As a player continues to use Mana Leech, the amount of mana the spell returns decreases. A player can leech an amount of mana equal to their maximum mana capacity before they must rest. (e.g. A player with two hundred (200) maximum mana is able to leech the same amount of mana using Mana Leech before requiring rest.)

The maximum amount of mana a player may steal on any given cast of Mana Leech is determined by the number of [[Major Elemental (500)]] spell ranks they are trained for, less one (1) mana for the cost of the casting. (e.g. A player with 50 ranks in Major Elemental spells will, at a maximum, be able to steal forty-nine (49) mana from their target.)

On each successive successful cast of Mana Leech, the caster will steal ten percent (10%) less mana than on the previous successful cast. This confinues until the caster steals as much mana as their maximum mana capacity. (e.g. The same player from the previous example would steal forty-nine (49) mana on the first cast, forty-four (44) mana on the second cast (ten percent of fifty being five (.10 * 50 = 5), and fifty (50) less five being fourty-five (50 - 5 = 45), less one for the cost of the casting (45 - 1 = 44)), fourty (40) on the third cast, and so on.)
*As a wizard continually uses 516, the amount of mana they can receive lessens. In a session of leeching, assuming no time has passed in between, the wizard can in total leech as much mana as their head can hold. ie. A wizard with a 200 mana capacity can leech 200 mana in a row without resting.

*Assuming that the target has enough mana and the end roll is high enough, a first successful cast of mana leech in a session will yield the amount of 500 ranks the wizard has (less the one mana point for casting). ie. If a wizard konws up to spell rank 550, they will acquire 49 mana from their first leech.

*On each successive cast of mana leech (again assuming that the end roll is high enough and the target has enough mana) the caster will receive 10% less mana than the leech previous. If the mage in the previous example got 49 mana on the first shot, they will get approximately 45 mana on the next cast. This will continually occur until the wizard "uses up" their mana leech, and is no longer receiving mana from successful wardings.

*After the wizard has "ran out" of leeches, they must rest off the effects. When the wizard has fully recovered from the session, they will see the message: ''You no longer feel the effect of casting mana leech.'' Mana Leech (516) is the Wizard's mana returning spell. On a succesful warding of critter or other character, the wizard "steals" mana from the target. At no point will a Wizard be able tom leech more mana than their maximum mana capacity. The target must have mana to be stolen for Mana Leech to succeed, and Mana Leech can never steal more mana than the target has. Successfully warding a target costs one (1) mana, while a failed warding check costs the expected sixteen (16) mana.

How much mana can I leech?

As a player continues to use Mana Leech, the amount of mana the spell returns decreases. A player can leech an amount of mana equal to their maximum mana capacity before they must rest. (e.g. A player with two hundred (200) maximum mana is able to leech the same amount of mana using Mana Leech before requiring rest.)

The maximum amount of mana a player may steal on any given cast of Mana Leech is determined by the number of Major Elemental (500) spell ranks they are trained for, less one (1) mana for the cost of the casting.

Recovering from use

Once a player has stolen an amount of mana equal to their maximum mana capacity, they must rest and allow the effects of Mana Leech to fade. The effects fade gradually over a period of time, and additional attempts to steal mana with Mana Leech may be attempted shortly. (e.g. A particular player may recover from casting Mana Leech at the rate of two (2) mana per minute. In this example, the player would be again able to steal two (2) mana after one minute, four (4) mana after two minutes, and so on.) Full recovery from the effects of Mana Leech is indicated by the message: You no longer feel the effect of casting mana leech.

Skills that affect Mana Leech

Ranks in this circle determine the maximum amount leechable on the first cast. This circle will also help in determining the wizard's warding strength (CS) of the spell.

The skill that determines the amount of mana a wizard can hold, determines the maximum mana a wizard can leech in a session without resting.

The more ranks of this skill, the faster a mage can shake off the effects of a mana leeching session.
