Summary

 • A town clerk brings word that Praxopius from Estoria, the alchemist who Breshon invited to the Hendoran outpost, is expected to arrive by the weekend. He's anticipated to want a tour of the town "again," as he reportedly formerly lived in the Landing.
 • Afterward, Balley begins seeing further visions--which Stormyrain and some others believe to be from Jastev, though Meureii and different others argue otherwise. Balley relays the following:
 • Balley sees a desolate wasteland and again sees the grey-robed woman with silver hair, amethyst eyes, and sanguine runes across her hand, matching Stormyrain's description and which Stormy and others speculate might be her future self.
 • The woman walks through the wasteland and pauses at a headstone partly reading "...1115. May he Kn...", leading to speculation that it's Walkar Wellington's grave and Balley is seeing the future of a destroyed Landing.
 • The woman's form seems faded as she approaches Balley, more spectral than flesh, and she whispers to her mind to "Kill the paragon. Then the rest." Finally the vision fades.

A Clerk's News

[Moot Hall, Mayor Lylia's Office]

From a dais, the maoral desk and an ivory and velvet curule seat loom over two carved wooden chairs. Tapestry rugs cover the hardwood floor, their patterns complementing the arched windows flanking the desk. A stag's head stares at a panoramic fresco mounted opposite it. In a corner near the bar, a scarred witchwood perch rises to the high ceiling, while several feet away, a black iron stove rests against the west wall and is topped with a silver kettle. You also see a town clerk, a varnished modwir door, a maoral bookcase and a small maoral sideboard with some stuff on it.

The clerk smiles and waves, "Good evening!"

Hapenlok says, "I found some old half plate. If anyone makes the obvious joke that comes of that statement I'll murder them."

The town clerk says, "Your face is old half plate!"

Speaking to a town clerk, Hapenlok says, "Actually, that one was a good one."

Looking at a town clerk, Hapenlok holds up two fingers in front of his face and pinches them together violently while staring intently through the narrowing aperture. How odd.

Cruxophim calmly states, "Right back."

Cruxophim's eyes cloud over with dark shadows as he prepares a spell...

Cruxophim gestures into the air.

A silvery fog coalesces around Cruxophim, obscuring his form. When the fog dissipates, Cruxophim is gone.

The clerk looks over a small scroll in his hand.

Lylia says, "That man is always so busy."

The town clerk says, "Ahem....oh...this isn't a long one at all."

The town clerk mutters thatswhatshesaid.

Speaking to a town clerk, Lylia says, "As are our clerks. I appreciate your coming out in the rain to deliver the message, short though it may be."

The town clerk says, "When is it not raining."

Speaking to a town clerk, Lylia says, "Sunny days, cloudy nights."

The town clerk says, "It seems Lord Breshon's expected visitor is to arrive this weekend."

Stiana asks, ".... visitor?"

The town clerk says, "Praxopius of Estoria."

Xorus asks, "Does Praxopius have a family name given?"

The town clerk says, "That's all I had." The clerk rolls up his scroll and stands there for a moment, kind of turning his palm outward a bit.

Lylia gives a sidelong glance at a town clerk.

Cryheart says, "I think he wants to be paid."

The town clerk says, "I do not know a surname. The scroll does not indicate sorry."

Xorus nods.

Xorus says, "Very well."

(Lylia fishes a few folded bloodscrip out of her pouch and shakes the clerk's hand.)

Lylia warmly says, "Thank you so much."

Lylia nods to a town clerk.

The town clerk says, "Oh! I am told he may seek to tour the Landing again."

Goldstr asks, "Again?"

Florania quietly repeats, "...again?"

Lylia says, "How fascinating. He has visited us before, then? Perhaps it was before my time here."

The town clerk says, "I had heard he once lived here."

The town clerk says, "It could be a rumor. We clerks are full of them."

The clerk smiles, bows and wanders off.

Broken Visions For Balley

Just as the clerk disappears down the hallway, a swirl of grey mist appears around Balley's head for a brief moment.

Speaking to Balley, Stormyrain murmurs, "Our Lord seeks to use your Gift."

Balley removes a bright silver scrying bowl from in her ivory gossamer pelisse.

Cryheart asks, "Ye feeling ok?"

Balley takes out a small flask of water and pours it into her silver scrying bowl then stows the empty flask.

