."
Teaberry grins wickedly.
You grin slowly at Teaberry.
Speaking to Teaberry, you say, "I must admit, I wasn't expecting that response. Very impressive."
You nod at Teaberry.
Teaberry says, "Thank you."
You smile at Teaberry.
Teaberry says, "And thank you for taking the time to interview me on such a hectic day. I appreciate it."
Speaking to Teaberry, you say, "I will keep you no longer. Thank you for humoring me this night. You have provided great insight that I'm sure the Council will appreciate."

You see Missoni Sabretache Faendryl the Cultivator of the Shrieking Root.
She appears to be a Dark Elf.
She is shorter than average and has a fragile, slender frame. She appears to have come of age. She has long-lashed chimerical viridian eyes and richly toned, olive brown skin. She has waist-length, glossy black hair with a subtle cobalt sheen that is sharply contrasted by a snow-white blaze curling down the right side of her face. She has a pinched face, a sharp and severe nose and a prominent collarbone marked by a tiny mole. Her pointed chin and delicate bone structure contribute to the waifish appearance of her visage. She has an oval blood red eye tattoo on her neck, some inked whorls of mist on her arm, an eight-tined star tattooed in lapis ink on the top of her right hand, and a winged lark-shaped mark on her leg.
She is in good shape.
A slowly rotating ring of sigils encircles each of her hands, scribed on the air in glittery prismatic energy.
She is holding a spiralled lor staff wound around a polychromatic vaelfyren core in her right hand.
She is wearing a gold-sheened ebon brocatelle tricorn adorned with a cloudy sea glass bauble, a cropped black suede jacket, a scoop-neck malachite silk blouse bound with a gilt plumille underbust corset, a lor signet ring, some dark suede slim-legged pants, and some corbeau sheepskin suede knee-boots buttoned with glazed alder squares.
Schools of golden-brown fishcakes swim across her body, maneuvering then dissipating in waves of mist.
You settle yourself on the mahogany chair for a moment's rest.
Missoni flounces through a heavy oak-bound door amidst a diffuse cloud of prismatic glitter.
You smile at Missoni.
Missoni smiles.
An inlaid leather grimoire drifts in looking for its owner.
A yellow-eyed silvery lor mandrake with glossy holly leaves sticking out of her head toddles into the area and up to Missoni.
You stand back up.

Missoni cheerfully greets, "Fair eve."

Speaking to Missoni, you say, "I understand you have an interest in joining the delegation..."
Missoni nods to you.
You say, "And because of that, I wish to ask you just a few questions."
Missoni confirms, "I do."
Missoni adopts an agreeable expression.
Missoni folds her hands.
You say, "Five simple questions...the same I have asked of each."
You smile.
Missoni says, "Of course."
Speaking to Missoni, you say, "I will begin...and feel free to take as much time as you need to answer."
Missoni nods appreciatively to you.
You recite:
"What makes you want to take on this dangerous task?"
Missoni looks thoughtfully at you.
Craning her head back, causing the leaves and vegetation at the top to bobble, the mandrake opens her mouth wide and emits an ear-piercing scream.
Missoni says, "I do not see it as a particularly dangerous task, in truth. I have traveled to Ta'Vaalor recently, and fairly often, and do not feel particularly threatened in my travels there. I also feel adept at defending myself should the need arise. Rather, I am eager at the opportunity for diplomacy. I think there is a unique opportunity here to do something to benefit a city I care very much about."
You nod at Missoni.
The dog hovers protectively by Missoni's side, baring its teeth at nothing in particular.
You say, "This is very true...there is most certainly an opportunity here. Many, perhaps."
You ponder the meaning of Missoni's existence.
Missoni agrees with you.
You recite:
"Why do you feel you should be chosen above the other candidates?"
Speaking to you, Missoni explains, "I feel I am uniquely positioned as someone who has a history with Icemule but also has connections across the 'Spine and throughout Elanthia to mediate such a situation. I have a strong command of customs and traditions and have comported myself honorably in such situations before. That said, I will not be chosen above all other candidates, and see this as a partnership. I believe it is important that the delegation works together, and I would be soliciting ideas from interested parties before our travels that they may wish to bring up."
You smile at Missoni.
You say, "Very good."
You nod once.
Missoni smiles.
You say, "In answering this next question, you will be over halfway done.."
You flash a quick grin.
You recite:
"What do you see as a reasonable outcome to this conflict?"
Missoni flashes a quick grin.
Missoni amusedly says, "Well, I cannot speak for Ta'Vaalor, I suppose, but in considering the implications for Icemule I see now that the agreement to allow Vaalorian airships to fly over the city is rather one-sided. I think amending the agreement to include something that benefits Icemule would be ideal for me. That might, perhaps, look like an ageement from Ta'Vaalor to leave trade open to Briarmoon Cove so that Icemule may partake, or perhaps even provide the use of some airships instead of seeing them merely... fly over. That, of course, would only be if the citizens are comfortable with such an agreement. Mostly, I think Ta'Vaalor ought to provide something in return."
You smile.
You say, "I most certainly agree with that."
You nod once.
Missoni smiles.
The dog twists its neck to raise one of its ears up to one side and begins sniffing furiously while staring vacantly ahead.
You say, "My next question, it can be answered with a short "yes" or "no", but of course you may expound upon your answer."
Missoni adopts an agreeable expression.
You recite:
"Do you believe that Ta'Vaalor's actions against Icemule have been justified?"
Missoni ponders.
Missoni thoughtfully says, "Yes and no. From their position, I can certainly see why they would have such a reaction. After all, they received a letter believing it to be intended for them. Given that that part was a misunderstanding, no, I do not think they should continue to interfere with Icemule's trade, and I do not think that is justified. I am hoping the delegation can clarify that the letter was sent by an nefarious party, and not in good faith."
You smile at Missoni.
Speaking to Missoni, you say, "A very diplomatic answer."
You nod approvingly.
Missoni adds, "Part of that agreement also rests on Briarmoon Cove. I do not think Ta'Vaalor can be solely held responsible."
You frown.
You say, "Yes, this I also agree with."
Missoni furrows her brow.
You say, "You have survived...and come to my final question."
You flash a quick grin.
Missoni laughingly says, "I will not assume survival until I have answered it."
You laugh softly, trying to hide your amusement.
You recite:
"If this trip to Ta'Vaalor ends in disaster, and you are not heard from again, what final words might you offer Icemule?"
You gaze with interest at Missoni.
Missoni blinks at you.
You smile at Missoni.
Missoni ponders.
The dog cocks its head to one side and raises its muzzle up into the air, sniffing anxiously. After a moment, the fur of its ruff bristles, and it begins to growl at the shadows.
Missoni amusedly says, "I... highly doubt that will be the outcome, but, I suppose you could simply tell them to avenge me."
You laugh softly, trying to hide your amusement.
Missoni traces the lines of her star tattoo.
You nod at Missoni.
You say, "Quite fair, I would indeed."
You grin at Missoni.

