What is Amazing Alpaca Adventures

"Amazing Alpaca Adventures" is a game that is played before a Dreavening starts. It is also known as AAA.

How do I join?

Simply whisper JOIN to Dreaven before or during a Dreavening to receive your alpaca. Note you can't whisper JOIN to Dreaven while a race is going on, well you can but you won't receive your alpaca.

Once you have received your alpaca you can play AAA simply by being at the table when the race beings. If AAA is chosen as the game to be played the race starts at around the 11 minute mark of the countdown to when the Dreavening starts, giving you about 4 minutes to get to Dreaven's table once the 15 minute countdown is announced.

How do I play?

Your alpaca does most of the work. There are 10 rounds where your alpaca has to run as far as they can. Each round is broken down into 4 phases, with your alpaca managing 3 and sometimes all 4 by themselves. There is a speed phase where your alpaca runs a certain number of meters based on its speed. There is an endurance phase that checks to see if your alpaca has enough endurance to run as fast as they are. There is a luck phase that will give your alpaca bonus meters if they find a portal. All of this is invisible to you the player but takes all of your alpaca's prime stats into account.

The fourth phase is a skill check event phase. Skill check events are either interactive or non-interactive.

If an interactive event is chosen then you the player will be presented a challenge and you must choose from 1 of 3 options to instruct your alpaca on how they should proceed. If you're right your alpaca will receive a bonus, either bonus meters, a boost to one of their prime or secondary stats for the rest of the race, or you will win bonus tokens. If you're wrong your alpaca will either lose meters or lose some points in one of their prime or secondary stats for the rest of the race, you can't lose tokens via events. If you choose the third option then you won't receive a bonus or a penalty.

In non-interactive events your alpaca does all of the work. The non-interactive event will be based on one of your alpaca's prime or secondary stats, the higher their stat for the stat event chosen the better chance they have to succeed. Non-interactive events or pass/fail, your alpaca will either succeed in which case they can receive a bonus to meters or a stat for the rest of the race, or your alpaca can lose in which case they lose meters or points in a stat for the rest of a race. Dexterity will give your alpaca a boost in their chance to succeed in non-interactive events, even events that are dexterity based to begin with. If your alpaca fails the event their luck might give them another chance to succeed.

There are clues in the messaging which indicates if luck played a role. For example if Dreaven whispers this to you:

"Your alpaca was about to answer incorrectly but luckily saw its mistake in time, but it failed to see the other mistake it made. This is not good. Number 99999 seems to have taken a light hit on the head which results in a loss of 1 speed for the rest of the race."

This indicates your alpaca failed the event but luck gave it another chance to succeed, but unfortunately the alpaca failed the second chance.

There are clues in the message which indicates which stat the event was focused on. For example if Dreaven whispers this to you:

"Marvelous! Your alpaca knows its fashion. Number 99999 is feeling captivating which results in a gain of 1 endurance for the rest of the race."

The "feeling captivating" message indicates it was a Charisma event and since the alpaca was successful it received a bonus of 1 to their endurance.

What are my alpaca's stats?

Your alpaca has three prime stats: speed, endurance, and luck.

Speed makes your alpaca run faster so it can cover more ground. Typically your alpaca can run as fast as their speed allows but there is a catch; if your alpaca's speed is much higher than the average speed of all alpaca's in the current race then your alpaca won't be able to maintain their top speed, instead their meters traveled each round will be anywhere from the average speed of all alpaca's all the way to their speed stat.

If your alpaca is much faster than the average speed Dreaven will whisper this to you:

"Number 99999 is having trouble maintaining their top speed!

Endurance ensures your alpaca can keep running as fast as their speed allows. The way it works now is if your alpaca's endurance is higher than the average endurance of all alpaca's in the race they will receive an energy boost every round, if their endurance is lower than the average endurance they will receive a penalty every round. I don't like the way this works because it penalizes newer players because they haven't yet had a chance to train their alpaca much therefore they will have lower endurance than the average endurance.

The new way will instead compare your own alpaca's endurance to their own speed. If your alpaca has too much speed compared to their endurance then they will receive a penalty, lower endurance will result in a greater penalty. If your alpaca has too much endurance compared to their speed then your alpaca will receive a boost, the higher your alpaca's endurance the greater the boost.

Luck affects just about everything in the game. The main thing it does is it gives your alpaca a chance to find a portal that gives them bonus meters traveled, the greater your alpaca's luck the greater chance they have of finding a portal during every round. Luck also has a chance to give affect both your speed and endurance every round. Finally luck plays a role in non-interactive events; if your alpaca fails the skill check then luck gives your alpaca a chance to take the skill check again. This won't guarantee success, it just gives your alpaca a second chance to succeed.