Balley gazes into her silver scrying bowl, her expression growing blank and eyes unfocused. After a short while she blinks a few times and seems to be aware of her surroundings again.

Balley gazes into her silver scrying bowl, her expression growing blank and eyes unfocused. After a short while she blinks a few times and seems to be aware of her surroundings again.

Balley wrinkles her nose.

Wisps of grey light pass along Balley's eyes, like ribbons of grey ethereal silk coiling in and out.

Balley gazes into her silver scrying bowl, her expression growing blank and eyes unfocused. After a short while she blinks a few times and seems to be aware of her surroundings again.

Speaking to Zosopage, Goldstr says, "Hopes ye kin keep her away from Stone."

Balley gazes into her silver scrying bowl, her expression growing blank and eyes unfocused. After a short while she blinks a few times and seems to be aware of her surroundings again.

Speaking to Goldstr, Zosopage says, "I'll do whatever I have to do."

Speaking nonchalantly to Goldstr, Cruxophim deadpans, "He's standing behind you, perhaps you should try harder."

Stiana asks, "So... perhaps I haven't been around for all the latest developments... but does this Prax whatever person mean he declined Grishom's offer?"

Speaking to Stiana, Stormyrain says, "..not exactly."

Cruxophim drolly mutters, "I mean, he could be."

Speaking quietly to Stiana, Florania explains, "It's an alternate plan, working with the Magister and Lord Xorus."

Florania quietly says, "He is still deciding."

Stiana says, "So he hasn't given Grishom an answer yet..."

Goldstr says, "Kinda both."

Cruxophim calmly repeats, "He's delaying to explore... other options. Stone seems a last resort, as one might typically expect."

Stiana says, "Makes sense."

Stiana says, "Not sure anyone can really trust him."

Slate-hued whorls of mist seep across Balley's eyes.

Speaking absently to Stiana, Cruxophim remarks, "Not my child, not my decision, not my concern."

Balley softly says, "I see a land is desolate and broken, with an endless terrain of fragmented, grey earth that is caked in layers of ash. The air is suffocating, with a thick, rancid odor and a faint heat still lingers in the area. The sky is bleak, resembling an expanse of ink-whorled slate."

Xorus says, "The bleaklands."

Meureii says, "Bleaklands."

Speaking amusedly to Xorus, Cruxophim agrees, "Seems fairly bleak."

Balley softly says, "Lord Jastev help me to see."

Cryheart says, "Interesting."

Balley gazes into her silver scrying bowl, her expression growing blank and eyes unfocused. After a short while she blinks a few times and seems to be aware of her surroundings again.

Within Balley's eyes, you think you can see the reflection of another person approaching her, but unseen in the room.

Balley closes her eyes and chants quietly under her breath.

Balley recites softly:

"In the distance, amidst the broken land of grey and black, a lone figure appears. garbed in a tattered grey robe. The hot wind stirs the cowl of the robe and locks of pale silver hair can be seen. Staring out from the shadows of the hood are two dark amethyst eyes, that squint against the dust and ash in the air. The figure approaches, holding out a slender arm, revealing a series of interwoven sanguine runes across the back of her hand."

I>look stormy

It is difficult to get a good look at Stormyrain due to the number of mirror images of her nearby.

You see Stormyrain Ta'Ska'Na the Captain of the Wehnimer's Landing Militia.

She appears to be a Sylvankind.

She is average height. She appears to be mature. She has tempestuous silver-flecked dark amethyst eyes and flawless ivory skin. She has lustrous, wispy locks of pale silver hair gathered into a loose top knot and skewered with a pair of nacre-tipped driftwood hairsticks. She has a heart-shaped face, a classical nose and high cheekbones. She has onyx-lined eahnor red lacquer brushed onto her sharply filed fingernails.

She has a tattoo of a white skull on a field of black on her neck, a black widow tattoo on her finger, a twisted vine of black thorns tattoo twining around her right wrist, a rune-etched dark bloodjewel half-ring in her left eyebrow, a series of interwoven sanguine runes winding across the back of her hands, and a tattooed silvery sailboat flying a black flag on her arm.

She is in good shape.

She is wearing a sanguine translucent crystal, a high-collared black leather duster with silver cog-shaped buttons, a cinched hourglass black leather corset, a twilight grey gossamer silk tunic, some ash grey twill pants, and some ebon-hued silver-buckled boots.

Cryheart says, "Hmmmm."

