LISTEN is a roleplaying verb. There are special options for Sylvans and Half-Sylvans.

Usage

LISTEN	Incline your ear to listen
LISTEN {self}	Listen to yourself
LISTEN {target}	Listen to a target
LISTEN SET [option]	Shows or sets the LISTEN verb options available

Messaging

People Targets

STANDARD	1P	You listen carefully to (target).
	3P	Vanah turns an inquisitive ear towards (target).
SYLVAN	1P	You tilt your head slightly toward (target), noting the subtle changes in his/her muscles and breathing. (living)
	1P	You tilt your head slightly toward (target), noting the absence of breath in the body. (dead)

Self Target

STANDARD	1P	You listen carefully to yourself. Typical.
	3P	Vanah turns an inquisitive ear to herself.
SYLVAN	1P	You listen quietly to the sounds of nature all around you, letting your heartbeat slow to join in perfect time with the pulsating rhythm of life.
	3P	Vanah lowers her arms to her sides, breathing slowly and rhythmically, as a soft sigh escapes her lips.

Object Targets

STANDARD	1P	You turn your ear toward a (target). Sounds about like you expected.
	3P	Vanah turns an ear towards a (target).
HELD ITEM	1P	You hold your (target) up to your ear and listen carefully. Sounds just like a (target).
	3P	Vanah holds a (target) up to her ear.
SYLVAN	1P	You lean in toward the table, pricking up your ears in an attempt to register every sound the table emits from the play of environmental forces upon it.
	3P	Vanah leans in toward the (target), her pointed ears raised ever so slightly.

Creature Targets

STANDARD	1P	You listen carefully to a (target). Yup, sounds like a (target) all right.
SYLVAN	1P	Raising the tips of your fingers briefly to one earlobe, you focus your hearing on the minute sounds of the (target)'s internal life force.
	3P	Raising the tips of her fingers briefly to one earlobe, Vanah seems to be channeling sounds from the (target)'s very being.

No Target

STANDARD	1P	You listen, but don't hear anything unusual.
	3P	Vanah inclines her ear, but doesn't hear anything unusual.
SYLVAN	1P	You incline your ear in the direction of the natural air currents and intently focus on the slightest sound within your environment.
	3P	Vanah's concentration shifts and becomes more focused as she slightly tilts an ear in a particular direction.
