Lost Palestra (storyline)/2026-01-05 - Moravius' Heart Grows Three Shades Lighter (log)
Synopsis
There was an invasion of shadowy Ithzir where they were making targeted attacks at various locations including inside Helga's. There was a lot of death at the town well due to Sympathy being cast by the Ithzir. There was also a flood of writhing black shadows, which drained mana, inflicted cold, and caused dispels. The fighting was largely concentrated around the core of town. Harrower Moravius Faendryl made a comment on the ESP that it would be more useful for his data if adventurers could get killed in a wider range of places.
Xorus reanimated an Ithzir omenbearer. After some discussion in Town Square Central, adventurers decided to bring the reanimated Ithzir to the encampment at Lake Eonak, as Harrower Vortelis and Thagoria both previously expressed interest in capturing specimens. The Faendryl at the encampment secured the animated Ithzir for "struggling dissection." The goal is to understand to what extent they are Ithzir or shadow entities derived from Ithzir.
Adventurers questioned Moravius for some time, who was bemused at why a random crowd was speaking to him, much less demanding answers from him. He said their deaths are not strictly necessary, just convenient, as he was trying to triangulate the source of the Ithzir to totally prove it is the Shadows valence and not some other realm. There was questioning of why they would bother coming here to feed. Moravius said they have not ascertained yet what is antagonizing the mana storm of the Reach that is allowing them entry to our "juicy mana." When asked how he could be assisted, Moravius said Vortelis will probably want more hazy tenebrous orbs, and that he will need assistance in the Bleaklands later. He said that Vortelis is nearly finished studying Aralyte's soulstone.
Moravius also mentioned that Vortelis is interested in the bleakstone statue of Lylia currently in the Bleaklands. Adventurers brought up capturing one of the shadows entities, using light and mirrors to box it in, where the Harrowers already have a shadowglass monolith in their encampment for capturing them. Moravius said that could work. Viselda and Quintus made small talk.

Invasion
Glistening flakes of snow fall gently from the sky. [Help] The ghost of Arelder: "So... invasion in the Landing." [Help] Sythana: "Really? Oh, no!" [Help] Drizdark: "Of what?" [Help] Jodium: "Ut oh, who upset the GMs." [Help] The ghost of Arelder: "'A shadowy ithzir omenbearer is buffeted by the white-gold cloud, but is unaffected.'." [Help] Duffield: "The death of news." [Help] The ghost of Arelder: "I have a full mind... any chance of a rescue?" [Help] Duffield: "Can this saga be called OTFOTB." [Help] Borstin: "TSC still safe?" [Help] The ghost of Arelder: "Ah, appears to be. I'm in TSC." [Help] Swampwort: "Not sure I trust this guy haha." [General] Leafiara asks, "Where are the battlefronts?" [General] Leafiara asks, "...if any?" [General] Kayse thinks, "I have not seen any activity." [Help] The ghost of Arelder: "Seems to be random. I was in the small park resting." [General] Leafiara asks, "So... are the apples... doing something?" [General] Leafiara thinks, "I've found a dead Newsby surrounded by a bunch of them." [General] Monthas asks, "Bunch of "them"? What them?" [General] Lylia thinks, "Serene was in Helga's tavern and was slain here." [General] Leafiara thinks, "Apples." [General] Arissiya exclaims, "They killed newsby!" [General] Tearieyes asks, ".....apples?" [General] Leafiara thinks, "No, I'm not jumping to that conclusion yet. That's why I'm asking if the apples are doing something." [General] Thrassus thinks, "The lake is quiet." [General] Leafiara asks, "In other words, what's the cause of the sudden burst of deaths?" [General] Monthas asks, "An apple a day keeps Newsby away?" [General] Tearieyes thinks, "I suppose if enough fell on your head..." [Help] Xanthirra: "Can we get an empath to TSC please?" [General] Tallifyr exclaims, "Those dastards!" [General] Sansoni thinks, "I sense much low haning fruit." [General] Kayse thinks, "Some claimed Ithzir but I haven't seen large forces or even a single one." [General] Skulligei thinks, "We do have snow." [General] Bilfords asks, "Did Newsby say what happened?" [General] Kayse thinks, "Yes, snow happens this time of year. It's winter." [General] Kayse thinks, "The gates are clear." [General] Rhegnar thinks, "Ive encountered the ithzir around the well." [Town Well] The old well is made of flat stones built up around a circular opening. A slate roof overhangs the opening, keeping the drinking water clear and refreshing. Several skin water buckets, with long ropes attached, are scattered on the hard-packed earth surrounding the well. You also see a short smoky blue abyran'sa, a thin shadowy Ithziir augur and the Rhegnar disk. Also here: Raelee, Triggers, Monthas, Whimweaver Leafiara, Aenternoll, Emissary Thrassus who is invisible, Xorus, Imperatrix Lylia, a stunned Kayse, a stunned Rhegnar who is lying down Obvious paths: northeast, south, northwest [General] Tearieyes thinks, "Whoa." [General] Duffield thinks, "Heh." [General] Tearieyes asks, "What's going on at that well??" [Help] Nevire: "Well is not safe." [Help] Tierus: "Oh, look, the predictable consequences of Wehnimerian choices." [Help] Xamara: "Do you lose your RPA orb if your lumnis resets in 4 hours?" [Help] The ghost of Monthas: "A whole bunch in the well." [Help] Duffield: "No - unrelated." [General] Tierus asks, "Why am I coming to help?" [General] Leafiara thinks, "Perhaps only you can answer that." [General] Tierus thinks, "I've taken a few hits to the head lately. It must be that. Soon, I'll want to join House Arcane." [General] Tierus thinks, "...it would have to be many more hits." [General] Sansoni thinks, "This apple looks pretty lustrous." [General] The ghost of Serene thinks, "Even Helgas isn't safe.. Stupid invasions." [Help] Arelder: "What level are they?" [Help] Duffield: "All the levels." [Help] Villhelm: "Seriously there is an invasion?" [Help] Nairdin: "Sort...of?" [Help] Serene: "They materialize from the shadows just about anywhere and attack you. The oathtaker that took me out at Helgas was way strong." [General] Duffield asks, "Why is there an apple on a pedestal? Is this art?" [Help] Nairdin: "I got attacked by somethin at moot hall that immediately came in and made me fight for it." [Help] Nairdin: "Nobody else was around thankfully." [Help] The ghost of Xanthirra: "There sure is, hah." [General] Skulligei thinks, "More shadows near the well." [Help] Kyrandos: "Should lower levels stay away from town?" [Help] Leafiara: "Under the current circumstances, probably." [Help] Kyrandos: "Your loss, I could solo most invasions." [General] Sansoni thinks, "Wow that went from calm to insanity in no time at all. I was just trying to raise folks. Dont go into the well haha." [Help] Nairdin: "These things are sneaky." [Help] Nairdin: "Draining mana." [General] Tierus thinks, "As usual, they've fled at my approach. You're welcome." [Help] Monthas: "Was there always a pedastle with a black apple on it in town?" [Help] Nairdin: "Grab one..." [Help] Nairdin: "Or a few." [Town Square, East] Here in the center of a broad plaza near the commercial area of the bazaar stands the impressive facade of the slate-roofed Moot Hall, where the citizens of Wehnimer's Landing hold various official, religious and social functions. Facing the square are some of the town's more prosperous shops, still doing business with the many customers who still frequent the streets at night. You also see a muscular shadowy Ithzir oathguard, a muscular shadowy Ithzir oathguard, a muscular shadowy Ithzir oathguard, a spiral-hafted handaxe, a muscular shadowy Ithzir oathguard, a mass of writhing black shadows, a shadowy ithzir omenbearer, a shadowy ithzir omenbearer, a shadowy ithzir omenbearer, a shadowy ithzir omenbearer, a huge dark wagon with a glowing blue-white pylon on it, a large purple wooden barrel, a wood-framed message board and a dark green wreath with Imaera's lace hanging from the doors of Moot Hall. Also here: Tierus who is lying down, Magister Raelee who is lying down, the body of Skulligei who is lying down Obvious paths: north, east, south, west [Help] Monthas: "TSNW." [General] Sansoni thinks, "This was my first invasion and I'm not sure exactly how I died." [Help] The ghost of Monthas: "Stun locked bellows is some BS." [General] Tovaris thinks, "Thats pretty standard." [General] Benidiction thinks, "Your Enthrales became your Exthrales." [Help] Kyrandos: "Where are healers posted up?" [Help] Tovaris: "Tsc." [Help] Kyrandos: "Is it safe?" [Help] Tovaris: "Tes." [Help] Kyrandos: "Is it worth getting on the rooftops to fight?" [Help] Leafiara: "Actually not certain of that for once since the battles seem to be very localized to the west side of town..." [Help] Arissiya: "A west side invasion story." [Help] Kyrandos: "Im on top of the raging thrak inn." [Help] Arissiya: "Once your a thrak your a thrak all your life." [General] Mystiq thinks, "They are a long way from home." [Help] Duffield: "I like to be in Elanthia; OK by me in Elanthia! Everything free in Elanthia... for a small fee in Elanthia." [General] Lylia thinks, "They are, if indeed they are Ithzir. I am not so certain." [Help] Drizdark: "Seems clear." [General] Mystiq thinks, "Could be someones new creation." [Realm] Earthdiver thinks, "They do not seem to be sending their best and brightest." [General] Moravius thinks, "If you could all be killed in a wider range of places, it would be more useful for my work." [General] Lylia thinks, "Believe me, it is not by my own choosing."