Meureii says, "She just won't go away..."

Speaking to Meureii, Stormyrain says, "I'm standing right here."

Cruxophim noncommittally murmurs, "Hmm."

Speaking to Meureii, Stormyrain says, "I can hear you."

Cruxophim bemusedly mouths, "Ahh, Angry Future Stormy."

Balley closes her eyes and chants quietly under her breath.

Goldstr exclaims, "Ware da AFS!"

Balley gazes into her silver scrying bowl, her expression growing blank and eyes unfocused. After a short while she blinks a few times and seems to be aware of her surroundings again.

Speaking to Cruxophim, Stormyrain asks, "What makes you think the person is angry?"

Florania quietly says, "Doesn't seem too angry..."

Speaking wryly to Stormyrain, Cruxophim mutters, "Well, I doubt you've calmed in your old age."

Cryheart asks, "Sooo...what are ye going to cast?"

Cryheart grins at Stormyrain.

Cryheart asks, "Is this the past or future?"

Balley takes a deep breath.

Balley slowly empties her lungs.

Speaking to Cryheart, Stormyrain says, "I have never been in a place like that and tried to reach out to Balley with my sight. I would say future given that."

Speaking pragmatically to Cryheart, Cruxophim reasons, "If she does not recognize the scene of her own past, I would presume the future."

Tolida slowly says, "She is by herself in that image... or maybe not? Hard to tell."

Balley closes her eyes for a moment.

Speaking to Tolida, Stormyrain murmurs, "Seems it, and if the last vision that resembled this was also me--I was alone then too."

Balley recites softly:

"Within the dark lands, the robed figure pauses on her path towards you. Her eyes lower and brim slightly with tears. She suddenly kneels, rubbing her hand along a formation of ash and dirt. Soon, she has scrapped away enough debris to reveal the top of a smooth granite headstone. You can barely make out the etching along the grave. "....115. May He Kn..." The robed woman kneels beside it in silence for a few long moments."

Tiny images flash within Balley's eyes.

Balley closes her eyes for a moment.

Balley takes a deep breath.

Balley slowly empties her lungs.

Balley gazes into her silver scrying bowl, her expression growing blank and eyes unfocused. After a short while she blinks a few times and seems to be aware of her surroundings again.

Zosopage says, "I wonder who that gravestone was....."

Stormyrain murmurs, "Walkar's."

Shinann says, "Which means."

Balley closes her eyes for a moment.

Goldstr says, "If was 5115 dem dat bout right Walkar."

Florania slowly concludes, "Which means what?"

Stormyrain slowly says, "That we are seeing the Landing."

Stormyrain slowly says, "Sometime in the future."

Speaking absently to Goldstr, Cruxophim murmurs, "Was considering that."

Zosopage asks, "The question is how far into the future?"

Speaking thoughtfully to Stormyrain, Cruxophim ventures, "Perhaps it's not the future at all, but an alternative timeline of a recent past."

Tolida slowly says, "Regardless, it is still disturbing."

Shinann says, "Or future."

Florania tentatively speculates, "A vision of a future is--only a possible future, yes? Preventable?"

Stormyrain walks toward Balley.

Speaking to Cruxophim, Zosopage says, "Oh not a time Crux, please."

Meureii curiously asks, "Does everyone believe everything they see in smoke and mirrors?"

Speaking to Balley, Stormyrain murmurs, "Mind if I try something?"

Balley nods.

Balley blinks.

Speaking wryly to Meureii, Cruxophim agrees, "I'm not inclined to, no."

Speaking to Balley, Stormyrain asks, "Was that a yes, go ahead, or please don't because this is already too much?"

Meureii amusedly says, "With events that have transpired I would suggest that these visions are not from..."

More wisps of light seep across Balley's vision.

Balley closes her eyes for a moment.

Speaking to Stormyrain, Meureii says, "Your Lord."

Balley recites softly:

"The woman rises slowly, her tattered robe matching the bleak sky and earth behind and below her. She continues her path to you, carefully stepping over blemishes in the dirt. She passes through the blackened remnants of a circular building, with only fragments of a marble portico remaining."

Speaking to Meureii, Stormyrain says, "I would disagree."

Balley softly says, "You may proceed Stormy."

Balley takes a deep breath.

Stormyrain rests a gentle hand on Balley's arm.

Balley slowly empties her lungs.

Balley closes her eyes for a moment.

