Thanks for everyone's patience on this! We've done some tweaking on multiple parts of this event, but we're ready to announce the dates.

Prime - BMC will run from Thursday, February 4, 2016 through Sunday, February 7, 2016. Platimum - BMC will run from Thursday, February 11, 2016 through Wednesday, February 17, 2016. The event will run concurrently with the Sweetheart Festival (a free event) in Platinum.

Ticket prices and other details will be out soon. The events will be a little different in each instance, by design.

Subject: Admission to Briarmoon Cove

Things will be heating up in the frosty town of Briarmoon Cove! For this event, we're trying something new. Instead of buying a ticket through the box office, anyone who wishes to visit the festival will buy a luminescent silver-gold orb from the Simucoin shop. This item will allow you to be transported via magical portal to the festival venue. Once you enter the portal, the orb will "lock" onto whatever character uses it, so there are no "admit all" options for this event (though it's something we can look into for future events, if the interest is there).

The cost of the orb will be 3250 Simucoins. Orbs will likely show up in the box office before the event opens, but will not be made available to purchase until opening day. We don't want anyone losing orbs! The orbs will NOT be limited, so there's no need to worry about getting it early.

Thanks to SGM Sleken for his hard work on the new entry mechanics!

Subject: Re: Admission to Briarmoon Cove

Just to re-iterate on the original announcement post...The orb locks (attunes) to the character that uses it.

So...

Q: Can I buy an orb and then give it to someone else?
A: Yes, as long as you haven't used it.

Q: Could I buy orbs and drop them everywhere?
A: Sure, Mr/Mrs Moneybags.

Q: Is the orb really only good for one character for this event?
A: Yes, just the one. One is the loneliest...I'll stop.

Q: Would these orbs be good for future runs of this event (if they happen)?
A: No. This event only. Plan accordingly.

Q: Will these orbs work for other events like Ebon Gates's'es?
A: No.

Q: Does this fix that annoying feature of buying a box office ticket and having to log out and back in to get that ticket to show?
A: Oh yes, it does. It VERY MUCH fixes that issue.

You see a lost and lonely dwarf, standing beside a small cabin along a winding trail. He jiggles the handle on the cabin door. It's locked. A voice from inside shouts, "I have not received word that you are eligible to enter this cabin."

"Huh?" mutters the dwarf, scratching his head as he stares at the small cabin. He kicks the door with his muddy boots. Nothing... He knocks again and waits. Nothing... He bangs his head against the door with a heavy kthunk!.. Ow, that had to hurt!

Grumbling to himself, he sits down to rethink his strategy. Glancing around he settles his gaze on a small clearing way off yonder at the end of the trail. "Hmmm" he muses aloud, "I wonder....."

Thanks, Flannihan, you mighty quest-tester, you!

Kotwynn Forest is the mini-quest area, and Backwoods is the shop that sells Forest Armor and is located within Kotwynn Forest.

Kotwynn Forest's entrance is accessible to anyone attending Briarmoon Cove, but in order to get inside Backwoods, you'll have to complete the mini-quest. It's very Zork-like in its flow and objectives (I think, at least), and it will require that you go back and forth through areas to find some missing items. Once you have found all (6) items, the weary traveler will send word to the shop merchant that you assisted him/her and you'll be able to enter the shop.

During the quest you will a variety of items - some are the (6) required items that the weary traveler needs, and some are items that you'll need/use to obtain those (6) required items. Any items found inside Kotwynn Forest are used only in Kotwynn Forest. With the exception of a few quest items, dropping items on the ground will end your quest, but there is a confirmation when you do this. Be careful of repeating commands without reading the associated text. If you abandon the quest before completion, you will be pegged an abandoner, and you will have to wait an hour before trying again.

The mini-quest can only be completed once. You can, however, start the quest and then leave the area to go do more shopping or attend a raffle, and then return when you want to pick the quest back up. The quest/area can only be accessed during the BMC event.

The quest is pretty straight forward - but it will require that you pay attention to your surroundings, your items, and any dialog you might receive from any NPCs. All NPCs have Q&A and lazy actions that might lend clues to help you in your journey. Not all items have a show description, but some do - make sure you look at everything! The weary traveler can aid you as well - and has hints available to you as you progress. You can ask the traveler about your PROGRESS, or if you're really stuck, you can ask him/her for a HINT.

For Backwoods, this shop sells only Forest Armor, and all AsG types are available. Once you've completed the mini-quest, you'll be able to access the shop, and can do so as often as you'd like. The shop merchant (Toku) will be available during the festival to perform some unlocks from Tier 1 to Tier 2, Tier 2 to Tier 3, and raffle a couple Tier 4 versions of the armor. Armor must already be T2 to receive an unlock to T3; Raffles for T4 armor (2) will be new items - not an upgrade from an existing T3.