Reanimated Ithzir Omenbearer
Xorus had reanimated an Ithzir omenbearer during the fighting and brought it to Town Square Central. Nothing that happened from this point onward was planned for the invasion night.
[Town Square Central] This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the Mystiq disk, the glossy pink Nyaria disk shaped like a jellyfish, a timber snowcat, a glinting stygian scarab beetle that is flying around, the woven brass Drizdark disk, the Sevum disk, the lichenous Earthdiver disk sprouting shelf fungus, a vacillating luck spirit that is flying around, a battered antique faewood crate, a sleek red fox with white-crested ears, a white-masked reddish brown puppy with high triangular ears, a lithe midnight black fox with a white-tipped tail, a pale-faced coppery barn owl, the Creshenda disk, a depressed mountain spirit that is flying around, some ambrominas leaf, the Seraska disk, some acantha leaf, some haphip root, the Dileta disk, some aloeas stem, some aloeas stem, some calamia fruit, some aloeas stem, some calamia fruit, some haphip root, some aloeas stem, some pothinir grass, some aloeas stem, some haphip root, some pothinir grass, some chewed-up torban leaf, some wolifrew lichen, some acantha leaf, some acantha leaf, some wolifrew lichen, the crab-shaped Krampton disk, the Holoni disk, a tiny pocket mouse, some acantha leaf, some torban leaf, some calamia fruit, some torban leaf, some torban leaf, some aloeas stem, some calamia fruit, some acantha leaf, some calamia fruit, some woth flower, some woth flower, some acantha leaf, some torban leaf, some torban leaf, some wolifrew lichen, some wolifrew lichen, some woth flower, some torban leaf, a mistwood serving cart with some stuff on it, a trail of aster-wreathed silver hedgehogs leading southwest, a round silver-banded barrel, an herbal remedy donation bin and some wide stone benches with some stuff on it. Also here: Emissary Thrassus, Xorus, Imperatrix Lylia, Mirsodron who is lying down, Sythana, Lady Nyaria, Lady Mystiq, Lord Kristun who is sitting, Drizdark, Lady Sevum, Timurex, Tierus, Magister Raelee, Harbenjer, Tearieyes, Earthdiver, Whimweaver Leafiara, Anquon, Conquerer of Reim Nairdin, Cleode, Korelon, Morsin who is sitting, Unax, Great Lady Creshenda, Lrakfoeg, Steelfang who is lying down, Lord Tovaris, Lady Seraska, Krampton, High Lady Holoni, Osvaldo who is lying down, Dileta, Lord Ahseetah Obvious paths: northeast, east, southeast, southwest, west, northwest >desc omenbearer The omenbearer appears to be an animated corpse. A trio of black tattooed stripes run from center of the Ithzir omenbearer's forehead and over the crown of her bald, blue-skinned head. The Ithzir omenbearer is slightly taller than a human, and while her humanoid form is similar to scores of other races, the hairless, blue body is nonetheless alien in its appearance. The omenbearer wears a fine silvery-blue tunic crossed with a green tabard. Leafiara exclaims, "This is the advancement of knowledge we're talking about!" Leafiara nods sagely. Lylia nods to the Ithzir omenbearer. Speaking to Raelee, Tierus says, "Just subtle enough that it will slowly drive them mad wondering--" Tovaris removes a pastel-hued wintersbite pearl from in his heavy backpack. An animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer starts singing an alien song in a reverberating, sonorous voice. Tierus glances at an animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer. Speaking to Tierus, Raelee says, "That would take some research. Such a spell is not precisely in my arsenal." Speaking to Tierus, Leafiara whispers aloud, "Okay, I think I converted it to Raelee-speak." Tierus nods at Leafiara. Thrassus raises an eyebrow. Tearieyes softly says, "Hmmm." Speaking to Leafiara, Tierus mouths, "Good job." Leafiara preens. Thrassus says, "Well, that is useful I suppose." Speaking to Leafiara, Raelee says, "That is... technically correct..." Leafiara looks at Raelee and breaks into a cheeky grin. Tierus says, "Now then." Seraska says, "This was my first time helping during the defense." Seraska says, "And I don't think I did too badly..." Lylia assures, "All well under control." Tierus asks, "Is this animated Ithzir capable of any independent thought at all?" Tearieyes frowns at an animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer. Skulligei raises an eyebrow. Seraska asks, "So what were those things?" Leafiara says, "I think one of the Faendryl visitors did ask to try and capture one, so this is good." Leafiara glances at an animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer. Xorus says, "I could press it for answers, by which I mean, I could make it explode." Lylia snaps her fingers. Speaking to Xorus, Tierus asks, "How many answers would come out of it first?" Skulligei raspily says, "Very inrteresting." Xorus says, "It depends on if the explosion is considered an answer." Leafiara nods knowingly. Tearieyes softly says, "Something doesn't seem right." Speaking to Seraska, Lylia says, "They are shadows. Or Ithzir. Or shadowy Ithzir. Tearieyes is quite correct; they do not seem quite right." Speaking softly to Lylia, Mystiq says, "Or puppets." An animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer sneers as she says, "Ptath lethekke on munarop vasse naan!" The Ithzir omenbearer grins at Kerensia. Leafiara takes a moment to observe an animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer. An animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer runs a hand along one of the tattoos on her head. Lylia snickers at Tierus. Skulligei raspily says, "Where'd that harrower run off to? he isn't out at the lake." Speaking to an animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer, Kerensia says, "Don't grin at me. I wasn't bothering you." Speaking to Lylia, Seraska says, "I was lucky. I just walked right into town with no trouble." Tierus glances at an animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer. Skulligei takes a moment to observe an animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer. Tierus asks, "He wants to put cake on his nan?" Speaking to Skulligei, Lylia asks, "Harrower? Moravius?" Skulligei squints at an animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer. Skulligei nods at Lylia. Skulligei raspily says, "He was there a few minutes ago......" Lylia says, "He may have wandered away from the lake's shores. We could go and see." Skulligei rubs his chin thoughtfully. Lylia says, "Sometimes people need to step away for a snack." Lylia looks thoughtful for a moment, then shrugs. Lylia says, "Off we go, then." Earthdiver joins Lylia's group. Skulligei joins Lylia's group. Leafiara joins Lylia's group. Tearieyes joins Lylia's group. Raelee joins Lylia's group. Speaking to Lylia, Tierus asks, "Who are we seeking?" Tierus joins Lylia's group. Lylia beckons Tierus toward her with a fancy flourish of the hand. Morsin joins Lylia's group. Speaking to Tierus, Thrassus says, "Research group." Tierus nods at Thrassus. Lylia says, "Harrower Moravius. I have no idea if we shall find him. Harrowers are notoriously challenging to pinpoint." Mystiq joins Lylia's group. Lylia says, "All together, then? Excellent." Mystiq glances around the area. Lylia nods once. Lylia winks at Mystiq. Speaking to Thrassus, Tierus asks, "Not the nonsense one with the terrible taste in vruulskin, right?" Nyaria joins Lylia's group. The fire wyrdling chuckles. Thrassus shrugs at Tierus. Imperatrix Lylia's group just went west. (traveling to Lake Eonak)
Bringing Ithzir to Faendryl Encampment
The following are ambients that were firing off at Lake Eonak. Most cases of them have been scrubbed from the log. Players were occasionally reacting to them.
A few robed Faendryl toss a mysterious orb over the lake, which suspends mid-air, then shoots up into the storm out of sight. One of them tears open a rift and disappears through it. Shadows in the surface of the lake pulse with dark crimson light, for a moment vaguely resembling an otherworldly landscape in its depths. There is a flickering and faint image of an ancient granite monolith. The mists surrounding it suddenly thicken and swirl about in a twisting spiral. You squint to try and see into it, but have to step back to avoid getting bowled over by a Harrower who steps through from the other side. Some dark elven surveyors come out of a jagged tear in space near the base of the mountain, one of them saying this thing should have its own Shieltine's Ward. Another sorcerer walks over and speaks to Harrower Moravius, gesturing at the lake and storm, making adjustments to his twisted faenor headband. Near the lake there is a dim but bloody glow from a faint wound in reality. There is a Faendryl cartographer next to it fiddling with a complicated astrolabe, making sketches onto an incomprehensible map. One of the Harrowers jumps into a shadowy patch of the lake, dropping out of sight without any disturbance of the water.
