You analyze your leather tome and sense that the creator has provided the following information: ************************ This tome is one of the Book Buddies! It currently has FLAMINGO style messaging. Your Book Buddy can be animated using TOUCH. When it is animated, use SNAP to have it land on a bookstand alongside you. (moves to inventory alongside). SNAP again to animate it then TOUCH to return it to normal form. When animated you can PROD it to toggle ambient messaging on or off. Any merchant who is comfortable handling your Book Buddy is free to do regular base and long alterations. It can be a book, tome, grimoire, magnum opus, opus, volume, manual, textbook, booklet, codex, compendium, lexicon, folio, or enchiridion. Only a special EG merchant can make changes to custom fields 1 - 5. They must make sense for the style. The current custom settings are: 1 = "long legs" - Limbs. wings/legs/arms etc. 2 = "marches" - Movement. moves/flies/walks etc. 3 = "a bookstand" - Bookstand. Full 15/15/15. 4 = "pages" - Pages. Illusion Styles
Different illusion styles can be added to existing books via a certificate. TURN is used to choose the desired illusion. RAISE is used to change the book into a Book Buddy.
Preexisting books come off the shelf in the avian style. Changing the illusion style of a predesigned book requires a merchant.
Currently, there are six available styles of illusion. These include:

A purple glitter-coated codex flying around with its feathery wings finds an air current and begins to glide within it for a long moment, its pages rippling in the breeze. As the gale fades, the codex dips down before flapping its feathery wings back to its previous height. The leather tome flaps its feathery wings once, causing it to rocket up into the air in a spiral. The maelstrom of feathers and parchment sends ethereal purple feathers outwards that quickly dissipate into the air. Reaching the peak of the upward draft, the leather tome spreads its feathery wings fully and slowly drifts back down to its normal height.

Majestic in its movement, the tome uses its long legs to move across the room at a steady glide. The leather tome fans its pages, creating a mesmerizing display of grandiose beauty. The tome lifts one leg up, points it straight back, and with a graceful swoop of its leg does a backflip to land on a single leg. Pleased with itself, it moves back to stand at your side, still fanning its pages leisurely. The leather tome fans its pages in mock disdain, the quiet fluttering of the parchments shifting back and forth, all while standing perfectly upon a single, pale pink leg. A small fleck of dust flits through the air and lands between two pages, which causes the tome to go into a fit. It prances around, shaking its pages wildly. It comes to a halt and goes back to its statuesque posture, ignoring the fit. The leather tome curls its long legs back and sits on the ground, its pages and cover standing vertically. A brisk breeze blows through the area and knocks the tome over. Its pages flail around while fragments of parchment fly until the leather tome finally is able to get situated and stands back up, regal as ever. The leather tome shuffles around, bending down at the ankles, swaying back and forth in search of something. Agitated by something it found, the tome comes tearing into the room, marching around angrily and swishing its pages from side to side, reminiscent of a banner waving in the wind. Through with its temper tantrum, the tome returns to your side, completely composed.
Insect

1 = "insect wings" - Limbs. wings/legs/arms etc. 2 = "flies" - Movement. moves/flies/walks etc. 3 = "a bookstand" - Bookstand. Full 15/15/15. 4 = "pages" - Pages. Can have an adjective. Must be some sort of paper, vellum, etc. 5 = "flying" - Movement ending in -ing. moving/flying/running etc.
Ambients
The tome finds a light source and flies around it multiple times, causing its pages to flutter in the wind. It finally stops and goes back to hovering above your left shoulder. The leather tome does several loop-the-loops before careening into the ground, flipping over and over again until it lands on its spine, pages fluttering open. The tome flops around, having a mini tantrum before it manages to flip itself upright and takes off into the air, shaking away the dust as it does. A leather tome flying around with its insect wings struggles to maintain flight above the ground, its tiny insect wings creating a buzzing noise with the amount of speed it is taking. The tome finally collapses upon the ground, its pages fluttering, as if it is panting for air. The tome lifts itself onto the edge of its covers before fluttering its insect wings once more and taking flight again. The tome lands on the ground, leaving its insect wings straight up, the very tips flickering and trembling swiftly. The tome calms and curls its insect wings into its spine and rests there for a long moment before quickly hopping into the air and taking flight again.

The leather book pulls out a bookmark from somewhere within its pages and moves it between each tentacles before settling on one and holding it within one of its side tentacles. It then rises onto two of its tentacles and uses the rest to act as a shield, and it reenacts a dramatic sword fight. The book dodges, then lunges forward, then rises its five other tentacles up to block an imaginary hit. It reaches its climax when it turns the bookmark and plunges it back within its pages and lies still on the ground for a long moment before returning to its regular position near you. A rhythmic beat echoes through the area as the leather book slaps its tentacles against the ground, like a musician playing the drums. Every few strokes, the book's suckers get stuck to the ground and make a soft "POP" noise when it manages to get free. The leather book plays its tune for a short while, then abruptly stops and crawls around. The leather book pushes itself up onto the tips of its tentacles. The book stands on two of its tentacles, folds two across its book body, and the remaining four rest on its spine as it begins to sashay around the room. It walks several feet in one direction before smacking into something. The book rubs its spine as it droops back down and crawls back to your side. The leather book finds an old boot, its tentacles carrying it around above its book body like it is a prize to behold. The book sets it down upright and attempts to crawl into it, but it fails miserably as it can't fit its fat book body into it. Angered, the leather book lifts the boot once more and tosses it out into the distance somewhere, folding two tentacles in mock toddler tantrum fashion. Laying flat, the leather book starts flipping through its pages rapidly with its tentacles, tearing some of the parchment. It flips back and forth through the pages until it finds one, a blank one at that, and taps it like it just found the answer to something. It then slams shut and hugs its book tightly before crawling back over to you.