I also have experience living in Ta'Vaalor, with a few of the officers of the Crimson Legion over the years, including the current commander, and with Gasen, who is familiar with the royalty and directly in Ta'Vaalor because of the King."

He is in good shape. There is a small moss green sprite flying above his shoulder. He is wearing a dark emerald wool cloak draped in thick animal pelts, an armcuff with a raven's wing obsidian encased in faenor willow branches, a buckskin jacket with warg fur cuffs over some dented lamellar armor draped in badger pelts, a bear claw fetish, a matte black golvern quiver containing a bundle of feras arrows, and a krodera botanist kit.

Dendum inhales deeply upon his pipe, puckering his lips and sending out three rings of smoke before him briefly, then puffs out a small vine of smoke that darts right through all three which causes them to disperse in a hazy shroud!
The moss green sprite flying above Dendum's shoulder seems to be talking to itself.
Dendum says, "Must travel south to meeting."

You laugh softly, trying to hide your amusement.

Speaking demurely to you, Aliashyrah says, "Certainly, Councillor. I am, as ever, at your disposal."

The one from years past that first sparked the circumstances now, or perhaps do you speak of the one that most seem preoccupied with, the apparent attempts of Ta'Vaalor to negatively impact Icemule's ability to freely trade and provide for her citizens?"
Speaking to you, Aliashyrah admits, "Though my answer is likely similar to both."

A reasonable outcome for Icemule to many would be for her to be left alone and allowed to trade once more. That is a very pale definition of reasonable, though it would be a better situation than the current one."

You say, "That is most certainly true."
Speaking bluntly to you, Aliashyrah says, "In my estimation, a reasonable outcome would be for Ta'Vaalor to meet with Icemule on even footing, regarding her as sovereign and offering the same respect they might to one of the other Elven houses.”

Speaking to you, Aliashyrah says, "If they were to do so, they would be forced to see that the previous treaty was little more than a farce and meant to display their perceived superiority."