Stormyrain closes her eyes for a moment.

Balley gazes into her silver scrying bowl, her expression growing blank and eyes unfocused. After a short while she blinks a few times and seems to be aware of her surroundings again.

Speaking to himself, Hlendril mutters, "Wonder when I`ll take on Divination..."

Speaking to Hlendril, Lauranathalasa says, "It is a blessing and a curse."

A shimmer of light flashes in Balley's eyes then vanishes.

Balley closes her eyes for a moment.

Balley recites softly:

"The woman finally approaches you, her form having almost faded now as she got closer, more spectral than flesh. She touches a slender finger to your forehead and her voice whispers in your mind, "Kill the paragon. Then the rest." With that, the vision fades."

Speaking quietly to Hlendril, Hapenlok says, "If you're not prepared for it, you'll go insane."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Meureii asks, "What say you now?"

Florania confusedly repeats, "Paragon?"

Speaking to Hapenlok, Hlendril says, "I have been getting some visions meself.. At times."

Speaking to Hlendril, Zosopage asks, "Mushroom flashbacks?"

Balley shivers.

Florania quietly opines, "That's a very vague order."

Balley closes her eyes for a moment.

Hlendril says, "I...."

Balley takes a deep breath.

Speaking to Meureii, Stormyrain says, "I do not think this is Stone if that's what you are asking."

Balley slowly empties her lungs.

Speaking to Stormyrain, Meureii says, "I am not or I would have."

Goldstr says, "Maybe Stone da Paragon."

Speaking to Goldstr, Hapenlok says, "That would be convenient. And possibly a bit too obvious."

Speaking to Balley, Stormyrain asks, "You should get some tea, and food. Are you alright?"

Speaking absently to Stormyrain, Cruxophim agrees, "Nor do I."

Zosopage says, "Praxopius Paragon...."

Balley blinks.

Cruxophim's eyes cloud over with dark shadows as he prepares a spell...

There is a bright flash and a bacon-wrapped blood pudding donut appears in the air, then falls into Cruxophim's left hand.

Cruxophim offers Balley a bacon-wrapped blood pudding donut.

Balley softly says, "I am confused."

Balley accepts Cruxophim's blood pudding donut.

Balley takes a bite of her blood pudding donut.

Balley looks much more calm and refreshed.

Balley softly says, "I know not of what I saw."

Balley takes a bite of her blood pudding donut.

Balley takes a bite of her blood pudding donut.

Balley takes a bite of her blood pudding donut.

Balley takes a bite of her blood pudding donut.

Speaking to Balley, Stormyrain says, "What does your intuition tell you? And for the gods don't eat that."

Speaking confusedly to Balley, Meureii says, "Ingesting of blood is surely nae a way to gain clarity."

Cruxophim rhetorically muses, "Like most visions, it was more evocative than informative."

Balley softly says, "I am not sure of what I see or what it means."

Balley softly says, "I wish I had clarity."

Cruxophim dryly scolds, "She's fine. The donut will help. Koar, you people worry about the silliest things."

Cryheart says, "Impending doom perhaps."

Balley softly says, "I am feeling foggy and confused."

Speaking gently to Balley, Cruxophim suggests, "It's a lot to channel at once. You did well."

Shinann says, "That grave is beside the temple."

Balley softly asks, "Can someone take me there?"

Balley softly says, "I need to see."

Speaking to Balley, Hlendril says, "Me."

Goldstr says, "Good idea."

Balley softly says, "I need to understand."

Speaking to Zosopage, Stormyrain says, "She should have some of the sylvan tea tonight for sure. A cup before bed and a cup by the bedside."

Speaking curiously to Stormyrain, Cruxophim notes, "Colson's grave says "May He Join His Son in Peace."."

Speaking to Zosopage, Stormyrain continues, "She will need a light breakfast in the morning."

Balley takes a deep breath.

Balley slowly empties her lungs.

Balley closes her eyes for a moment.

Speaking knowingly to Balley, Meureii says, "In time."

Balley gets out a flask and pours the water from her silver scrying bowl into it and then puts the flask away.

Balley put a bright silver scrying bowl in her ivory gossamer pelisse.

Speaking to Balley, Hlendril asks, "Still need to go there?"

Balley shrugs.

Speaking to Hlendril, Zosopage says, "I can take her there."

Florania quietly says, "It is not far..."

