First you'll want to type in your character's name in the Search Box on the left side of the screen. Then search. When a page comes up saying it could not find the article for <red link> click on the red link for your character's name. Regarding your next question, let's see if I can try and paste the code for it without it adding this discussion page of your's to the category. Generally you'll want to type: [[Category: <fill in one>]] to do it. Actually, as an example I'll do it on the page for her, and then you can go and edit the page to see it. Oh, it might be easier on you to do the actually talks on your discussion page instead of editing the "user page". You can even sign them, as you see in mine, by typing four atildas at the end.
