Warning: This page concerns archaic world setting information from the I.C.E. Age of GemStone III. It is not canon in contemporary GemStone IV, nor is it canonical for Shadow World as the details may be specific to GemStone III. It is only historical context for certain very old parts of the game and these things should not be mixed.

Muylari was the overseer of the ill-fated mining operation in Silver Valley. He was using amnesia sorcery to make the village of Velaskar forget they were a tourist town, no longer having any memory of the valley or its horses. The tour guide Jaron Galarn regained his memories and tried to free the enslaved horses, who were being used to haul the mining carts. Muylari ordered his men to bury Jaron Galarn alive, but then the ground cracked and released a great evil "wyrm" entity of darkness. Muylari survived while his mining crew mostly or entirely perished. Muylari shifted the valley into another existence with magic, and was cursed with immortality.

Muylari was an NPC who appeared around Wehnimer's Landing at some point in 1995 or maybe 1996. He sounded sad and was seeking his life's end. There is a log of this appearance, though some elements are De-I.C.E. anomalies. His master is said to have been a dark rider who saved him and his new wife from giants. This rider was a Faendryl on a black stallion, though this might only be De-I.C.E. terminology for an older log.

Behind the Scenes

"Muylari" is probably supposed to mean something in Iruaric or less likely Erlini, given its stark similarity to the word Iylari which are the High Elves. Research:Shadow Valley analyzes the story and Shadow Valley itself for its possible deeper meanings. The reason the Secluded Valley is found near The Graveyard (implicitly a "mana portal") may have had more explanation in story events around its release but it is not recorded now. Notably, there is no log for Muylari traveling to the valley, which may be when Shadow Valley was first released. However, that is briefly described in writing appended to a log of the Dark Pasture release event, with the wyrm demon.