The Basilican praetorian guard here is Quintus Faendryl. The praetorian guards were changed afterwards to display their names.
[Melgorehn's Reach, Lake Eonak] You are on the bank of a beautiful mountain lake that is fed by a waterfall gushing from the mountain side. There is a path which seems to actually lead up the side of the mountain. You also see Harrower Moravius, a shielded worker encampment, a cedar chip path, a barely visible trail leading into a grove of ancient trees, an enormous blue crystal monolith, a Basilican praetorian guard and Palestra Blade Viselda. Obvious paths: southwest >look encampment Between the lake and mountain is an encampment with numerous dark elven sorcerers and workers in varied clothing. The worktables are covered in atlases with strange cartography and unfamiliar equipment, including quasi-spheres, pulsing trapezohedrons, head gear fixtures, chalks and runebooks, some kind of monolith of shadowglass, and what resembles astrolabes but phasing in and out of reality. The site is covered in a nearly transparent warding shield. Imperatrix Lylia's group just arrived. Lylia nods to Moravius. Mystiq nods slightly with a half-smile at some untold fortune. An animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer starts singing an alien song in a reverberating, sonorous voice. Harrower Moravius nods. Skulligei squints at Harrower Moravius. Leafiara observes her surroundings with a keen eye. Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Tierus says, "Not vruulskin. Thank the Sorrower." Harrower Moravius says, "You could have died in more places. It would have helped with triangulation." Leafiara says, "They weren't spread around particularly much." Leafiara chuckles. Mystiq arches a skeptical eyebrow as she takes in her surroundings. Speaking to Tierus, Lylia says, "You must mean Xociral." (Tierus's lip curls.) Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "Yes." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Lylia says, "They used Sympathy. It tended to bunch us up." Harrower Moravius says, "Ah. Well. Perhaps they will kill more of you next time." Thrassus says, "They were manifesting in a much smaller pattern this time around." Skulligei takes a moment to observe Harrower Moravius. Lylia narrows her eyes. Mystiq glances around the area. Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "I don't like most of our people. I despise the ones who make us look bad." Mystiq arches one eyebrow at Lylia in an expression of sardonic amusement. Leafiara gazes in amusement at her surroundings. Harrower Moravius points at an animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer. Lylia nods at Tierus. Speaking skeptically to Tierus, Raelee asks, "... which ones do you like?" Harrower Moravius says, "You. Come here." Tierus furtively glances at Mystiq. Speaking to Tierus, Lylia murmurs, "I have my thoughts on that." Morsin arches one eyebrow at Tierus in an expression of sardonic amusement. Raelee takes a moment to observe an animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer. Leafiara glances between Harrower Moravius and an animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer. An animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer cocks her head as if listening to a faint sound, then nods and utters an unintelligible response. Speaking to Raelee, Tierus says, "There's a dashing fellow I see in the mirror most mornings." Mystiq cocks her head at Tierus. Speaking to Tierus, Raelee says, "Yes, that makes sense." Skulligei raspily asks, "That thing spoke earlier...is that normal?" Skulligei glances at an animated shadowy Ithzir omenbearer and rubs his chin thoughtfully. Thrassus nods at Skulligei. Speaking to Xorus, Lylia says, "I really need to work on my necromancy." Skulligei nods at Thrassus. Tierus says, "It said something about cake and its grandmother." Tierus nods firmly. Speaking to Skulligei, Lylia says, "Yes. They speak Ithziri, typically." Leafiara says, "They have their own language, so yes." Thrassus says, "They are intelligent and have a culture of thier own." Speaking to Leafiara, Tierus says, "Oh. Assertion redacted." A few robed Faendryl gesture and the Ithzir omenbearer animate is bound in crimson bands. It is dragged inside the encampment. Thrassus nods with satisfaction. Leafiara gives an approval gesture with her hand. Skulligei rubs his chin thoughtfully. Lylia says, "I hope the delivery of one in a reasonable state of preservation more than compensates for not having died in a satisfactory pattern." Harrower Moravius says, "It is not quite living, so I cannot vivisect it." Harrower Moravius says, "But a struggling dissection will suffice for now." Tearieyes's face turns slightly pale. Leafiara nods approvingly. Thrassus says, "Its mind is rather defenseless though." Lylia inclines her head. Harrower Moravius says, "Vortelis wishes to capture one of the shadow masses, but this will prove useful as a comparative." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Tierus says, "Surgery is certainly more fun on the living, but it's only recently dead." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Raelee asks, "What are your plans for analysis?" Skulligei focuses all of his attention on his vellum, writing carefully with his quill. Satisfied, he considers what he's written. Skulligei raspily asks, "A dissection?" Skulligei rubs his chin thoughtfully. Tierus nods at Skulligei. Tearieyes frowns. Leafiara ponders. Harrower Moravius says, "We will have to see if it is mutated, or if somehow it is only an imitating incarnation." Thrassus says, "They will likely wish to compare what they find with the research done on 'normal' Ithzir." Skulligei agrees with Harrower Moravius. Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Earthdiver asks, "How will you know?" Harrower Moravius nods at Thrassus. Lylia says, "It was our aim to capture one." She smiles and adds with subtly pointed emphasis, "I trust you will learn much, and that when you do, we may learn more ourselves." Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "I'm surprised there aren't any survivors in town. They do seem to flee when badly injured." Skulligei glances at a sheet of smoke-striated vellum in his hand. Harrower Moravius says, "Well. One would be an Ithzir, the other would be a form resembling an Ithzir." Lylia nods at Tierus. Earthdiver surreptitiously glances at Harrower Moravius. Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Tierus asks, "Would the latter know how to speak their blighted tongue?" Lylia looks like she was about to say something to Earthdiver, but she hesitates, obviously having changed her mind. Skulligei folds shut his vellum. Speaking softly to Tierus, Mystiq says, "There maybe one or two hidding." Skulligei put a sheet of smoke-striated vellum in his black direwolf knee-boots. Lylia nods at Mystiq. Harrower Moravius says, "That does seem unlikely." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Tierus says, "After all, I don't think that they're handing out Ithzir dictionaries left and right." Tierus whispers something to Raelee. Lylia says, "Shadows can counterfeit much about a person. But not everything." Tierus looks thoughtfully at Lylia. Lylia whispers something to Xorus. Harrower Moravius says, "From what little I have learned so far of this place, there were doppelgangers in the Bleaklands who knew much. But there were host bodies associated with them." Raelee gives a sidelong glance at Tierus. Leafiara nods absently. Lylia thoughtfully says, "Thadston Andrews spoke Faendryl after being taken by the Ithzir and held for weeks."
Triangulation
Robot Viselda was also repeating an ambient about Dracovir. Only non-automated text is being bolded in this log.