Balley softly says, "I know not of what I need at this moment."

Speaking to Zosopage, Hlendril says, "Okay..."

Balley softly says, "Or where I shall go."

Speaking suddenly to Stormyrain, Cruxophim inquires, "Have you ever... projected?"

Cryheart says, "Perhaps rest."

Cryheart says, "To recover first."

Speaking gently to Balley, Cruxophim suggests, "Just rest, and to focus."

Hapenlok says, "See, the problem with visions, is that they're rarely simple and straight forward as everyone would like. On the surface of it, it appears that some future is so bleak for us, that apparently a man...or woman must die. apparently."

Balley gulps.

Hapenlok says, "These kinds of things are enough to drive one mad, so glad I'm not the one receiving these visions. I'm somewhat sane lately."

Cryheart says, "Good evening all."

Balley nods.

Cryheart says, "Rest well."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Stormyrain says, "..not without aid, but Sarvia and I do use scrying pools to converse."

Speaking to Balley, Zosopage says, "Should take you and get you a full set of spells." [as a Dreavening was set to happen in ten minutes]

Balley nods.

Speaking to Zosopage, Hapenlok says, "WAIT."

[Hapenlok begins spelling up Balley]

Balley nods.

Balley takes a deep breath.

Zosopage says, "Thank you."

Hapenlok says, "Okay, done. Not doing blurs, though. I don't want to have to share with everyone."

Speaking thoughtfully to Stormyrain, Cruxophim speculates, "Is it possible that that is a you projecting into some time in the past? Perhaps it was 4115, not 5115... or even further back? Just... in theory."

Hapenlok says, "I can't stand most of these people."

Goldstr says, "Ye folks take care now."

Stormyrain says, "Shinann says she is at Walkar's grave and she confirms it is a match for what we saw."

Speaking quietly to Hapenlok, Florania says, "Oh, we know."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Meureii says, "Undoubtedly."

Balley softly asks, "Can we go see?"

Zosopage nods at Balley.

Speaking to Cruxophim, Stormyrain asks, "I have never known the Landing to look that way?"

Zosopage's group just went through a varnished modwir door.

Speaking to Cruxophim, Hapenlok says, "Nope. don't need it. I'm completely stuffed."

Stormyrain says, "-and Walkar's grave seems to indicate that it would have to have been after his death, to me."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Hapenlok adds, "With food."

Shinann just came through a varnished modwir door.

Speaking wryly to Stormyrain, Cruxophim admits, "I'm just throwing out theories, that seems to be in vogue."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Shinann asks, "Did he take her?"

Over at the Graveyard...

[Temple, Graveyard]

A small group of people stands around a newly-covered grave here in the Temple's shadow. A priest, dressed in solemn clothing, leads the people in a soft song. While the key is minor, the words rejoice that the departed one now rests beyond the hardships of life, safe within Lorminstra's grasp. You also see the Balley disk, a small grey tombstone, a row of small stone markers and a smooth granite headstone with a deep purple violet on it.

I>unhide

You are visible again.

You give Balley a strong, encouraging smile.

Suddenly you have the strangest feeling that you are being watched.

The feeling fades as quickly as it came.

Zosopage gives you a friendly hug.

You warmly request, "My friend... if you see any more visions when I'm not around, do please let me know?"

You hurriedly add, "I saw everything tonight, of course."

Zosopage nods to you.

You hug Balley, who wraps you in a warm embrace.

You give Zosopage a friendly hug.

Zosopage gives you a friendly hug.

Balley nods.

You idly say, "I was there--I'm always there."

You grin mischievously.

Zosopage grins at you.

You say, "When I thought you might be seeing the Bleaklands, I thought maybe a vision of Raznel..."

You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs.

Balley softly says, "Me too."

You say, "But if it's the Landing's future... that's something else completely."

You nod at Balley.

You have a sudden and lingering feeling that you are being watched.

Balley softly says, "I feel I am supposed to be here."

Zosopage says, "Apparently it was Stormy."

Zosopage nods.

You frankly confide, "I'm much more concerned about Raznel than a distant future, but we'll see."

Speaking to Zosopage, you say, "I know... I'm following."

You chuckle.

Zosopage grins.

You amusedly remind, "I am, after all, your local reporter."

You flash a wide grin.

You turn to give Balley a quick smooch, and she surprises you with a warm buss on the lips!

You warmly say, "I'll see you both around."
