LISTEN is a roleplaying verb. There are special options for sylvankind and half-sylvans.

Usage:
    LISTEN                       - Incline your ear to listen
    LISTEN {self}                - Listen to yourself
    LISTEN {target}              - Listen to a target
    LISTEN SET [option]          - Shows or sets the LISTEN verb options available

Verb information for verb "LISTEN":

People targets:
STANDARD    - You listen carefully to (target).
SYLVAN      - You tilt your head slightly toward (target), noting the subtle changes
              in his/her muscles and breathing.

Self target:
STANDARD    - You listen carefully to yourself.  Typical.
SYLVAN      - You listen quietly to the sounds of nature all around you, letting
              your heartbeat slow to join in perfect time with the pulsating
              rhythm of life.

Object targets:
STANDARD    - You turn your ear toward a (target).  Sounds about like you expected.
SYLVAN      - You lean in toward the table, pricking up your ears in an attempt
              to register every sound the table emits from the play of environmental
              forces upon it.

Creature targets:
STANDARD    - You listen carefully to a (target).  Yup, sounds like a (target) all right.
SYLVAN      - Raising the tips of your fingers briefly to one earlobe, you focus your
              hearing on the minute sounds of the creature's internal life force.

No target:
STANDARD    - You listen, but don't hear anything unusual.
SYLVAN      - You incline your ear in the direction of the natural air currents
              and intently focus on the slightest sound within your environment.

NOTE:  ONLY first person messaging is listed unless it differs substantially from other versions.  Wedding messaging will only work with your spouse, all other targets default to standard messaging.  Messaging without an option shown applies to all options.  Special scripts and areas may override listed messaging.

Additional Messaging

LISTEN	-	You listen, but don't hear anything unusual. Player inclines his ear, but doesn't hear anything unusual.
LISTEN {item} (not held)	-	Player turns an ear towards (item).
LISTEN {item} (held)	-	Player holds (item) up to her ear.
LISTEN {person}	-	Player turns an inquisitive ear towards (person).
LISTEN {self}	-	Player turns an inquisitive ear towards herself.

Listening to seashells may give special messaging.

For sylvans:

LISTEN	-	You incline your ear in the direction of the natural air currents and intently focus on the slightest sound within your environment. Sylvan's concentration shifts and becomes more focused as she slightly tilts an ear in a particular direction.
LISTEN {self}	-	You listen quietly to the sounds of nature all around you, letting your heartbeat slow to join in perfect time with the pulsating rhythm of life. Sylvan lowers her arms to her sides, breathing slowly and rhythmically, as a soft sigh escapes her lips.
LISTEN {person}	-	You tilt your head slightly toward {person}, noting the subtle changes in his muscles and breathing.
LISTEN {person} (dead)	-	You tilt your head slightly toward {person}, noting the absence of breath in the body.
LISTEN {creature}	-	Raising the tips of your fingers briefly to one earlobe, you focus your hearing on the minute sounds of the (creature)'s internal life force. Raising the tips of her fingers briefly to one earlobe, Sylvan seems to be channeling sounds from the (creature)'s very being.
LISTEN {item} (not held)	-	You lean in toward the (item), pricking up your ears in an attempt to register every sound the (item) emits from the play of environmental forces upon it. Sylvan leans in toward the (item), her pointed ears raised ever so slightly.
