Summary

  • As [[::Wehnimer's Landing|Landing]] guards grumble about Murdos' speculated culpability in Malluch's release, a small group of adventurers head to the gemcutter to gather info. Mayor Leafiara says the people are concerned he might have bribed someone, but he denies that and starts saying he had no choice, as the town couldn't protect Malluch and he's his only son. Balley asks if he went to Grishom Stone for help and Murdos confirms it.
  • Murdos expresses regret, not that Malluch's alive and whole but that he's a puppet of Stone. Balley asks if he thinks Malluch's being controlled by Stone and Murdos says he doesn't know. Chandrellia asks if Malluch's visited since his return; Murdos said he tried once, but he (Murdos) turned him away because he couldn't face him since part of him is ashamed and because his bloodguards were with him along with probably some who helped him get out of jail.
  • Murdos says he's sorry for striking a deal with the devil, but couldn't see him suffer. Fahlo asks if Stone wanted anything else in return; Murdos says Grishom said Malluch would bring all he needed.
  • Murdos asks if everyone can help him speak to his son next time he comes around, and help him come home, saying Lana would be ashamed. Leafi agrees to try to help and asks if he knows what happened to the Jastev symbol Lana gave him. Murdos doesn't and says he can search Malluch's room; Leafi says Lylia (as mayor) had had it taken away, but since Malluch got out of jail it's possible the symbol is somewhere else now too.
  • Murdos says he's worried what might happen when Stone is done with Malluch or what they might be asked to do to keep him healed, and concludes that he doesn't care what everyone needs to do or what method they use to return Malluch to him. Zosopage, Fahlo, Leafi, Balley, Chandrellia, Hapenlok, and Nuc agree. Murdos says he's heard Malluch is coming again this weekend, with the ill expected to seek healing. Several offer to try and get Murdos and Malluch together alone, but Murdos says the more voices present, the better.

Rumors Abound

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see a weepy mountain spirit that is flying around, the green Pheon disk, a sleek spot-tailed hawk that is flying around, the Zosopage disk, the Balley disk, the Kippe disk, an amber-eyed tawny range wolf, the cauldron-shaped Paatryn disk, an ember-eyed fire wyrdling, an animated longsword hovering in mid-air, a large acorn, the Vynce disk, some wolifrew lichen, a large acorn, a stained cotton bag, a large acorn, a velvet bandana, a large acorn, a dented nail, a moldy peach cupcake, a large acorn, some puffy purple lint, a large acorn, a large acorn, some strange silvery lint, a large acorn, an herbal remedy donation bin and some stone benches with some stuff on it.

Also here: Tazziel, Kailii, Squire Legionnaire Iskandr, Pheon, Zosopage, Gypsy Scribe Balley, Kippe, Kestleenook, Great Lord Draphik, Lord Paatryn, Hapenlok who is sitting, Mayor Leafiara, Kalithra, Jara, Vynce, Yavs who is sitting, High Lord Balzighast, Haleran

The sky begins to fill with huge clouds, dark and grey on the bottom, pale and white atop, their puffy crowns ascending toward the heavens.

Hapenlok says, "Oh, you're probably going to live."

Balley softly says, "I am ok."

Leafiara curiously says, "Hm."

Balley softly says, "Was going to see if you wanted to do bandits."

Speaking musingly to Balley, Leafiara says, "Maybe after whatever awaits us tonight."

Balley softly says, "Oh."

Balley softly says, "I see."

Balley softly says, "Weather."

Zosopage asks, "What's in store?"

Leafiara exclaims, "Seems so!"

Leafiara cautiously says, "And no idea."

Zosopage says, "Ahh rain clouds."

Leafiara optimistically says, "Maybe Alendrial wants to present the next council choices."

Hapenlok says, "I suppose I should be 'THAT GUY'."

Hapenlok says, "And ask Malluch how well he can heal himself."

Hapenlok says, "If he shows his face around here tonight."

[Realm] Leafiara notes, "Nice rainy night, it seems!"

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Right now, though. You've just hired yourself a bodyguard, though."

Speaking dubiously to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "Over Malluch? The guy seems harmless and useless now."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "That's what makes him dangerous."

Balley softly says, "I do not trust him."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Iskandr says, "I was actually hoping for a bit of Malluch storytelling at Bardfest, but he's quite garbage at being engaging and pacing himself and probably rotten with a harp."

