The dappled sunlight leaking into the airy cavern concluded for the day as the beams slowly retreated off the eager wildflowers soaking them up.  A strike of a match illuminated the kakore table displaying a bunch of papers and books, a different scene than the vials and cigar wrappers that usually cluttered the surface.  
 
A pair of calculating eyes darted between a piece of vellum and her notebook as a quill moved seamlessly along the page.  Finished with the thought, the aelotoi’s brow furrowed as she evaluated the words.
 
Quickly her hand ripped the page from the binding, before crumbling and tossing it over her shoulder, the ball of paper joining the many others that littered the cavern floor. An exasperated sigh escaped her lips as she tapped the quill against a clean page.
 
No idea seemed good enough.  Strong enough.  Electable enough.  What was holding her back?

A breeze whispered through the cave, fluttering pages in the notebook and falling open to a particular passage.  Her eyes shifted downward.  Written at the bottom of the page in her handwriting were the words, “You are not a hero...and you were never meant to be.”  

Kayse bit her lip hard, trying to wipe the memories from her thoughts. Her past failures and mistakes flooding her mind from that period in time.  You’re not fit to rally others.  To do good.  To save the---
 
Suddenly, a male voice in her head interrupted her own, “Do not underestimate yourself, Kayse.”

Her thoughts turned to the other night; The request. The confidence he had in her. The ability to keep growing herself.

Perhaps, Wehnimer’s didn’t need a hero, it had plenty of those---it just needed someone who was willing to try, willing to listen, willing to put in the hard work.  Someone to inspire...hope.

Her pear green eyes skimmed over the piece of vellum on the table. Picking up her quill, she began to write again...

“I, Kayse Thaellian, feel I could bring numerous attributes to the Wehnimer’s Landing Town Council...”
