I don't really understand the point of long-term experience. What does it do, why is it any use, and how does it differ from regular experience? The Wiki really doesn't explain, and no matter who I ask in-game, I don't get an explanation, just told to read the Wiki again. There must be something I'm missing, but I don't know what.