Meliyara produces a folded cherrywood chair from the depths of her lotus silk pelisse.
Meliyara unfolds her chair and carefully places the chair on the floor.
You say, "I have but five questions I wish to ask today..."
Meliyara settles into a slant-backed cherrywood chair with her legs crossed and her arms draped across the back of the chair.
Meliyara nods to you.
You say, "These are the same I have asked of each party wishing to join the delegation."
You say, "Feel free to take as little time, or as much, as you desire with each. I am in no hurry."
Meliyara nods in agreement.
You ask, "Shall we begin?"
Speaking to you, Meliyara says, "At your leisure."
You smile.
You recite:
"What makes you want to take on this dangerous task?"
Meliyara grins slowly at you.
Speaking smoothly to you, Meliyara replies, "Can one assume it is inherently any more dangerous? Perhaps the greater danger would be to remain a visitor or resident of Icemule whilst allowing an unqualified individual to attempt diplomacy with the Vaalor."
You flash a quick grin at Meliyara.
You say, "An interesting response...it is almost as though you predicted my next question."
You chuckle to yourself.
Speaking to you, Meliyara adds, "As I noted in my letter to Councillor Opalina, though I do not reside here, I hold an affinity for Icemule Trace and its denizens. I wish to ensure that this place is kept safe and thriving."
You nod at Meliyara.
You say, "Very good."
You say, "As you presented a natural segue into my next question, perhaps we should move to that..."
Meliyara adopts an agreeable expression.
You recite:
"Why do you feel you should be chosen above the other candidates?"
You smile at Meliyara.
Speaking to you, Meliyara acknowledges, "I am not fully acquainted with each of the other candidates or their qualifications. There are among them those that are certainly seemingly well qualified."
Meliyara coyly taps the sharpened blackened eahnor tip of her silver talon ring against the corner of her bottom lip, gazing out at something unseen.
You say, "Indeed. Many are...I am finding each had a place within the spectrum of potential."
You smile quietly to yourself.
Speaking thoughtfully to you, Meliyara continues, "And so rather than tarnish any of their good names, I will simply state that I am uniquely situated to assist Icemule in this trying time. I am a resident of neither Icemule nor the Elven Nations. My people left the Elven Houses long ago, but yet we remain familiar with our wayward cousins and their customs."
You nod in agreement.
You say, "Indeed. None know the elven ways like, well...an elf."
You chuckle to yourself.
Meliyara grins at you wryly.
You say, "We shall move to my third question. And now, we are nearly halfway done..."
You recite:
"What do you see as a reasonable outcome to this conflict?"
Meliyara glances appraisingly at you.
You cock your head at Meliyara.
Speaking diplomatically to you, Meliyara says, "Why, the most reasonable outcome is to ensure that the wishes of the council and Mayor -- as Icemule's duly elected government -- are carried out as completely as possible."
You grin slowly at Meliyara.
Meliyara grins impishly at you.
Speaking to Meliyara, you say, "A wonderful answer. And one I can surely appreciate."
You chuckle to yourself.
You say, "My next question can be answered with a simple yes or no. Though of course you are welcome to expound upon your answer."
Meliyara arches an eyebrow at you, her gaze otherwise unreadable.
You recite:
"Do you believe that Ta'Vaalor's actions against Icemule have been justified?"
Speaking to you, Meliyara says, "I was not in these parts of the lands when Ta'Vaalor initially entered its so-called treaty with Icemule. From what I understand of it, however, it seems like an entirely disproportionate response to a perceived slight by a citizen acting of their own volition."
You nod in agreement at Meliyara.
You say, "Indeed. That is perhaps the thought held by the majority in Icemule."
Speaking to you, Meliyara says, "An understandable opinion to be held by those who are paying the price for the actions of one acting alone."
You nod at Meliyara.
You say, "Yes, this is very true. It is a shame that one single individual can cause so much chaos."
You shake your head, clucking your tongue.
Meliyara grins slowly.
You smile quietly to yourself.
Meliyara softly agrees, "Indeed."
Meliyara appears to be struggling to keep a straight face.
Speaking to Meliyara, you say, "And now, for my final question...I am sure you will navigate it as flawlessly as you have the others."
You nod at Meliyara.
Meliyara smiles quietly to herself.
You smile at Meliyara.
You recite:
"If this trip to Ta'Vaalor ends in disaster, and you are not heard from again, what final words might you offer Icemule?"
Speaking to you, Meliyara retorts, "Why would I possibly anticipate anything other than success?"
You laugh softly, trying to hide your amusement.
You gaze with interest at Meliyara.
You say, "Quite the optimist then, I can appreciate that."
Meliyara confidently says, "It is not mere optimism. It is faith in oneself and the Way."
You nod slowly at Meliyara.
Speaking to Meliyara, you say, "And so you will leave no words behind, because they are...unnecessary."

The petals of Meliyara's flower briefly wilt down over the stem until their light, papery surfaces come to rest against her like a hug.

Speaking to Fropple, you say, "I have had the pleasure of speaking to nearly all the candidates, and surely did not wish to miss out on speaking to you as well."
Fropple rubs his chin thoughtfully.

You clear your throat.

