Subject: Illistim professional guilds open their libraries
Upon discovering that access to guild libraries was restricted, Alamras leveraged his considerable clout to persuade the local Ta'Illistim Wizard Guild to open their collections to members on the basis of researcher's access: There will be no lending of materials, and an extremely modest fee is required for access. Other guilds in and around Ta'Illistim soon followed suit. As word of these developments reached associated professional guilds in other towns, they too began to watch with anticipation, but have not yet committed to opening their protected libraries.
To use the guild library for alchemy research, simply go to where the books are and start SEARCHing. (The layout of the Wizard guild requires one to find the halls with the bookshelves, not the reading corners.) If you need a break, don't worry -- the state of your research will be preserved for up to 2 weeks.

<< Oof.. think I just ran into a book-bug. Was I supposed to see this roll? >>
Seeing the open d100 roll is intended. You've encountered one of the random events that can occur during research. :)

<< does success have anything to do with guild/alchemy ranks/knowledge? Can John Q 1 Rank in Potions discover a rank 60 potions recipe, or will that require someone rank 60 or above? >>
Yes. You won't discover any recipes above your rank.

<< Strath, is it design intent to have us discover recipes we may already know? >>
The alchemy system is not designed to track knowledge of recipes. Your character only 'knows' a recipe insofar as what he has recorded in a recipe book (or what you the player have written down or made note of yourself.)

<< You can't be talking or doing anything else while you're researching either, otherwise it will take 2-3 times as long (i.e. up to an hour and a half). >>
The only action that should significantly disrupt research is moving between rooms, and when it happens you'll recieve a message to that effect. (Something along the lines of "Your wandering has distracted you, so you need to start at the beginning.")
