Giltie, a plump half-elven cook is an NPC that cooks on the Isle of Shells in the Eastern Waterways outside the Eastern Harbor side of Mist Harbor on the Isle of the Four Winds.
When she is given raw fruits or vegetables from the Isle of Shells, she will cook it for adventurer.
Behind the Scenes
Description
Robust of body, the half-elven woman has meaty arms and an amble bosom. Vivid blue and red floral patterns decorate the colorful dress that she wears, while bright white sandals adorn her feet. Thick, sausage-like fingers constantly play with the wisps of blonde hair that stray from the coiled braid that is perched upon her head. Sunny in disposition, the half-elven woman has brilliant blue eyes and a youthful carriage.
Room Messaging
Accepting a bundle of carrots from a child, Giltie picks up one of her knives and begins to chop the vegetables into bite-size pieces.
A length of timber crashes and falls over into the bonfire. The flames grow upon it slowly like roses awakening until the whole log is aglow with a garden of embers.
As the air currents shift, you are buffeted by acrid waves of withering heat and billows of hot smoke from the raging bonfire.
Giltie adds a bit of wood to the stove and blows on it until the log ignites.
Giltie fusses with several stray strands of blonde hair.
Lifting a wooden spoon from the countertop, the half-elven woman dips it into a pot boiling on a burner. Sipping the broth, she grins and adds a pinch of pepper.
One of the pots on the stove begins to bubble with a frenzy. Moving at a calm, stately pace, Giltie picks up a towel and, using it, carefully moves the pot to the counter.
Plucking a raspberry from a basket, Giltie pops it into her mouth and merrily munches on it.
Sparks shoot up from the flames to dance in the hot air above the bonfire. Most glow brightly for a time and then slowly burn up and wink out, but an alarming few drift off, still glowing red hot.
The bonfire crackles and flames jump. Burning embers ride upward in the shimmering air above the blaze.
With flint in one hand and a blade in the other, a plump half-elven cook sharpens her knife while humming an island tune.
Questions
>ask cook about cooking
Smiling broadly, Giltie says, "Why yes, I'm skilled at cooking. Oh, all sorts of things, from quahogs, peapods, corn, potatoes, asparagus, carrots, beans, peaches, apples, lettuce, grapes, and peppers."
>ask cook about bean
Grinning, Giltie says, "I could steam those up for you in a pot. I figure you’ll need about five handfuls to be able to get a meal’s worth."
>ask cook about pepper
"Do you like those stuffed?" Giltie asks with a grin. "Maybe some wild rice, a bit of tomato sauce, and some herbs? I only need one pepper, if you do."
>ask cook about peapod
"We’ve some nice ones growing not far away," Giltie says. "I could probably pull all the peas out of the pod and boil them for you, but one will never do. I think five would do nicely."
>ask cook about grapes
Smiling, Giltie says, "I’ve got a press back here and I could easily make you some juice if you bring me a two or three hand fulls of grapes."
>ask cook about peach
Smiling, Giltie says, "With four ripe peaches I could make a nice cobbler. Bring them to me and you’ll be in for a treat!"
>ask cook about apple
"You know," Giltie says in a conspiratorial voice. "I make a mean apple pie and with just four of those apples you could have a good-sized slice!"
>ask cook about carrot
"Well, I happen to know," Giltie says in a conspiratorial voice. "That there are some endives in a bowl over there and that cut carrots laced in orange complement them really well. I think three could feed the likes of you."
>ask cook about asparagus
"Mmm," Giltie says, "I just love asparagus. If you bring me four stalks I can cook them for you."
>ask cook about lettuce
Glancing down at her considerable girth, Giltie says, "I don’t much go for the food that food eats, but I could make you a salad if you bring me a head of lettuce."
>ask cook about potato
Grinning, Giltie says, "If you feel like digging some up, then I could probably see my way into baking it for you."
>ask cook about corn
"Very nice!" Giltie says. "If you bring me a cob, I’ll clean it up and boil it right nice for you. Even put a little salt and butter on it, too!"
>ask cook about quahog
"Oh! I love Quahogs!" Giltie exclaims. "I’d be more than happy to stuff one for you. Just hand it here."
>ask cook about littleneck/clam/cherrystone
"Been speaking to Flynne, have you?" she asks with a grin. "If you don't want to CUT your clam WITH your KNIFE to shuck it, then I can probably make you a nice pasta dish, but you'll want to give me at least half a dozen of the same kind to do that."
>ask cook about Flynne
Chuckling, Giltie says, "Did he send you to me?" Waving her hand dismissively, she doesn’t want for your answer before she says, "He’s a good soul, if a bit lazy. I like to feed him in the evenings."