"What makes you want to take on this dangerous task?"
You cock your head at Fropple.
Fropple says, "I has much pride for Icemule, I want to do what is best. I am one of most courageous and adventurous halfling in town. As you know, many halfling content to be comfortable..."
You grin at Fropple.
You nod slowly.
You say, "Indeed. I've seen quite a few as you describe."
Fropple says, "I also friends with many, and many friends with me. I think I can convinces our neighbors to the East of the best way forward where both can gain."
You nod approvingly at Fropple.

You say, "And perhaps in this answer, you have already answered my next question. But I shall ask it anyway of you..."

"Why do you feel you should be chosen above the other candidates?"
Fropple says, "Yes, perhaps a toughy tough one, but we halfling are quick of hand, foot and mind, and as a halfling town, it important for Vaalor to see we are represented by its people. But very importantly, I also have some renown as one of best halfling warrior in lands. The Vaalor elfs also a warrior culture, and they will appreciate dis."
You flash a wide grin at Fropple.
Fropple knocks on a spiked set of halfling-crafted field plate.
You say, "Indeed, I have heard many say this exact thing about you...that Fropple stands as tall as a Dabbings."
Fropple strikes a heroic pose.
You say, "And considering these strengths, and perhaps your ability to sway the opinion of those in Ta'Vaalor, it brings me to my third question..."
You recite:
"What do you see as a reasonable outcome to this conflict?"
Fropple furrows his brow.
You ponder the meaning of Fropple's existence.

Fropple says, "Yes yes, I have thought much on it..."

Fropple says, "I has studied my books too....so we should know that Vaalor is very strong army...have even come to our defense without formal treaty...."
Fropple says, "Also that I think the treaty is sometimes overblown as an occupation, but I see it more as an easement...perhaps an apology, but to also formalize our agreement to make it more of a mutual aid treaty. They has not been aggressors to us, and sometime they even visit as guests, I see the High Lord himself sometimes."
Fropple says, "It is not a bad thing to has more friends, than less."
You smile at Fropple.
Speaking to Fropple, you agree, "Yes, friends are quite valuable. They can be used in so many ways..."

The people therein the Nations that I know are not warmongers and are and were actually quite friendly every time I've visited. I am just wanting to see this current issue resolved so there is no bloodshed and truly believe that Vaalor has no wish to do it either though if they did, I honestly think we'd be had by them."

Speaking in Elven, Falvicar says, "My faith is is renoun on Ronan, and Ronan protects... just as much as I am a Night Blade that serves Lord Redding of the Ronanite Order. I've lived in Trace / Pinefar for a very long time, am a full citizen, and I have my intensions already open and known. I would put Trace's interest first and stay level headed and respectful to not upset the King nor the militia therein. That means staying quiet unless spoken to. I understand I had a breakout against Grutak here in Trace during a council meeting. However; to be fair, had that been in Vaalor I'd like to think it would never have happened since Grutak would have been silenced the moment he accused Opalina without any proof whatsoever because of how organized and formal they are compared to us. Also, I speak Elven which if memory serves.. is a requirement over there."
You nod at Falvicar.
You say, "And considering what initiated that outburst, I do not hold it against you. I doubt many others would as well."

Opalina wraps her arms around Falvicar and rests her head on his shoulder.

You say, "Very good. Those qualities seem more admirable considering this situation. Let us move to the third question, which your travels to the east may assist you in forming an answer..."
You recite:
"What do you see as a reasonable outcome to this conflict?"
Speaking in Elven, Falvicar says, "The King would accept an apology and the two cities can continue to live and let live. They are not are enemy, and we are not theirs. There's plenty of fighting to be had against the vampires, and whatnot. I personaly have no problem with them to continue to cross over Icemule air since I have no doubts if they really were after us, we would already have been taken over by them. Maybe both cities can share that air and work together and forge a strong friendship and look at this mishap as something that should not have happened since the letter (with all due respect) should have never been leaked in the first place. I'd like to think they and us can focus on the more immediate danger and just work together as a team."
You smile.
You nod at Falvicar.
You say, "Indeed. And a well thought out answer, I admit."

You say, "In a general sense. The chaos that has come from one single insult. Including the past so-called treaty, as well as their current actions of buzzing the town with their airships of war."

Falvicar holds up his hand and tilts it side to side in a so-so gesture.
Speaking in Elven, Falvicar says, "In the end, it was just buzzing. Nobody got killed nor hurt that I know of."
Falvicar shrugs.
You chuckle.

You say, "This is true. As far as I know, none have been hurt directly....yet."

Keep my wife safe and tell Mohrgan he's the last Night Blade when a long enough time has passed with no word from me."

Speaking to Falvicar, you say, "I think your words offer both wisdom, and are quite practical as well. A good combination, surely."
Opalina seems hesitant, looking unsure of herself.
You nod at Falvicar.

You say, "Indeed. Selecting the right group is quite crucial."
