Character Vignette Missing

Thunder echoes in the distance, a flash illuminates the window in the small room, casting shadows across the floor. Narsisius could not sleep, a girl was missing in the wilds. He knew that terrain, rough woodlands on the sides of the dragonspine. He wondered if she took the longer route south, or tried to cut through the mountains near Zul Logoth.

Rolling over, he just could not fall asleep, the words written on the flier invoked a feeling he could not shake. Something was wrong, some things did not add up, but he could not define why he felt this way. Some inner string, a thread for the gods to tug on, or was this girl different? This blood binding...and her twin? What was his deal, he seemed sincere but Narsisius could not shake this feeling.

Giving up on sleep, he rose from the bed and crept to the window. Peering outside, his gaze lost focus and his mind churned, something felt wrong. He decided to write his thoughts down and send them off. It may be nothing, but he knew better than to wait before reporting his concerns.```

(Note: My first vignette, a small peek into the life of Narsisius. He will admit to having his concerns, but the rest is secrets that will be revealed over time )

Part 2: The Reply

The flame of a candle causes the shadows to dance upon the wall as Narsisius makes his way back to his room. As he reaches for the doorknob, he notices the twig knocked over onto its side, his early warning system to determine if someone had entered his room. Cautiously he slipped into a more defensive posture and listened closely at the door.

Nothing could be heard, but that did not mean it was empty. Slowly he inched the door open, searching for traps or tripwires. Noticing neither he pushed the door wide and rolled into the room, coming to a crouch, ready to strike. Instantly he relaxed and rose when he saw who his guest was.

"You are to follow this trail, carefully. We must learn all we can about these Saxe's and this blood binding." Without another word the guest departed, eerily silent. Narsisius watched her leave, as captivated as always by her figure and her silence. He knew it was a fantasy, but everytime he saw her he could not deny his attraction. Closing the door, Narsisius turned and settled onto the bed.

"So, they did find this important, so much so that they sent her" he thought. He pondered the implications for a while before drifting off, his dreams taking him to places lost in the past.