Harrower Moravius says, "In any event, I was more focused on trying to discern where they were coming from, but it was incomplete data." Viselda warns, "Dracovir is as ruthless as he is cunning. You do not become Prefect of the Palestra without being cold blooded. Aralyte better have her house in order." Leafiara nods slowly to Moravius. Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "Ours is not exactly a simple tongue. Especially for a--" Tierus glances at Raelee. Skulligei raspily says, "Interesting...." Earthdiver says, "Perhaps one can be caught and released...and tracked." Speaking carefully to Lylia, Tierus says, "Person unfamiliar with our culture." Mystiq turns an ear to the side, listening intently to the surroundings. Raelee squints at Tierus. Tearieyes glances uneasily at Palestra Blade Viselda. Mystiq whispers something to Lylia. Speaking in Elven to Tierus, Raelee says, "... give me time, Tierus." Speaking to Tierus, Lylia says, "Just so. But it makes me think about what might happen with the Ithzir and the shadows in connection with one another." Speaking softly to Earthdiver, Tearieyes says, "Good idea." Speaking to Earthdiver, Leafiara says, "Not a bad idea, but so far they don't seem to leave once they've begun attacking. It's a battle to the death." Lylia nods at Mystiq. Thrassus says, "It made talking about him in front of him rather challenging." Speaking to Raelee, Tierus asks, "There are a lot of plosives, and that thing where your tongue goes into the back of your throat--it's a difficult tongue to speak, all right?" Skulligei agrees with Leafiara. Thrassus leans against his black staff as he takes in his surroundings. Leafiara says, "I wonder what it would take to force one to retreat." (Tierus makes a gurgling sound as if to demonstrate.) Speaking to Tierus, Raelee repeats, "Time." Speaking to Mystiq, Lylia murmurs, "Exactly. The veil is thin here. It is why we are seeing so many, and why the Basilican contingent is here." Speaking in Elven, Tierus says, "I suppose." Shadows in the surface of the lake pulse with dark crimson light, for a moment vaguely resembling an otherworldly landscape in its depths. Skulligei raspily says, "I do recall we had one...incapacitated, so to speak, and it sort of just deactivated after a while." Speaking to Mystiq, Lylia says, "I am glad you have returned from the east to see it." Tearieyes glances at a beautiful mountain lake. Tierus kneels down. Lylia nods at Skulligei. Tierus sniffs at a beautiful mountain lake. Mystiq nods at Lylia. Earthdiver says, "Is there...a place to look for them yet. Or a name." Harrower Moravius says, "They are most likely coming from the Shadow realm valence. Where this Palestra Blade is stranded." Speaking softly to Lylia, Mystiq says, "I seem to have been drawn here tonight." Leafiara nods to Moravius. Lylia offers, "Tierus has a name for them." Harrower Moravius says, "I was hoping to prove it with certainty. But you all did not die enough." Harrower Moravius shrugs. Speaking to Lylia, Tierus asks, "The first one?" Earthdiver says, "I have many mirrors capable of many things." Lylia says, "Yes. Of course." Earthdiver says, "If a name were to be provided..." Lylia nods knowingly at Tierus. Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Thrassus says, "Give it time." Speaking to Earthdiver, Tierus says, "Oh, I call them Ishzir." Earthdiver says, "It will find it." Harrower Moravius says, "Ishzir. Clever." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Lylia says, "Next time, let us know to spread out more before." Tierus says, "There was another name I considered, combining shadows and Ithzir, but I think I scandalized Lylia." Leafiara says, "They sent oddly low numbers tonight compared to past attacks. Otherwise the deaths might have been more numerous." Leafiara chuckles. Speaking softly to Harrower Moravius, Mystiq asks, "So is you all? what blood type needs spilled most?" Mystiq rocks back on her heels. Harrower Moravius says, "It was more a matter of having them in multiple places." Speaking to Tearieyes, Earthdiver says, "There is no guarantee it will find it with all of its pieces together." Leafiara nods understandingly. Lylia lightly says, "Ah, if you were in control of them, then you could have directed them where to go." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Thrassus says, "You needing deaths to triangulate infers that they are doing something other than just simply killing us." Raelee nods slightly at Thrassus. (Lylia looks about to say more, then reconsiders.) Speaking softly to Earthdiver, Tearieyes asks, "You sure you have all YOUR pieces together?" Lylia furrows her brow. Lylia asks, "You did not, did you?" Speaking softly to Harrower Moravius, Mystiq says, "They seem to hunt like the ones in Old Ta'Faendryl that i remember." Tearieyes breaks out in a silly grin. Earthdiver twitches his skeletal fingers ever so briefly. Lylia nods at Thrassus. Earthdiver nods. Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Thrassus says, "They are taking something I assume." Speaking to Thrassus, Raelee says, "... they return to their point of origin upon death and that aids in pinpointing a path there." Harrower Moravius imitates drawing a triangle in the air with his hand. Mystiq softly says, "They like to attack in clusters." Viselda warns, "Dracovir is as ruthless as he is cunning. You do not become Prefect of the Palestra without being cold blooded. Aralyte better have her house in order." Raelee glances at Harrower Moravius. Harrower Moravius says, "Triangulation." Speaking flatly to Palestra Blade Viselda, Tierus says, "You don't say." Leafiara snickers at Tierus. Speaking to Raelee, Thrassus says, "I am referring to when the Ithzir kill us, not the other way around." Speaking to Thrassus, Raelee says, "I see." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Tierus asks, "Yes, precisely what data points are you gathering? Our deaths at their hands, or the inverse?" Raelee looks thoughtfully at Harrower Moravius. Harrower Moravius says, "I suppose your deaths might not be strictly necessary. They are just convenient." Tearieyes rolls her eyes. Skulligei chuckles. Skulligei coughs. Tierus says, "Oh, there it is. This is why everyone loves our people." Earthdiver says, "Are we supposed to be dying." Thrassus says, "If they are draining something, most likely this 'klaloc' referred to previously, they are sending or taking it back to the valence." Skulligei glances at Earthdiver. Skulligei raspily says, "It's likely just another data point." Speaking to Thrassus, Tierus says, "They are gulping down quite a bit of our mana." Lylia says, "Drinking it." Lylia nods in agreement. Tierus asks, "Perhaps they like native Elanthian mana flows?" Leafiara says, "And wards, for that matter." Lylia nods at Leafiara. Skulligei works his fingers under his riveted tin monocle and scratches his head. Tearieyes furrows her brow. Harrower Moravius says, "Yes. That helps. If you have them eat you up, it might help me track where it is all flowing." Thrassus says, "They are harvesting it." With a subtle tilt of his head, Thrassus's slender finger taps lightly on his bottom lip as he becomes lost in thought. Lylia narrows her eyes. [General] Winrie thinks, "Hi night peoples." [General] Skulligei thinks, "Hi." Raelee squints at Harrower Moravius. Harrower Moravius says, "Progress is an excellent thing. Well done." Leafiara gives an approval gesture with her hand. Skulligei raises an eyebrow. Thrassus says, "It's definately the easiest way to trace them back." Lylia says, "While I admire your dedication to the goal of uncovering these truths, being devoured by shadows does rather put an abrupt end to my own goals for the near future." [General] Lylia thinks, "Hello there." Palestra Blade Viselda says, "One does what one must." Palestra Blade Viselda smirks. Leafiara starts chortling. Lylia says, "Just so." Lylia nods firmly. Speaking to Palestra Blade Viselda, Tierus says, "Well, it's nice of you to volunteer." Speaking softly to Lylia, Mystiq says, "We have been playing and die'n with and in the shadows for a very long time." Skulligei sticks his tongue out at Palestra Blade Viselda and lets loose with a loud, "Thbtbtbtbt" from his lips! [General] Tebon thinks, "E'enin' folks." Thrassus says, "We tend to get back up afterwards, that makes us a particularly bountiful field to harvest from." A Basilican praetorian guard says, "Better you fighting those things than me." Raelee clenches her jaw. [General] Lylia thinks, "If you are near the Landing, we are standing on the shores of Lake Eonak talking about the shadowy ithzir incursion with Harrower Moravius." Tearieyes smirks at a Basilican praetorian guard. Lylia grins at a Basilican praetorian guard. Skulligei tilts his silvery blade side to side, making the light play off it. Leafiara says, "I don't know about that. You warrior types do better against some of these foes." Leafiara chuckles. [General] Winrie thinks, "I might be able to find my way there." Skulligei blinks. Sir Tebon just arrived. Lylia nods in greeting at Tebon. Tebon casually glances around the area. [General] Winrie asks, "Where is Lake Eonak near? The East side of town?" Tebon nods curtly to Lylia. Tebon says, "E'enin' folks." Speaking to Tebon, Lylia says, "We escorted an animated Ithzir here. We are now discussing more of what we might learn about this." Speaking softly to Skulligei, Mystiq says, "Best watch those hands." Skulligei nods to Tebon in greeting. [General] Tierus thinks, "Outside of town." Tierus gets a distant look in his eyes. Raelee whispers something to Tierus. Tierus gestures. Pale, swirling mist begins to billow out from nothingness before you, and quickly coalesces into a small orb of shifting essence. Suddenly, the orb expands and forms an elliptical portal of swirling blues and blacks, its edges shrouded in dancing blue-white mist. [General] Lylia thinks, "Outside of town, somewhat near, still." [General] Tierus thinks, "I have sent a wyrdling for you." Kalessin just arrived.
