Polished sheets of steel surround the room, making it nearly impossible to locate an obvious entrance or exit from the area. Brass pipes, covered with silver valves and copper knobs, run lengthwise along the ceiling, bending sharply at the corners to continue down each wall. Gnome workers in stiff white longcoats rush to and fro, some holding fancy tools and others with wooden blackboards, continuously attending to an enormous machine.