Subject: A mist-enshrouded trail

A mist-enshrouded trail appeared near Tilaok Terrace in the small coastal town. Speculations quickly traveled among residents as to the portal's origins, but none would give a definitive answer. Some say it must have been brought by the Chronomages, strategically planted to further their ongoing research into the mysteries of time travel. Others say the portal leads to an unchartered area of Elanthia known as Kotwynn Forest. No one knows for sure, but rumors have begun circulating in anticipation of the upcoming festival that will soon fill the streets and markets of Briarmoon Cove with adventurers from all over.

A representative from Briarmoon Cove recently sent a statement to town leaders, "Our initial investigations have shown this area to be safe, but further analysis is necessary before we can give additional information. As soon as our scouts return from the most recent expedition, we will report our findings post haste. We are confident that this portal is of a friendly nature."

Subject: A Letter From The Mayor of Briarmoon Cove

Prospective Attendees,

At the frigid and blustery mouth of the Olbin River lies our beautiful port city of Briarmoon Cove, cozily nestled among snow-covered craggy cliffs and deep caverns. While easily reached by traders and merchants arriving from the sea, those approaching from the inland trails are met with unforgiving environmental hazards and a harsh, nearly inaccessible terrain, making travel to this area largely unpleasant. Briarmoon Cove has remained a mostly secluded haven for seafaring traders and merchants because of such limited land access... until now!

The Chronomages, having become increasingly interested in merchant trade opportunities within Elanthia, have invested significant efforts and research in devising alternative methods to expand their reaches in goods transportation. Olthos Demache, a Chronomage well-known for his diverse knowledge of time travel and obscure methods to overcome restrictive challenges, sent a brief missive explaining their interest in the aggregation.

"The limitations of terrain and weather severely inhibit the ability to move goods from one town to another, resulting in lost income for that town and its merchants. With our assistance, towns may be eligible to experience and benefit from a vast new system, which we are promoting and scouting for here at Briarmoon Cove. We want to keep our eye on potential locations, so we will be appraising what they have to offer at the festivities of this groundbreaking event."

As the mayor of Briarmoon Cove, and the appointed ambassador for the festival, I welcome you all to join us in celebrating this worldly gathering of artisans. We have brought delegates from all across Elanthia to our seaside retreat, and they will be marketing quintessential offerings from their homelands. Be sure to stop by all of the shops from each represented area, as you will find a vast assortment of commodities, both unique and familiar. Some are even exclusive to Briarmoon Cove.

The residents of our town have been preparing for the much-anticipated arrival of visitors, and attendees will be able to experience such things as stunning coastal views of the night sky, street performers, ice sculpting areas, the Lighthouse Pub (best known for its warming spirits), the traveling airship known as The Revenge, and over twenty exclusive shops with wares from Icemule Trace to Ta'Illistim! We hope to see you all in a little over two weeks.

Briarmoon Cove awaits!

Subject: A Letter From The Chronomages To Briarmoon Cove

Dear Mayor Fain,

The events that Briarmoon Cove hosted for the Chronomages were some of the most spectacular and beautifully curated functions we've ever had the pleasure of attending. During our stay, we were fortunate to be able to talk with many of the guests and merchants, and we were astonished by their love and knowledge of Elanthia's landscape. My associates and I have deliberated on what constitutes a prime location for our expansion plans, and while each one of us began the conversation with a favored region, we agreed in the end that each individual town had many valuable traits that could prove useful to our operations. You all have left a lasting impression on us.

We will soon be announcing some significant modifications to our popular gold rings. After our extensive research at this festival, we feel that selecting single town for our expansion is not in our best interest. Rather, it is imperative that we deliver this contribution to many different realms, so that everyone may collectively benefit. These improvements will bolster both transportation and trade within several different areas. We look forward to sharing these advancements with you all in the very near future.

Best regards,

Lady Esrine Muiray Chronomage, Senior Envoy Restday, the 7th day of Fashanos, in the year 5116.

Garli Jewelry

Date: 12/04/2015
Subject: Representing Zul Logoth: Jeweled Caverns

Garli will travel to Briarmoon Cove to share her finest wares all the way from Zul Logoth - gleaming jewels and jewelry to place them in! There will be a variety of items suitable for these jewels - rings, bracelets, anklets, pendants (sorry, no pinworns) - a wide selection to choose from. Off-the-shelf jewelry has one indentation available for a jewel.

Jewels for the jewelry will not be sold off-the-shelf, but instead, there will be piles available to "grab" (buy) a random jewel.

These "grabs" are randomized from all stats and skill ranks. The main (and least expensive) pile will be completely random. The other two piles are separated into magic/combat and utility. If you purchase a jewel from one of these two (more expensive) piles, you will only receive a jewel for a random trained skill - or, a stat. Jewels purchased from the more expensive piles are attuned, and jewels purchased from the main random pile are not. Attuned jewels that are placed into a jewelry item will convert the jewelry to an attuned status.