Balley softly says, "He has not explained HOW he got healed."

Hapenlok says, "The dumbest and mindless minions are always the most dangerous."

Balley softly says, "And why he is changed."

Zosopage says, "Never trust another's pawn."

Balley softly says, "The lightning is bright today."

Some town guards wander by, muttering, "...ole Murdos is probably to blame...I wouldn't even visit him unless I didn't have gems to sell sometimes...I guess it's special treatment for merchant kids...." They wander off.

Leafiara slowly says, "Welp."

Leafiara says, "Let's go see what that one's about..."

Balley softly says, "Interesting."

Leafiara recites:

"Join up!"

Leafiara wryly says, "I know, I know, I'm no Pukk."

Zosopage says, "Thank Koar."

Speaking to Leafiara, Fahlo says, "It was good."

Leafiara recites:

"Moving in three!"

Iskandr says, "I certainly have the timing. I just decided to take a bit of a break from the forge."

Confronting the Past

[Gemcutter's, Front Room]

Inside the Gemcutter's shop, you see two glass showcases holding jewelry and precious stones. Directly ahead of you is a low desk with several racks holding tools of the Gemcutter's trade. You also see a plain clasp, a rose-marrow potion, the gem dealer and a blackened narrow door.

Murdos Burdos sighs.

Murdos Burdos says, "Come to sell lots of gems?"

Balley softly asks, "What is going on Sir?"

Speaking affably to the gem dealer, Leafiara says, "Well, rumors do go wild in this town--it seems you already know."

Speaking to the gem dealer, Hapenlok says, "You know why we're here."

Leafiara picks at the knot holding her silk gem pouch shut, opening it carefully.

Speaking wryly to the gem dealer, Leafiara says, "Nope."

Leafiara ties her silk gem pouch shut tightly.

Speaking to the gem dealer, Zosopage says, "I'm a gem hoarder such as yourself."

Speaking to the gem dealer, Leafiara explains, "I do believe the people are concerned you bribed the guards somehow..."

Murdos Burdos says, "I'm happy to inspect any gems you've brought."

Balley removes a deep blue thunderstone from in her fine silver case.

Balley softly says, "I can sell this to you."

Speaking softly to Nuc, Chandrellia says, "Join Leafi."

Murdos Burdos says, "I did not bribe them."

Chandrellia softly says, "Oh no I was just here."

Chandrellia softly asks, "What happened?"

Speaking to the gem dealer, Zosopage asks, "Any specific gems you are looking for?"

Speaking curiously to the gem dealer, Leafiara asks, "Do you know how Malluch did get out, then?"

Leafiara adds, "Or even when."

Murdos Burdos says, "Yes..."

Leafiara amiably says, "Any information would be helpful."

Nuc asks, "Placing an order Murdos?"

Iskandr says, "I have my lucky coral."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Balley says, "I have a gem if you want one."

Leafiara offers, "And for what it's worth, I'm glad to see he's healthy again."

Murdos Burdos says, "I had little choice."

Balley softly asks, "Little choice?"

Leafiara cautiously asks, "You were... pushed? Blackmailed?"

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Chandrellia says, "You can trust Leafi, just be honest with her."

Murdos Burdos says, "The town couldn't protect him. He was left broken, blind...so lost."

Leafiara sadly says, "Well... on that point I agree with you."

Balley softly asks, "Who took him?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Fahlo says, "Hard to work against a parent's love."

Murdos Burdos says, "He's my only son. My flesh and blood son. It would turn his mother in her grave."

Balley softly asks, "Did you go to Grishom to ask for help?"

Murdos Burdos says, "....yes."

Speaking understandingly to the gem dealer, Leafiara says, "Hey, it's alright. We're only looking for information, not casting blame."

Nuc says, "Always family."

Murdos Burdos says, "...and I regret it. Well, most of me does."

Chandrellia softly says, "It's ok Murdos."

Leafiara admits, "I'm mostly surprised Grishom bothered hearing you out."

Murdos Burdos says, "I don't regret that my son is alive, whole, and can see."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Balley asks, "What was the price? Why do you regret it?"

Murdos Burdos says, "But I regret he is some puppet for Stone."

Murdos Burdos says, "...I wish he wasn't."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Chandrellia says, "You don't trust him."

Abeer says, "Oh."

Murdos Burdos says, "I wish we could make it so he wasn't."

