KNEEL is a verb that can be used in combination with many things to increase their effect; skinning is a notable example of this. The Pray and Meditate verbs make the player kneel when used. The Paladin spell Judgment (1630) can force enemies to kneel making them more vulnerable.
Kneeling also causes a considerable drop in melee defensive abilities.
