Subject: Cleansing the Crop

A little over two months ago, a number of Imaeren worshippers were killed near Lake Marliese near the area of Wehnimer’s Landing. Rumors and speculation among religious circles hinted that the Imaerens were accused of revering dark forces while using the façade of Liabo worship. However many locals in and around Wehnimer’s Landing did not accept that assumption and even conducted their own investigation, led by the town’s marshal, Thrayzar.

The marshal’s report finally came back and revealed that those Imaeren worshippers near the Lake were not citizens of the town, but a few locals had mentioned being aware of their presence as some of them would occasionally come into the town to purchase a few essentials needed, or sell off some of their sylvan wares they produced. Of those questioned, many could not believe what happened, and had never suspected them of any foul deeds.

Meanwhile, a statement from Prelate Chaston of the Church of Koar in Talador was just recently released.

“The whispers and cries of those alarmed by the death of presumed Imaerens have continued to reach me, as many are faced with a very important question. Why did this happen? How could this happen? To this end, leaders among the hallowed ranks of the Blameless have spared no details when divulging the information surrounding this situation to me.”

“I wish I could tell you that I was as surprised as you, upon hearing of this incident months ago. But in truth, my eyes have long been awakened to the evil dangers lingering in this world. The wisdom of the Godking has revealed to me the shadows that cling to the corners of our lands, and threaten to steal the hearts and souls of all innocents. We only welcome our own damnation if we presume that wickedness will never hide behind a mask of civility.”

“In just recent times, we have seen the tragic effect of war and turmoil, wrought by the manipulations of dark and maniacal beings, and those who serve them. There must be rebuilding and healing, yes indeed, but now is not the time to forego vigilance for complacency. Evil walks and thrives still in this world, often hidden beneath layers of deceit and illusion. The enemies of Koar grow each day, desperately trying to gain new ground and new allies in their quest for chaos and death.”

“A garden left untended will grow weeds despite the farmer’s intentions. The sun and light of Koar must ever be present, lest the fruits of our labor perish. Now is not the time to bend in fear to shadows, but to strike and drive them out. While some may question the tactics of the Blameless, many others now welcome their strategy and the security their actions bring. From the details provided to me, I speak with the utmost confidence that members of the Blameless were divinely justified in their actions, and I welcome all to commend them on their bravery and often thankless sacrifice.”

“These heretics in question, the self-proclaimed worshippers of Imaera, were a small sect of sylvankind operating in the wilds near Wehnimer’s Landing. No doubt they felt safe there in pursuing their secreted agenda given the history and corruption in that region. The Blameless witnessed and collected various items and evidence indicating these sylvan were in fact worshippers of Althedeus, the demon of shadow that has been unraveled from existence. Despite this truth, those particular sylvan sought to regrow the unnatural black trees that once plagued Wehnimer’s Landing and other parts of the world, hoping to provide a means to resurrect the object of their adoration. It is through the light of Koar and the justice of the Blameless, that this threat was not allowed to fester any further.”

“So I offer this word of caution. Be observant against the darkness that still breeds around you, and be bold when the time comes to subvert it. Look not to your own established ways, which have more often than not led you astray. Instead, I call upon you to embrace the truth of Koar’s Light, step into his grace, and know that his power will provide you the protection you need, and the wisdom to determine friend or foe.”
