Most commonly, permanent Defensive bonuses are in the form of [[Enchant Item (925)|enchant]]ments upon [[shield]]s, [[armor]], and rarely other wearable items (known as DB items). It can also be granted by a rare enhancement found on some weapons (known as Defender weapons).

Meanwhile, temporary Defensive bonuses are available in the form of a wide variety of enhancer spells. There are many such spells, though the most common ones encountered include [[Spirit Defense (103)]], [[Mass Blur (911)]], [[Mass Elemental Defense (419)]], and [[Mass Colors (611)]].