Speaking tentatively to the gem dealer, Leafiara says, "I'm not entirely sure that he is."

Kestleenook softly asks, "Stone?"

Nuc says, "Oh no."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Balley asks, "Do you think he is being controlled by Grishom?"

Ceilia says, "Depending on the degree to which his strings are being pulled, he may not be your son."

Murdos Burdos says, "I don't know."

Speaking vexedly to the gem dealer, Hapenlok asks, "....what did you offer him?"

Leafiara reasons, "His approach seems different than Grishom's, somehow."

Speaking to Balley, Zosopage says, "I do."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Chandrellia asks, "Has he been to see you since his return?"

Murdos Burdos says, "He tried once."

Zosopage says, "Grishom has some kind of hold on him or holding something over his head."

Murdos Burdos says, "I couldn't face him. Not yet."

[Calael comes in to script sell a bunch of things]

Chandrellia softly asks, "And what happened?"

Murdos Burdos says, "Jeez Calael, relax."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Balley says, "I know when he healed me his energy did not feel like Grishom's if that helps you feel better at all."

Razanetika softly says, "Dear lords."

Leafiara explains, "The fact that he actually reviewed Grishom's terrible past in the public streets makes me feel like he's trying to rebel where he can."

Murdos Burdos says, "If you go that fast all the time, you'll never keep a woman."

Razanetika softly says, "He's already gone." [Calael]

Murdos Burdos says, "Figures."

Balley softly says, "Come and go."

Leafaiara wryly says, "Don't worry, that'll go in the news reports."

Speaking to Razanetika, Iskandr says, "Fast indeed."

Razanetika softly says, "Men are always in a hurry."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Chandrellia asks, "So what happned when he tried to see you?"

Speaking to Chandrellia, Nuc says, "See? I told you."

Zosopage says, "And he doesn't know you don't buy crystal amulets yet."

Zosopage says, "Eesh."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Nuc exclaims, "Gotta take your time!"

Speaking drunkenly to the gem dealer, Gutstorm says, "2 minootsh ish all da time I need to shpend wif a woomin if yooz catch me drift."

Leafiara soberly says, "But seriously, something does seem off with Malluch. I'm not sure he's entirely gone."

Leafiara admits, "Maybe that's just my hope speaking."

Murdos Burdos says, "I turned him away. For now."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Chandrellia asks, "But your only son your blood, why?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Iskandr says, "Seemed a bit far gone to me."

Murdos Burdos says, "Because I'm ashamed. Part of me is."

Speaking to Leafiara, Zosopage says, "There must be something we can do to help him."

Nuc says, "He's still your son tho."

Murdos Burdos says, "And his...people were with him."

Chandrellia softly says, "Awe Murdos, you did what you thought at the time was right."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Balley asks, "Did you sense your son's presence when you saw him? Or did he feel like a stranger?"

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Razanetika asks, "Why only part of you?"

Nuc says, "And he needs you now, more than ever."

Speaking to Leafiara, Zosopage says, "At least I hope there is."

Speaking carefully to Zosopage, Leafiara says, "That kind of help... might require being stronger than Stone."

Murdos Burdos says, "Some of those bloodguards. Probably some of those who helped him even get out of jail."

Murdos Burdos says, "I know he is my boy. I saw him healed."

Speaking to Leafiara, Zosopage says, "Perhaps a commune with Koar may actually help."

Leafiara says, "I'm inclined to agree with Nuc, he needs you more now than ever."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Chandrellia says, "Look sweetie, all of every single one of us has done something that we thought at the time was right."

Speaking musingly to Zosopage, Leafiara says, "Well, if you see Brokkrsten and he's willing to give that a shot, it's worth considering. I would think Jastev if anything, though."

Chandrellia softly says, "I mean look at me."

Speaking to Leafiara, Zosopage says, "Stone aspires to become greater than the Arkati. I would hope they would have something to say about it."

Nuc says, "I've done a lot of rituals, but nothing that can help with this."

Speaking to Zosopage, Leafiara says, "That's why I'm not all that bothered about his war on the gods. They can defend themselves."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Balley says, "Look."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Balley says, "He is your son! As a mom I know I would do anything for my girls."

Murdos Burdos says, "I am sorry for what I did. I shouldn't have, struck a deal with the devil, if you will."

Speaking sincerely to the gem dealer, Leafiara says, "And I... am truly sorry we couldn't protect him, those years ago."