Interrogating the Investigator
Speaking slowly to Harrower Moravius, Raelee asks, "... at what point do you expect to be ready to discuss your findings, once enough death has occurred?" Lylia nods at Kalessin. Speaking to Lylia, Tebon asks, "Ta wat effect, overall?" Winrie steps out of the shifting portal. Speaking to Winrie, Tierus says, "Now you know." Harrower Moravius says, "I would have to speak to Vortelis, he is handling the administrative nonsense." Speaking to Tebon, Lylia says, "To know whence they come. To understand more about what they are." Mystiq questioningly asks, "Um....does the lake normally do that?" Winrie quietly repeats, "Now I know." Harrower Moravius says, "He is studying some soulstone." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Lylia says, "Aralyte's soulstone." Speaking to Mystiq, Leafiara asks, "Do what?" Mystiq softly says, "Been many years i been over here." Thrassus says, "Lately, yes." Speaking pointedly to Thrassus, Tierus says, "Unlike some people, my portals summon *people*." Leafiara gazes in amusement at her surroundings. Speaking to Mystiq, Lylia says, "It has been behaving rather strangely of late." Thrassus raises an eyebrow in Tierus's direction. Mystiq softly asks, "Pulse?" Harrower Moravius says, "We are working on the lake, probing it, as it was turned into a portal to a valence a decade ago." Speaking slowly to Harrower Moravius, Raelee says, "I do not typically consider... scientific collaboration... to be 'administrative nonsense'." Mystiq softly says, "A dark crimson light/." Speaking to Tierus, Thrassus says, "That sounds like a you problem." Lylia nods at Mystiq. Leafiara appears to be struggling to keep a straight face. Speaking to Tearieyes, Tebon says, "I've ne'er been too werried 'bout my appearance." Skulligei tosses a curved silvery blade into the lake. It makes a loud splash and quickly sinks out of sight. Winrie softly says, "Oh those poor fishies." Skulligei gazes with interest at a beautiful mountain lake. Speaking to Thrassus, Tierus says, "Nothing from one of my portals has ever tried to eat me." Harrower Moravius says, "Who gets told what when, that sort of administration." Mystiq softly says, "Interesting." Speaking raspily to Winrie, Skulligei says, "I wouldn't eat anything out of that lake honestly..." Nyaria gestures. With a wince, Raelee slowly massages her temple. Conquerer of Reim Nairdin just arrived. Harrower Moravius says, "If I speak out of turn, then I get lectured at." Speaking to Skulligei, Winrie asks, "If it fits on a thingie, we cook it?" Speaking to Nairdin, Lylia says, "Thank you for the webbing earlier, by the way." Speaking to Tierus, Thrassus says, "That's not a thing my portals have ever done either." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Raelee says, "... academics ought to be accustomed to the lecture." Speaking to Nairdin, Lylia says, "You helped ensure we captured and animated one." Speaking heartily to Lylia, Nairdin asks, "Oh is that what you were doing?" Lylia nods. Tierus smirks at Thrassus. Tebon says, "I dunnae how I feel 'bout usin' an animated Ithzir...." Speaking heartily to Lylia, Nairdin says, "I was just trying to run around and web a few of them to keep everyone safe." Harrower Moravius says, "When the lecture is academic, it holds the attention." Nairdin chuckles. Tierus stares at a beautiful mountain lake. Speaking heartily to Lylia, Nairdin says, "Glad to be of service." Lylia smoothly says, "Of course. You do not think we were simply taking that long to kill it for no reason, right? We meant to do that." Harrower Moravius asks, "Do you all often stroll the lake after midnight?" Skulligei sighs. Speaking quietly to himself, Tierus says, "There is some irony to all of this excitement being attached to a lake dedicated to the most boring of Arkati." Lylia says, "Actually, yes." Skulligei nods to Moravius. Raelee nods slightly at Lylia. Nairdin heartily says, "Often." Nairdin nods. Nairdin removes a twisted black fishing pole adorned with tiny fish skulls from in his grey wolf hide longcoat. Nairdin raises his black fishing pole skyward! Harrower Moravius says, "Curious." Lylia nods at Tierus. Skulligei raspily says, "I spend most of the day here actualyl." Winrie says, "Only when my toes need dipping." Tearieyes softly says, "I don't." Speaking to Tierus, Lylia says, "Although I might argue about which one is the most boring." Tearieyes shrugs. Winrie blinks. Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "We know it's not Kai." Lylia chuckles. Palestra Blade Viselda says, "The whole Liabo pantheon is especially insipid." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Thrassus says, "It's a habit we have developed since this lake has had so many issues emerging from it." Skulligei agrees with Thrassus. Mystiq curls her lip at Tierus, her face contorting in a disdainful smirk. Skulligei tosses a spiral-hafted handaxe into the lake. It makes a loud splash and quickly sinks out of sight. Lylia nods slightly to Viselda. Tebon says, "I've been in tha presence o' Lord Eonak, Tierus, he's nae that borin'." Skulligei squints at a beautiful mountain lake. Speaking to Palestra Blade Viselda, Tierus says, "I don't know. I've always had a soft spot for Ronan." Speaking to Tebon, Tierus says, "Big muscles? Makes lots of iron? Boring." Speaking softly to Earthdiver, Mystiq says, "Keep your eyes to yourself." Speaking to Tierus, Tebon says, "Iron makes mauls, I'd 'ave ta disagree." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Thrassus says, "It's also served as a source for temporal distortions in the past as well." Tebon grins at Tierus. Palestra Blade Viselda says, "Charl smashes ships. At least we can relate to that." Raelee looks thoughtfully at Harrower Moravius. Skulligei glances at Harrower Moravius and rubs his chin thoughtfully. Speaking to Tebon, Tierus says, "Now, riding around on a unicorn with a sword? I can see why I was so easily swayed to Ronan in my youth." Lylia grins at Palestra Blade Viselda. Winrie hisses at Palestra Blade Viselda. Tebon begins chuckling at Tierus! Speaking quickly to Tebon, Tierus says, "To be clear, the unicorn doesn't have a sword." Tierus says, "...although." Harrower Moravius says, "This place does seem wild and reckless. Magically speaking." Lylia says, "So glad you clarified this." Lylia nods to Moravius. Speaking to Tierus, Tebon says, "Aye, I've spoken with Ronan, I 'ave great admiration fer him." Lylia says, "It has been for all the decades I have lived here." Tierus nods. Tierus glances at Harrower Moravius. Speaking slowly to Harrower Moravius, Raelee asks, "... while your focus is on tracing the energy drawn from our deaths, do you have an preliminary hypothesis on what that energy may be powering?" Winrie surreptitiously says, "All food for the eel." Lylia points out, "I have written letters to various Basilican offices. Many letters." Skulligei raspily asks, "I've been seeing a lot of researchers coming in and out of the mountain base.....anything interesting you can share?" Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Thrassus says, "There was a time when various temporally displaced hordes were assaulting the town." Harrower Moravius says, "The difficulty with that is these creatures feed on mana, both the Ithzir and the shadows." Tierus says, "I am curious why it is that House Ta'Faendryl is so interested in this region. There are enough world-ending magical phenomena out east, but you'd think this was a family reunion from the faces around here." Winrie glances at Skulligei. Harrower Moravius says, "They may simply be hungry." Speaking raspily to Winrie, Skulligei says, "Maybe your eel would like to eat this." Winrie accepts Skulligei's midnight black apple. Tebon says, "Back ta tha subject at hand....animatin' this Ithzir....that's a dangerous fine line o' creatin' undead, which woul' make me jus' wanna free it's soul...once animated." Skulligei nods. Lylia says, "One of our own is in there." Harrower Moravius says, "But who knows what might be in their source valence." Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "Yes, and we're infamously loyal to one another." Harrower Moravius says, "Yes. Very unexpected that this Blade Aralyte survives there after eleven years." Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "Especially per Master 'I Get Data from You Dying' over there." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Raelee says, "But if they have to reach into our valence to feed, that would imply their native valence has insufficient resources. Naturally, most creatures will expend the minimum necessary energy to feed... not the maximum. One only reaches into another world if their current world is not meeting their needs." Lylia coolly says, "I remain loyal to the Patriarch and to proper Faendryl ideals, yes." Earthdiver says, "I wonder if their world is full." Harrower Moravius says, "It is not the sort of place the Ithzir would normally be found. If it is indeed the Shadows valence." Speaking softly to Tierus, Mystiq says, "Sometimes." Tierus can offer Lylia only a blank expression. Harrower Moravius says, "We have such juicy mana, if you will." Skulligei squints at Harrower Moravius. Leafiara gazes in amusement at her surroundings. Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Raelee asks, "And the shadows themselves?" Tierus looks thoughtfully at Mystiq. Speaking plainly to Morsin, Winrie says, "Unless, they want more than they need." Winrie blushes a florid shade of deep crimson. Winrie scrunches up her face weirdly, her eyes rolling around in their sockets. Thrassus says, "Thats the one worthwhile thing this valence has an abundance of, yes." Tebon folds his arms over his chest. Winrie glances at Lylia. Earthdiver rubs at the joints of his skeletal fingers for several moments. Speaking to Tebon, Lylia says, "Sorcerous animation? If I were to wear a glove, is the glove now animated in a dangerous fashion? We pull on the ragged remains of the fallen; it is not the same." Harrower Moravius says, "They seem like darkness.. well, not literally elementals... but something similar. Which feed on magical power rather normally." Lylia nods once at Winrie. Speaking to Lylia, Tebon says, "It is a dangerous an' fine line ta walk." Speaking quietly to Winrie, Morsin says, "We do look somewhat alike, I suppose, an easy mistake to make." Lylia airily says, "Then it is good that I have deft feet and good balance." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Raelee says, "And do you believe their entering this valence to feed is merely... opportunistic? If not for a lack of resources in their native plane." Tierus says, "Yes, but again, they speak Ithzir. Fluently, I assume, if their reverse-belching sounds are any indication." Lylia nods at Tierus. Skulligei raises an eyebrow. Speaking apologetically in Elven to Morsin, Winrie says, "I am very sorry." Morsin waves his hand in a dismissive gesture. Harrower Moravius says, "They are getting in here because of the storming around this mountain." Lylia grins at Morsin. Earthdiver says, "You would think...animating two of them...and putting them together would mean they would talk about their plans." Leafiara nods understandingly. Harrower Moravius says, "So I suppose the question is if the storming is being antagonized." Tierus asks, "If you were a... counterfeithzir, why the language?" Skulligei raspily says, "If they were here simply to feed, then a large invasion fore would make more sense than the constant poking and prodding they seem to do to keep us on edge." Speaking in Elven, Morsin says, "I am only teasing you, no need to apologize. I couldn't resist." Speaking to herself, Lylia murmurs, "Counterfeithzir..." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Raelee says, "And whether purposefully or just incidentally." Earthdiver grins at Lylia. Lylia nods approvingly at Tierus. Earthdiver says, "It works." Harrower Moravius says, "I was told the Emerald Sun relic was used here, some ten years ago, rather intentionally to do that very thing." Speaking mildly to Lylia, Tierus says, "They really do just think themselves up." Lylia says, "I think you have a talent for it." Thrassus nods to Moravius. Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Raelee says, "That is one example, yes." Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "Oh, hooray. I have one at last." Speaking to Lylia, Tebon says, "I woul' 'ave ta consult wit some other Masters o' tha Order ta see wat tha thought is on that." Winrie curiously asks, "Is this not an issue for the nations? Why are we worried here?" Speaking to Winrie, Tierus says, "Because they're here." Lylia narrows her eyes. Winrie stares at Tierus. Winrie breaks out in a sweat. Winrie nods slowly. Lylia smiles widely, although the expression never reaches her eyes. Lylia says, "Certainly." Lylia inclines her head. Speaking to Winrie, Tierus says, "That's why the streets of Wehnimer's smell like blood and manure, not the countless other reasons they smell like that." Tierus says, "They invaded tonight, as they have invaded several times." Mystiq softly says, "That is nothing new." Mystiq waves her hand in a dismissive gesture. Speaking quietly to herself, Winrie says, "They always smell like that." Speaking to Winrie, Lylia says, "The Ithzir are an issue for the entire world." Tierus says, "Yes, but again, specifically tonight." Leafiara gazes in amusement at her surroundings. Harrower Moravius says, "What nations? I am not from here, but here I am." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Tierus says, "The Nations." Lylia nods at Mystiq. Tebon asks, "Because ye's were tol' ta come here, aye?" Winrie clenches her jaw. Harrower Moravius says, "Yes. The Archchancellor told me I had to come here." Lylia says, "If you mean a task force of Faendryl were sent to investigate a threat we know better than any, then yes. It stands to reason. If you have rats, you call a rat-catcher." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Tebon asks, "So ifin ye's 'ad nae been tol' ta come here, woul' ye's be here now?" Harrower Moravius says, "This is not what I ordinarily do." Mystiq agrees with Lylia. Harrower Moravius says, "Someone else from the guild would have been given it." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Morsin asks, "Any insight on why you were sent instead of that someone else you'd care to share?" Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Winrie asks, "Or, how much do we have to pay you to get this problem to go...away?" Speaking to Raelee, Tebon asks, "How goes yer studies on wat is occurin?" Harrower Moravius says, "It is because they wish to discern whether this Shadows valence may be safely breached from various locations." (Lylia gazes at the lake, momentarily entranced. She shakes her head as if to clear it and returns her attention to Harrower Moravius.) Morsin nods. Harrower Moravius says, "It is my specialty to study the veil." Lylia grins at Winrie. Winrie winks at Lylia. Harrower Moravius says, "This particular spot was violently wounded toward that place years back." Speaking carefully to Tebon, Raelee says, "... the Harrower has yet to reveal much." Winrie says, "So, you're saying we should drain the lake." Lylia says, "I do not know that anyone could afford us." Speaking to Raelee, Tebon says, "So nuthin...." Tebon glances at Harrower Moravius. Tebon says, "Or they are sharin' nuthin'." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Lylia says, "Wounded. That is an interesting choice of word." Speaking to Raelee, Tierus says, "Yes, circles are practically a second language to my people, we speak in them so often." Speaking to Tierus, Raelee says, "And you have said I cannot master the language." Lylia says, "Circles are an elegant shape for many things, including conversations." Speaking pleasantly to Raelee, Tierus says, "You always seemed more like a square to me." Harrower Moravius says, "Yes. It was punctured again, but up here, higher than the water." Skulligei raspily says, "We are certainly going about this in a roundabout way." Raelee whispers something to Tebon. Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Lylia asks, "Have you learned anything more about the soulstone, to your knowledge?" Tebon nods slowly at Raelee. Speaking to Tierus, Raelee says, "I am not a simple geometric shape." Speaking to Raelee, Tierus says, "Precisely." Harrower Moravius says, "Vortelis is I believe nearly done studying it." Lylia says, "True. She is a highly complex geometric shape." Tebon whispers something to Raelee. Lylia nods to Moravius. Tebon glances at Harrower Moravius. Tebon frowns. Speaking teasingly to Lylia, Mystiq says, "That would be like admitting they all was wrong and need us." Lylia flashes a quick grin. Speaking to Mystiq, Tierus says, "The fact that they're here is enough of an admission of that." Mystiq grins at Tierus. Tierus says, "After all, they said earlier that they lacked the capacity to wrangle even one of this false ithzir without you." Tebon whispers something to Raelee. Tierus says, "...us." Tierus ponders. Tierus says, "...you." Harrower Moravius smirks. Lylia sets her mouth in a thin line of disapproval. Lylia shakes her head and turns away. Tebon frowns. Tearieyes fidgets. One of the Harrowers jumps into a shadowy patch of the lake, dropping out of sight without any disturbance of the water. Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Tierus says, "The people of Wehnimer's will undoubtedly do their part, but you really must carry your weight." Tierus glances at a beautiful mountain lake. Tierus says, "...and stop wasting harrowers." Tebon agrees with Tierus. Tierus says, "We're not exactly a numerous folk." Harrower Moravius says, "I have only been here for a few days." Thrassus says, "Oh, those harrowers are fine." Earthdiver says, "Are they..going to the bottom of the lake to investigate." Speaking to Thrassus, Tierus says, "I haven't seen a one come back up." Thrassus says, "They don't have to come back up from that direction." Lylia suggests, "They may also wish to investigate in the bay..." Tierus blinks at Thrassus. Skulligei raspily says, "Pop outta that shadow obelisk over by the tent." Thrassus nods at Lylia. Winrie echoes, "The bay." Speaking to Skulligei, Tierus says, "Mm." Speaking to Winrie, Lylia says, "Only an Ithzir pyramid down there. Nothing much of note." Speaking to Raelee, Tierus says, "This place has more holes in the walls of the world than Solhaven." Tebon asks, "These are our people that are dyin' an' sufferin', Harrower. I'm sure ye's kin unnerstand our desire fer speed in figurin' things out, eh?" Tebon peers quizzically at Harrower Moravius. Speaking to Tierus, Raelee says, "And Solhaven's are not leaking... at the moment." Speaking to Lylia, Earthdiver says, "Do you know what kind of pyramid it is." Speaking softly to Tebon, Mystiq says, "And that is why nothing every really gets finished." Winrie flusteredly says, "Well, it is only a giant obelisk in the lake. What is there to worry about." Tierus says, "It's a wonder the skin of space itself hasn't started to stretch and tear like a barmaid's patience." Winrie clears her throat. Skulligei agrees with Winrie. Tearieyes frowns. Speaking offhandedly to Tierus, Leafiara says, "Oh, some years it does. Not this one yet, but the year is young." Tierus nods at Leafiara. Speaking to Mystiq, Tebon says, "Some o' us do nae 'ave tha long lives o' tha elven-kind." Skulligei gives his jar a hard shake, causing a sliver of bleakstone to fall into his hand. Lylia frostily says, "I think we can grant that it may take a few days or even, Arkati forfend, weeks to unravel such mysteries. Even for the Basilica." Skulligei squints at a sliver of bleakstone. Harrower Moravius nods at Lylia. Skulligei glances at an enormous blue crystal monolith. Skulligei rubs his chin thoughtfully. Winrie scowls. Speaking softly to Tebon, Mystiq says, "And never will when all you want to do is hurry up and figure nothing out." Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "I wonder how long it would take the Hall." Raelee glances sharply at Tierus. Speaking to Raelee, Tierus asks, "Magister?" Mystiq laughs at herself! Speaking neutrally to Tierus, Raelee says, "One does not know. They have not been invited." Speaking to Mystiq, Tebon says, "There is much I might say ta that, but it's nae productive at this time, an' may be taken wrongly." Speaking to Raelee, Tierus says, "An unfortunate oversight, to be sure." Lylia coldly says, "I believe I shall bite my tongue on that reply." Speaking to Mystiq, Tebon says, "But my people are nae known fer there patience." Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "You can be irate, but our people tend to break as much as we fix." Speaking to Tierus, Raelee says, "No. It is not an oversight. I have rather deliberately not contacted them." Winrie gasps. Skulligei blinks. Winrie moves to stand in front of Lylia. Lylia briskly says, "It is of no consequence to speculate how someone else might handle this trouble. I do not know why we would wonder what a baker or a ploughman would do in a war when you have actual soldiers here." Skulligei gawks at a shielded worker encampment. Mystiq nods slightly with a half-smile at some untold fortune. Speaking softly to Tierus, Mystiq asks, "What have you fixed?" Lylia glances at Winrie. Skulligei raspily exclaims, "Impressive!" Lylia tilts her head up. Leafiara says, "I can't recall a time that anyone from the Hall of Mages other than Raelee or Bekke came to this lake and something didn't go horribly wrong. Vlashandra, Dennet, Quinshon... I'd be vastly more concerned if they were here than if they weren't." Leafiara gazes up into the heavens. Speaking to Mystiq, Tierus says, "The Undead War, for starters." Tierus says, "And likely House Ashrim." Speaking to Tierus, Lylia says, "Yes, that is a rather big one." Palestra Blade Viselda says, "The classics." Skulligei rubs his chin thoughtfully. Raelee squints at Lylia. Lylia nods to Viselda. Speaking softly to Tierus, Mystiq says, "Um..." Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "However, we've also been responsible for a few hundred accidental atrocities over the years, so we ought to be careful not to sprain something while patting ourselves on the back." Speaking softly to Tierus, Mystiq asks, "I said you not the collective you?" Speaking to Mystiq, Tierus says, "Oh. Let's see." Palestra Blade Viselda says, "I have put down my fair share of accident makers." Speaking dryly to Tierus, Lylia remarks, "I have remarkably flexible shoulders, but I thank you for your concern." Leafiara grins at Palestra Blade Viselda. Lylia flashes a quick grin at Tierus. Tebon casually glances at Palestra Blade Viselda. Speaking to Palestra Blade Viselda, Lylia says, "One does what one must." Tierus ponders. Speaking to Mystiq, Tierus asks, "Does singlehandedly putting a dent in the halfling population of Icemule Trace count as a good thing or a bad thing?" Speaking to Palestra Blade Viselda, Tebon says, "Boastful werds." Tierus says, "...it's an accomplishment, either way." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Lylia asks, "At the risk of being unpleasantly blunt, is there a way in which we might aid -- aside from dying in a more constructive fashion?" Speaking to Mystiq, Tierus says, "Oh, and I survived being Eryael's lover. That was definitely one for the books." Speaking to Mystiq, Tierus says, "A veritable bonanza of accomplishments." Speaking surreptitiously to Skulligei, Winrie says, "Use what you have." Harrower Moravius says, "I think Vortelis is going to want more of those hazy tenebrous orbs. But he knows more about that than myself." Speaking softly to Tierus, Mystiq says, "Serviving something is not fixing it." Skulligei raspily asks, "Hmm?" Leafiara removes a hazy tenebrous orb from in her starsilk gem pouch. Lylia nods to Moravius. Leafiara ponders. Speaking to Mystiq, Tierus says, "Well, he's trapped beyond the walls of the world for eternity, so my fix was a little more permanent than a bit of glue." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Raelee asks, "For what purpose?" Leafiara says, "I think I only found the one tonight, but we can keep an eye out." Harrower Moravius says, "At some point I will need to look at the Bleaklands. It is more dangerous than here, you would be able to help with that as well." Lylia smiles. Leafiara nods understandingly. Lylia says, "I look forward to that." Tearieyes softly says, "I believe I have one stuffed in a locker." Tierus asks, "Do you have any suggestions for how we might capture one of those masses of shadows?" Speaking to Leafiara, Lylia asks, "Where did they come from? The orbs, that is?" Tierus says, "Definitionally, they are hard to restrain." Speaking to Lylia, Leafiara says, "The shadows." Lylia nods at Tierus. Lylia nods at Leafiara. Mystiq nods slowly at Tierus. Thrassus nods to Moravius. Earthdiver asks, "With light?" Harrower Moravius says, "They come from the shadow entities." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Raelee states, "Five." From behind an enormous blue crystal monolith, Winrie's voice slyly says, "You have no eyes." Speaking to Earthdiver, Tierus says, "Hm." Speaking to Earthdiver, Lylia says, "Light does help dispel them." Harrower Moravius says, "They may contain power." Tierus says, "Raelee made fire. Even I made fire." >look encampment Between the lake and mountain is an encampment with numerous dark elven sorcerers and workers in varied clothing. Tierus asks, "Need it be purer light?" Harrower Moravius points at a shielded worker encampment. Skulligei raspily says, "You waggler types are so quick to burn things..." Skulligei cackles! Earthdiver chuckles. Harrower Moravius says, "That shadowglass monolith. We will try to capture one of them with it." Speaking to Skulligei, Lylia says, "Fire cleanses." Speaking pragmatically to Skulligei, Leafiara says, "When it works, it works." Tebon shifts his weight. Tierus says, "Excuse me. I'm a lancer." Lylia nods to Moravius. Speaking to Skulligei, Tierus says, "But my lance does make fire." Skulligei grins at Tierus. Lylia marvels, "That is a fine piece of work." Speaking plainly to Lylia, Tierus says, "I am great." Leafiara appears to be struggling to keep a straight face. Tierus produces a crimson-sheened lustrous grey starsong lance from the depths of his ebon silk cape. Tierus leans on his lance. Harrower Moravius says, "It is guesswork presuming it is the right material and make for it." Speaking to Tierus, Lylia says, "Yes, well, it is good we have at least a few things in common." Tierus smirks. Raelee looks thoughtfully at Lylia. Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Raelee asks, "... what is your guess based upon?" Winrie ponders. Winrie stares off into space. Speaking brightly to Morsin, Winrie asks, "Should we, maybe like um, drag some burghals out here and sacrifice them to appease the um, the Ithzir?" Speaking to Winrie, Tierus says, "Points for inventiveness, but probably not." Lylia nods at Raelee. Mystiq glances down. Winrie frowns. Speaking to Winrie, Tierus says, "I mean, it wouldn't hurt to try." Skulligei frowns. Winrie agrees with Tierus. Harrower Moravius says, "That they are shadows entities, with what we might expect from shadow essence, which is the sort of energy made when animate things are sacrificed." Morsin shifts his weight. Winrie whimsically says, "A little blood and some tarts go a long way." Mystiq rubs her eahnor ring. Tearieyes gazes up into the heavens. Skulligei agrees with Winrie. Harrower Moravius says, "Vortelis is also studying that soulstone, which seems to absorb the stuff." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Tierus asks, "Is it possible that they are the remnants of ithzir?" Leafiara nods understandingly. Raelee nods faintly at Lylia. Lylia gazes with interest at Tierus. Harrower Moravius nods. Tierus asks, "Some sort of shadowy afterimage?" Tierus says, "That would explain the linguistic proficiencies." Winrie stupidly says, "Like a reflection of a reflection." Winrie belches. Harrower Moravius says, "Yes. That was roughly what I had in mind when I spoke earlier of the doppelgangers that were in the Bleaklands." Tierus nods. Lylia nods. Skulligei raspily asks, "Remnants as in what is left of their entire species? or remnants of their "individual" existence? a revenant of sorts?" Winrie points at Skulligei. Winrie snaps her fingers. Skulligei ducks his head. Skulligei glances around the area. Winrie waggles her fingers mystically. Ooh...impressive. Harrower Moravius says, "The Ithzir exist in many valences." Speaking to Skulligei, Lylia says, "There is no shortage of Ithzir in general. But these are decidedly different." Skulligei agrees with Lylia. Winrie asks, "I mean um...can we set a trap?" Winrie blinks. Skulligei raspily says, "I thought so, but all of my knowledge of these subjects comes from retellings of retellings....so I have to ask." Skulligei nods. Harrower Moravius says, "This reanimated one you brought us will be a good start." Lylia smiles at Moravius. Lylia says, "A trap is an interesting idea." Earthdiver says, "Perhaps a light trap." Speaking to Earthdiver, Lylia says, "A little one. As a treat on Restdays." Raelee glances at Lylia. Harrower Moravius asks, "You would use light to cage them in around this capturing monolith?" Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "A radiant trap." Lylia nods slowly. Winrie agrees with Skulligei. Harrower Moravius says, "Interesting. That could work." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Tierus says, "Yes. Have you all mastered light spells? Raelee could teach you." Tierus glances at Raelee. Lylia asks, "What else would trap a shadow more effectively than being surrounded by light?" Winrie says, "A lantern surrounded by mirrors." Winrie says, "Where the light dances but never rests." Winrie says, "No room for a shadow to hide." Winrie sniffs. Harrower Moravius nods. Tierus says, "We could purchase all of the mirrors in Wehnimer's. Most of the residents aren't much to look at anyway." Tebon casually glances at Tierus. Lylia dryly says, "I am never without a mirror." Lylia removes a round blood marble-set glass mirror from in her wrap. Lylia tosses back her head and runs her fingers through her hair. Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "Yes, but you've walked around Cheridan. Tell me I'm wrong." Winrie grabs an antique silver hand mirror from a large pocket inside of her raider cloak. Winrie raises her silver hand mirror skyward! Lylia holds up her hand and tilts it side to side in a so-so gesture. Tierus stands up. Lylia put a round blood marble-set glass mirror in her wrap. Winrie shrugs at Lylia. Skulligei cackles at Winrie! Winrie tucks an antique silver hand mirror into a large pocket inside of her raider cloak. Mystiq removes a sterling silver mirror inlaid with a golden rose from in her black satin kimono. Tierus says, "There's that one fellow whom I thought had two noses until I realized it was just an especially large wart, or an especially small nose." Mystiq softly says, "Me either." (Lylia gazes at Tierus in mute horror.) Tierus softly says, "I'm still not certain which." Tierus says, "At any rate: mirrors." Tebon whispers something to Lylia. Lylia firmly agrees, "Mirrors." Skulligei raspily says, "This whole lake is a giant mirror." Winrie glances at an enormous blue crystal monolith. Skulligei nods. Lylia grins at Skulligei. Winrie glances at Skulligei. Tierus looks thoughtfully at Skulligei. Winrie wrinkles her nose. Tebon nods slowly at Lylia. Skulligei raspily says, "With some waggling i'm sur eyou could make a functional reflection of it in the sky." Thrassus gazes at his reflection in the gold filigree mirror. Winrie offers, "Have we tried focusing light at this monolith?" Skulligei raspily asks, "What does happen when a hive mind recognizes it "self"?" Palestra Blade Viselda says, "If you align enough of them right, you can set ships on fire with the sun." Speaking to Winrie, Raelee says, "Nothing has been attempted yet. This is all still in the plan phase." Thrassus says, "That monolith is not attuned to what we would need for that." Skulligei glances at Palestra Blade Viselda and cringes. Winrie nods understandingly at Raelee. Winrie buries her face in her hands. Winrie sneezes. Speaking to Palestra Blade Viselda, Lylia says, "There are even more direct ways to destroy ships." Greenish-black flames spring to life in Lylia's hand... Thrassus says, "It's more of a mana flow focus and redirector." Mystiq softly says, "Bards can mirror themselves." Skulligei raspily says, "Oh we all know how Faendryl deal with ships." Palestra Blade Viselda says, "There are many enjoyable ways to incinerate ships." Lylia mildly agrees, "There are." Speaking to Skulligei, Tierus says, "Let me remind you that it wasn't the Faendryl who set to exterminating all ponies." Tierus says, "At least our atrocities aren't... gross." Skulligei raises an eyebrow. Winrie snorts! Harrower Moravius says, "You should work on this light and mirrors plan. Vortelis does want to catch one, and they do not reliably enter this world through the lake itself." Skulligei raspily says, "That is definitely up for debate." Lylia nods to Moravius. Tierus nods to Moravius. Lylia says, "We shall keep this in mind. And prepare for a possible voyage to the Bleaklands." Speaking to Lylia, Tierus says, "We could do some sort pageant for the hideous folk of Wehnimer's, so we know whose mirrors to take." Harrower Moravius says, "There is some statue there he wants to see as well." Lylia archly observes, "And I shall endeavor to die in a more useful fashion." Speaking to Lylia, Earthdiver says, "It is probably nice this time of year." Lylia raises an eyebrow. Lylia asks, "The statue?" Lylia grins at Tierus. Harrower Moravius says, "Yes. I do not know much about it." Raelee says, "... light cast from a spiritual spell is likely to be more effective than that emmanating from fire..." Skulligei raspily says, "That statue didn't seem very broken when I last saw it." Tierus nods at Raelee. Lylia says, "If it is the one I am thinking of, I am rather familiar with it." Lylia smirks as a haughty expression flits across her face. Earthdiver asks, "What of lightning?" A wave of power flows out of Tierus towards an enormous blue crystal monolith. Speaking to Raelee, Tierus asks, "Like that?" Speaking thoughtfully to Earthdiver, Winrie says, "Yes, the Bleaklands must be the height of the season." Earthdiver grins at Winrie. Raelee nods slowly at Tierus. Tierus asks, "Or do we need something more incandescent?" Speaking to Earthdiver, Raelee says, "Ultimately we are treating shadow as if it is an element of its own. Thus light should be treated as such as well. There is a difference between light as a magical substance and simple incandenscence." Earthdiver nods at Raelee. Skulligei glances at Raelee and rubs his chin thoughtfully. Speaking to Raelee, Winrie says, "That is a very good point." Earthdiver says, "There are many forms of light." Raelee says, "... and while the light of lightning is bright is is... still light in the more mundane sense of the word." Harrower Moravius nods at Raelee. Speaking quietly to herself, Winrie says, "Maybe a living being of light." Mystiq softly says, "Need a bug catcher." Winrie ponders. Lylia glances sharply at Winrie. Morsin asks, "If the lightning is produced by magic, does that not make the light it produces magical as well?" Lylia says, "A living being of light. Such as a fire wyrdling." Speaking to Winrie, Tebon says, "Or a holy warrior." Speaking to Morsin, Raelee says, "It is more the product of a magic reaction." Speaking to Morsin, Raelee says, "But consider the difference between a spell that emits light as a secondary effect... and a spell that creates light with no radiating source." Earthdiver says, "Light comes in many colors. Some unseen. Some strange." Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "Does the Faendryl tongue have more precise terminology for this case? Common does so often adhere multiple definitions to the same word." Winrie quietly says, "I swear there is a monument near here with light and a great..." Winrie slowly empties her lungs. Winrie shakes her head. Earthdiver says, "It would seem some testing is in order to gurantee the desired effect." Speaking to Raelee, Morsin says, "I admit that my knowledge of spells is still growing, but I know of only one that produces light that is not the byproduct of fire or some other element." Speaking to Raelee, Lylia says, "It does. It is hard to communicate. I feel some nuance is always lost." Harrower Moravius says, "There is light in the sense of a pure spirit realm energy." Tebon says, "It grows late, my apologies, but I needs ta depart." Speaking to Morsin, Raelee says, "And that spell is likely an ideal source." Raelee nods to Moravius. Mystiq softly asks, "Searing light?" Harrower Moravius nods at Mystiq. Tebon says, "Honor, all." Speaking softly to Harrower Moravius, Mystiq says, "That is what i was thinking." Harrower Moravius says, "That is the source of the.. searing light... magic, I believe it is called." Tebon turns around. Sir Tebon just went southwest. Speaking softly to Harrower Moravius, Mystiq says, "Plenty of us around how can cast that." Harrower Moravius says, "Which spread through the guilds after some meddling in the Citadel of the old Council of Mages." Lylia gazes with interest at Harrower Moravius. Mystiq softly says, "And it is deadly." Harrower Moravius says, "It seems like less than twenty years ago. I do not recall exactly." Mystiq softly says, "Much to think about." Harrower Moravius nods. Winrie says, "Then, we need to spend some time looking at the scrolls." Speaking wonderingly to Harrower Moravius, Winrie asks, "Do we have time?" Harrower Moravius nods at Winrie. Harrower Moravius says, "This will keep happening until we find the root cause of this bleedthrough allowing in these Ithzir." Tierus says, "Well, best to get to it, then." Lylia nods slowly. Lylia says, "Indeed." Harrower Moravius says, "I suppose I do not have much else for you at the moment. I only arrived here a few days ago." Mystiq softly says, "Well seeing as the hour is late I must be off. Maybe the porch might help us all do a little extra thinking. If any care to meet there at some point I hope to join." Lylia says, "I feel we have a good deal to talk about, all of us." Skulligei agrees with Harrower Moravius. Speaking wryly to Harrower Moravius, Tierus says, "Yes, well. Perhaps a cast of Haste, or even Celerity." Winrie nods slowly. Harrower Moravius smirks. Mystiq agrees with Lylia. Tierus says, "Those are wizard spells." Harrower Moravius says, "Wizards keep their time well." Speaking to Harrower Moravius, Morsin says, "Thank you for your time." Speaking to Tierus, Winrie whines, "But, I do not like celery." Winrie sniffs. Tearieyes grins at Earthdiver. Skulligei cackles at Winrie! Speaking to Winrie, Tierus says, "It's a required component, I told you." Winrie slowly empties her lungs. Speaking in Faendryl, Mystiq softly says, "Good night." Winrie exaggeratedly says, "Fine." Mystiq's group becomes blurred, and then vanishes! Earthdiver bends forward slightly, shoulders drawn in, and lets loose with a terrible, hacking cough. Winrie mumbles something under her breath. Winrie rubs a lustrous midnight black apple in her hand. Thrassus says, "It is indeed time. Good evening, all." Harrower Moravius says, "I have other locations to probe. Excuse me." Harrower Moravius just went southwest.
