Smoke or mist pools in the ceiling beyond the exposed rafters that are hung with frosted orbs, the white light keeping the ethereal skeins at bay. Floor-to-ceiling bookcases line the walls, their shelves crowded with books, volumes, and tomes. Opposite the egress, a riverstone fireplace housing a low fire holds court amid worn leather armchairs.

On the mahogany shelf you see: a gradient twilight-hued handbook, a gilded tan leather book embossed with a tobacco leaf pattern, and a waterlogged leather-bound manuscript.