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia asks, "You think there is more to Mall then he is letting on? That he isn't as far gone as he appears to be?"

Speaking to Balley, Nuc says, "That's why I'm wondering what the hesitation is."

Murdos Burdos says, "But, I couldn't see him suffer."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Balley says, "Do not feel bad for helping him. Right or wrong you were being a parent and making your son better."

Speaking to Balley, Nuc says, "I'd sell everything I own and give everything I have to find a solution."

Fahlo asks, "Stone want anything outside your kid in return?"

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara says, "I do think so, or at least hope so."

Murdos Burdos says, "No. He said my boy would help bring all he needed."

Murdos Burdos says, "Whatever that means."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara says, "Stone told Thadston he didn't want people replacing seeking the Arkati's help with seeking his help... but now along comes Malluch acting like some kind of Arkati bringing aid."

Nuc says, "What does that mean."

Iskandr says, "I don't love the sound of that."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara says, "It doessn't seem to fit Stone's ways."

Hapenlok says, "Altruism from Grishom stone."

Zosopage says, "I wish people would sell in bunches more often." [people running in and out selling all throughout]

Hapenlok says, "That's rich."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Balley asks, "Maybe once he has what he requires your son will be back to normal?"

Murdos Burdos says, "I don't know...."

Nuc says, "I don't know what I'd trust in that."

Speaking softly to Balley, Chandrellia says, "Unless what he seeks is more of us."

Murdos Burdos says, "Maybe you can help speak to my son, next time he...he comes around?"

Speaking to Balley, Iskandr asks, "Did he seem normal the other night?"

Leafiara confesses, "None of us know. We're speaking hope and theory at this point."

Leafiara offers, "That would be good, I think. We can do that."

Murdos Burdos says, "I want him to come home."

Leafiara adds, "Or at least try."

Murdos Burdos says, "He's healed, he's whole. No need to carry Stone's banner."

Murdos Burdos says, "Lana would be ashamed."

Speaking curiously to the gem dealer, Leafiara asks, "Do you happen to know what happened to the Jastev symbol Lana gave him?"

Murdos Burdos says, "I do not."

Berost deeply says, "That boy o' yers aint be listenin to a dern thing but what the Stone be filling his head with."

Murdos Burdos says, "I can search his room tomorrow."

Iskandr says, "I have a lot to learn about the Landings. I still prefer swords before words when people act like that man did the other night."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Balley says, "I know he did not seem controlled when I saw him. He wanted to help others. Is he being controlled I am not sure. I just know he was not violent."

Gutstorm offers Leafiara a moldy cinnamon cupcake.

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "It not sho fresh."

Leafiara says, "Well, Lylia had the symbol taken away with his other belongings while he was imprisoned, but it's just--"

Murdos Burdos says, "I know Stone. Well, I know the stories of him."

Leafiara reasons, "If he got out of prison, then other things might have somehow escaped too."

Murdos Burdos says, "I am worried what might happen, when he is done with my boy."

Murdos Burdos says, "Or worse..."

Speaking to Balley, Iskandr says, "There were men on rooftops ready to spring on us that night."

Leafiara accepts Gutstorm's moldy cinnamon cupcake.

Murdos Burdos says, "...what we might be asked to do, or allow, to keep him healed."

Iskandr says, "I don't trust it at all."

Speaking to the gem dealer, Nuc says, "You need to take action before it's too late."

Speaking to Iskandr, Kippe says, "Those were Rooks."

Speaking softly to Iskandr, Chandrellia says, "Do not fear the shadows on the rooftops."

Speaking offhandedly to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "Don't worry, they don't aim their arrows at us. ...anymore."

Balley softly says, "Time will tell, I think we need to get him away from his bloodguards and away from Grishom."

Murdos Burdos says, "They've been painting more of those bloody circles tonight."

Iskandr says, "Ah, again, I suppose I am over wary. But I don't love anything that calls itself Blood whatever."

Murdos Burdos says, "Even outside of my shop."

Balley softly says, "Maybe talking to him alone he will open up."

Speaking to the gem dealer, Leafiara sighs, "Yeah, it's a bit of a... movement."

Murdos Burdos says, "I feel like I saved my boy, only to doom dozens of other peoples boys."

Speaking to Balley, Nuc says, "If we can get him alone, perhaps he can speak freely."

