Urglaes is a deep black, highly magical metal thought to be of pure darkness. Its properties are unpredictable, especially while being forged, often resulting in explosions or unexplained mutations of the bodies of those who work with the metal. In order to avoid these effects, magical aid is required to forge urglaes. Typically, a successfully forged urglaes equipment will be extremely powerful, but not all of the effects can be turned against the opponents of those who wield it; thus, there is always a cost when using urglaes.
Urglaes is typically found in long-dormant volcanoes or in the blasted lands of Rhoska-Tor. When found, urglaes is usually in small shards, though large, perfect spheres up to three feet in diameter and streaked with crimson have been found.
