List of half-krolvin weapon and armor names
List of half-krolvin weapon and armor names is an Official GemStone IV Document, and it is protected from editing.
The following is taken from an official post by GM Xayle.
Perhaps more so than many of the other races known today, the Half-Krolvin have evolved from a world that valued function over style, relying on the utility of their tools to meet all the necessities of every day life. As such, many of their creations served double duty as both tools and weapons and were largely made of the materials at hand, rather than those that could be bought or imported. The earliest examples of Half-Krolvin weaponry found the use of wood, stone, bone, and the teeth of animals chief in their construction. Metal in large quantities was rare as the core of the culture shifted from slavery to freedom, and this can be noted in the distinct lack of the material in most early weapons. Instead, blades were fashioned of sharpened stones and teeth (such as those of sharks), while a greater concentration of the weapons created were blunt (utilizing natural formations of stone and the bones of large sea creatures) to create weapons that could just as easily be used to kill as to create (with such uses as hammers and mallets).
As the population of the Half-Krolvin began to swell, infusions of other cultures came to them (by trade or by conquest), bringing alternative methods of crafting, new materials, and a progressive understanding of how to expand their skills to incorporate these new ideas. As such, the styles of Half-Krolvin arms evolved from being tools that could also kill to instruments designed with only that purpose. Metal blades replaced teeth and spears were tipped with barbs, ushering these seafarers into a time where their bite became much worse than their bark.

As a seafaring race that evolved from slavery, options for armor were perhaps in shorter supply than those for weapons. Anything, with sufficient need, can be used as a weapon, but this is not so for armor. Primarily, the origins of Half-Krolvin armor were found in tough leather and hides, from both beasts of the land and of the sea. In construction, it was very basic - layers of padding beneath leather stitched with sinew served as the very first incarnations and served all Half-Krolvin equally. Hence, the word for such armors is a general term and covers any such pieces, regardless of where or how they are worn. Distinctions are only made if one is feeling particular and are generally distinguished by referencing the area of the body protected in addition to the word for armor.
It wasn't until Half-Krolvin became more integrated with human (read non-Krolvin) societies outside of slavery that metal armors rose in prevalence and indeed came to be seen as a necessity in battle. As such, many of the Common names for these types and styles of armor have been adapted from the native languages from which they originate, although a few styles have adopted their own labels in the Half-Krolvin tongue.