Balley softly says, "I would love to read for him."

Speaking drunkenly to Pietra, Gutstorm says, "Percashinsh."

Iskandr says, "And see, painting more blood everywhere."

Hapenlok says, "You know, having been fooled by Grishom, I can say....it's very seductive the things he offers. He was a mentalist...is a mentalist, but he's rarely had to exert any of that talent to get what he wanted from us."

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Chandrellia says, "That has to stop, we have no law outside the gates but they are doing this in our gates."

Speaking to the gem dealer, Leafiara says, "There's some cause for hope. So far he doesn't seem to be attacking us."

Murdos Burdos says, "I need you to return my boy."

Balley softly says, "See what is in his head."

Zosopage says, "Sometimes it's hard to tell the good people from the bad."

Speaking to the gem dealer, Zosopage says, "We will do what we can at the very least."

Speaking to Leafiara, Fahlo says, "That symbol might bring his wits back to him- worth a shot.. at least remind him of home perhaps."

Nuc asks, "We think he's not attacking us, but do we really know what all those blood circles are?"

Murdos Burdos says, "I don't care what you need to do."

Speaking to Chandrellia, Leafiara says, "I know, but we're a bit short on staff to identify what buildings belong to who and who's painting what. If anyone complains, though, we'll try to get the blood circles cleaned up on their own buildings."

Murdos Burdos says, "Or what method you use."

Balley softly says, "I know I will to see what I can do to you help you sir."

Speaking to Fahlo, Leafiara says, "I agree."

Nuc says, "I fear we may be misled."

Nuc says, "And then it will be too late."

Gutstorm drunkenly asks, "In pieshesh?"

Nuc says, "We must act soon."

Speaking to the gem dealer, Leafiara says, "I'll inquire with the guards and militia where his Jastev symbol went and if we can get it back to him."

Speaking softly to the gem dealer, Chandrellia says, "We will do what we can for him I am sure of it, I know the Mayor is diligant, and strong headed and when she wants something bad enough she goes after it, in my heart I know she will do what she can."

Speaking to the gem dealer, Hapenlok says, "Speaking for myself, if there's a way, I'll find it."

Murdos Burdos says, "I've heard he'll meet with townspeople again this weekend. There's some rumors that the ill are expected to come out."

Speaking to the gem dealer, Leafiara says, "And as said earlier, we'll try to get him to speak with you alone or at least in a small group."

Hapenlok says, "And failing that...."

Balley softly says, "I think if you could talk to him alone, you would feel better."

Balley softly says, "You would also see what if he is himself."

Murdos Burdos says, "I can't alone. Maybe with some of you present."

Leafiara says, "So far he's only been able to heal wrinkles... I wonder who'll put him to the test."

Murdos Burdos says, "The more voices, the better, I am sure of it."

Balley softly says, "I will be there with you if you need me to be."

Nuc says, "You have my support."

Speaking reassuringly to the gem dealer, Leafiara says, "We'll be here. It's the least some of us can do."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "Well, there's my problem."

Speaking curiously to Hapenlok, Leafiara asks, "What is?"

Hapenlok asks, "That little blood binding Raznel problem?"

Iskandr says, "I don't know, it seems the man far gone enough to kill his own father, but hey, not my town."

Chandrellia softly says, "I will do my best if you wish me there, though it depends on the day your son decides to visit."

Speaking wryly to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "Oh, right."

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "He was actually more violent a couple years ago than he is now. So far he hasn't lifted a finger against us this time."

Murdos Burdos says, "Thank you for your help. I've got to focus back on work. But...but thank you."

Iskandr says, "Yet...."

Speaking earnestly to the gem dealer, Leafiara says, "We'll talk it over and do what we can."

Balley softly says, "We will get to the bottom of things."

Iskandr says, "It feels like a very large noose, slowly constricting."

Leafiara wishes, "Good business to you this eve."

Speaking to Balley, Nuc says, "I could only imagine if that happened to my son."

Murdos turns back to his counter, picking up his tools and beginning to inspect some faceted jewels along his workbench.

Speaking to the gem dealer, Hapenlok says, "I can't make any promises, Murdos, but for my part? I'll do what I can."

Speaking softly to Iskandr, Chandrellia exclaims, "Welcome to the Landing, embrace the chaos!"

Speaking softly to Iskandr, Balley says, "Welcome to Landing."