Jewels can be removed from the jewelry so that you can change them out, but there's a very small chance - upon any jewel removal - that the jewel will shatter.

Garli will be unlocking a limited number of jewelry items to Tier 2, and raffling a few Tier 3 jewelry pieces. Tier 3 raffles will be for new items, and upgrades for previous unlocks (to T3) will not be available at this festival.

>buy cushion
You pass your promissory note to a dwarven clerk who makes a few notations on the note and returns it promptly with a grunt.

You reach into the black velvet cushion and pull out a square white jewel.

>analyze my jewel

The creator has also provided the following information:

This square white jewel is from the jewel piles originally seen at Briarmoon Cove 2016, and cannot be altered in any way. It can be placed inside one of the jewelry items from Jeweled Caverns. These can be identified by the merchant Garli's craft mark.

This jewel, when placed into an appropriate jewelry item, will provide a bonus of 1 to Sorcerous Lore - Demonology Ranks.

>glance
You glance down to see a square white jewel in your right hand and a silver herringbone ring in your left hand.

G>analyze my ring

The creator has also provided the following information:

Originally seen at Briarmoon Cove 2016, this ring may be altered but must remain a jewelry item with a flat surface. This item is currently Tier 1 of 3 tiers. (Number of jewel slots = tier.) Only Garli (or an approved merchant) may work on this ring, and further upgrades will be limited in scope. Current verbs: CLEAN (clear charges), PULL (remove jewel), RUB (select active jewel for removal). If you are holding a suitable jewel, you can PUSH JEWEL to insert it into an available indentation on the ring. Caution: There is a very small chance that the jewel will shatter when removed from the jewelry.

Only one jewelry item of this script may be worn at the same time.

On the initial jewelry purchase, it will be charged for your first jewel insertion. After that, you will need to remove the charges before you can swap out jewels. Jewelry (with jewels) can be recharged at the Adventurer's Guild.

>look my ring
There is no jewel set into the silver ring's indentation.

>push my jewel
You place the square white jewel over a shallow indentation on the silver ring and push down with your fingertip. The jewel clicks firmly into place.

>look my ring
Seated firmly into the silver ring you see a square white jewel.

More teasers coming soon! Start planning early!

Please note: While similar in nature, this is not fusion. It is a completely different item and functions solely within its own script.

Forest Armor

Subject: Beware the grues...

Okay, so maybe not grues!

Deep within Kotwynn Forest lies a shop by the name of Backwoods. It was recently discovered by Briarmoon Cove residents who happened upon a mist-enshrouded trail that had mysteriously appeared within Tilaok Terrace. A few brave adventurers ventured down the trail, and it was weeks before they returned. However, details of the shop sparked interest within the coastal town. They hope to return once the festival is underway.

Forest Armor is a new armor script making its debut at Briarmoon Cove. It's (currently) only available from Backwoods. This is a tiered armor script, and all armor types are available in the shop.

What does it do? That's a good question! I'll try to summarize for you.

The armor has been touched by Imaera, herself, and will call upon the powers of the forest for the wearer! There are 4 tiers; each tier carries both an enhancive benefit (ranks), as well as a special combat ability; Subsequent tiers add that respective tier's benefits to the armor.

The benefits are as follows:

Tier 1 (off-the-shelf)

+1 perception
Wind Gust - lowers creature DS

Tier 2

+1 Stalking and Hiding
Leaf Swirl - increases player DS

Tier 3

+1 Survival
Mud Sling - decreases creature AS

Tier 4

+1 Climbing
Woodland Empathy - increases player AS/CS

The values for the special abilities is random, between 3 and 5, and its duration is random. Firing chances on the special abilities increases with each tier, as well. Limited unlocks for the armor will be offered at the festival. It's quite zesty, and it doesn't work in water.

The best part? Forest gnomes (!!) will get +1 to any of the above values.

Edit: I will be raffling off 2 T4 versions of this armor.

Couldn't we all use a good glass of champagne from time to time?

>glance
You glance down to see a gold-labeled green champagne bottle in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.

>open my bottle
You unwrap your champagne bottle's foil top and get to work loosening its cork. You work the cork with a careful twisting motion, until -- POP! -- it falls into your hand, a pleasant wisp of vapor spilling from the mouth of the bottle in response.

>glance
You glance down to see a gold-labeled green champagne bottle in your right hand and a gold-flecked cork in your left hand.

>sniff my cork
As you make a show of bringing your gold-flecked cork up to your nose and inhaling deeply, you smell the lingering, mineral aroma of champagne.

Did you know there's more than one way to open a good bottle?

>glance
You glance down to see a gleaming cobalt blue champagne bottle in your right hand and a gilded red-tasseled bronze sabre in your left hand.

Just please, please be gentle with each bottle, as opening a disturbed bottle can lead to unpleasant results...

>shake my bottle
You give your champagne bottle a vigorous shake.

Other surprises await the curious.
