Ivory is traditionally the substance an elephant's tusk is made of. In Elanthia, it likely also applies to a mammoth's tusk, though any substance made of any animal's teeth or tusk is ivory.[1]

Description:   Worn down by the ungentle touch of sand and wind, the crescent of ivory is darkened with age to an unenven nut brown hue. The faintest hints of carvings glide along its surface, but they are neither deep nor consistent enough to suggest their original intent.

Description:   Smoothed by the work of long years, the chunk of ivory is so old that its white surface has darkened to a rich brown. Only the faintest hints of old carvings mar its smooth surface, and they have been reduced by erosion to sinuous lines that are barely visible.

Description:   Apparently a fragment of a large creature's tusk, this chunk of ivory has been polished to a high gloss; whether by nature or man, you cannot tell.
