Face painting can be done with paintsticks. The face paint shows up in a character's features, but it does not replace any of the character's features. A face painting can be worn even when a person is wearing blush on the cheeks, warpaint on the face, and a temporary henna tattoo on the face, all at the same time. A face painting can be worn with nail polish or other things that occupy the character's unique feature line.

Analyze

You analyze your yellow stick and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions.

The creator has also provided the following information:

You get the sense that any talented merchant can do some alteration work on a twisted yellow stick, but no merchants can change the base color unless they are providing a special service to do just that.

You can try to FLIP and PAINT with the stick, and INSPECT might give you some usful information.

Currently the designs you can use on the yellow stick are:
BANANA, CANARY, BOLT, TART, LION, GOLDFISH, COIN, WINGS

You get no sense of whether or not the stick may be further lightened.

Inspect

The yellow stick appears to have 23 uses remaining.

The stick can not be worn.

Usage

Verb Style First Second Third
FLIP Single-sided paintstick You idly flip your swirl-etched stick into the air and catch it. N/A XXX idly flips her swirl-etched stick into the air and catches it.
Double-sided paintstick (two color choices) You flip your stick around, going from red to yellow paint! N/A XXX flips her stick around from the red paint to the yellow colored paint on the other end!
PAINT (target) Successfully applying a face paint design to another character requires two attempts.
First You offer to paint a black rose on Vanah's face. Vanah has 30 seconds to grant or refuse her consent. Cupcake offers to paint a black rose on your face. You can CONSENT GRANT or CONSENT REFUSE in the next 30 seconds to grant or refuse your consent. If you do not respond, consent will automatically be refused. Third Person View --> None
Second Vanah consents to your painting her face. You step up to Vanah and paint quickly, dabbing at her with your black stick. Soon, a skillful image comes out on her face.

Roundtime: 20 sec.

You consent to Cupcake, allowing him to paint your face. He steps up to you and begins to dab at you with a black stick. After a few minutes of intense concentration, Cupcake steps back with a proud look on his face. Cupcake steps up to Vanah and begins to dab at her with a black stick. After a while, a pattern begins to emerge on Vanah's face. After a few minutes of intense concentration, Cupcake steps away to proudly display his work.

Additional Information

Some alternate names for a paintstick are: branch, brush, stick, or twig. FLIPping a double-sided paintstick will change its color. Not all colors will work with all designs.

Location

Here, in bold text, is the location of a face painting in a character's description:

You see Lady XXXX YYYYY the Bard.
She appears to be a Human.
She is tall and appears to be young. She has a shimmer of <EYESHADOW-COLOR> on her eyelids, beautifully <EYELINER-COLOR>-outlined blue eyes , <BLUSH-COLOR> cheeks, glossy <LIPSTICK-COLOR> full lips, bold <WARPAINT-COLOR> stripes on her face, and <POWDERED>, <SOFT>, tanned skin. She has long, straight blonde hair pinned back on one side with a <HAIR ADORNMENT>. She is inked with a <TEMPORARY HENNA TATTOO>.
She has a <FACE PAINTING>.
She has a <REGULAR PERMANENT TATTOO>, and a <PIERCING>.
She has <WOUNDS>.
She is wearing <CLOTHING>.

Syntax

  • PAINT <character> WITH <style> USING <item>

Error Messaging

Incorrect Syntax

In this case, the correct syntax would have been "paint XXX with goldfish using stick":

>paint XXX using goldfish
Syntax: paint <player> with <design> using <item>
Currently the designs you can use on the red stick are:
BLOOD, SCAR, TARGET, FANGS, GASHES, FLOWER, BLOOM, HEARTS, PUMPKIN, EAGLE.
Incorrect Color Selected

In this case, the stick was FLIPped to the "red paint" setting, but the GOLDFISH design can only be painted using the "yellow paint" setting, so to fix it, you must FLIP the stick to the "yellow paint" setting:

>paint XXX with goldfish using stick
You study the designs on the stick a bit harder.
Invalid Design

In this case, a design was being attempted which was not among the designs listed upon ANALYZING the stick. The only designs available on this paintstick were STARS, SUNBURST, DRAGON, CAT, RAINBOW, and DROPS.

>paint XXX with goldfish using stick
You study the designs on the stick a bit harder.
