The maoral tree is a slender tropical deciduous conifer that can grow up to two hundred feet high. It has short needles that start as a bright green or yellow in the spring, becoming a dark blue-green in the summer, and golden in the autumn before they are shed. Its flowers are very small, and may be white or red with green tips. The wood has a reddish hue, and is very durable though without inherent magical properties.
Sylvans are known to use maoral roots as bindings when constructing temporary buildings.
